Well, the server is back now anyways...

Well I guess all good things must come to an end... Sad but true.
So thanks to Penn and Eagle for hosting the server for so long!

Futhermore I have great interest in a new pirate server... Too bad I know nothing from hosting myself.
But if someone else does, I'm always available for support in many ways.
So don't hesitate to contact me if you have some plan. I'll be "Hakunamatata" on steam for many years, so that be easy.

Yeah I guessed the encoding of the server might be difficult. But isn't it possible to change it so that the maps doesn't always start with France and UK? Cause I think that might be frustrating for the players who don't like the all pirates. Now you have to get enough votes to change it to all classes and never if you want pirates, the next map will be automaticly with all pirates... If the map starts with France and UK, but you know that the next map will be with Austria, Russia or Prussia, it might convince players to stay and play those 3 rounds as a pirate...

So basicly the server itself favours the nations of France and UK (quite logic cause it is a pirate server, but we lost many players with that). So if the server would be freed form that favourism it might work for all players (not sure about that, but it be worth a try i think) and the server would be full of players every night again...

I must say that there is a lot discussion about this issue. In my experience on the server the're both many in favour of the all pirate thing and many who are against it. With some generalisation I can say that the older players (not in age, but in time spent on M&B) want the old server back and the newest players want to keep the all pirates. Those two groups are about the same size, so if nothing happens we would lose a great part of our players. That is why I alternate bewteen pirates and musket from time to time (once in a week or so), so that everyone can enjoy the server.

I know that players can vote to change te nations, but votes rarely work out...
So the best possible options would seem something in between. Like Artaxias said, some maps with only pirates and others with the usuall classes. Or some days in the week all pirates and the other days muskets... I understand that it must be hard to encrypt those things, but I'm just thinking out loud here.

And about the poll, I said to many people on the server to go voting (in favour or against) cause we need their opinions. But so far only 12 people voted yet... I know this may sound a bit harsh, but I think that people only vote if they care about the server. And as it looks now, the most players who voted want to change it back.
Can we conclude by this that the payers who like the all pirate thing don't care about the server? Probably not, but they don't take the effort to go voting... Then I wonder which players we want to have on the server. Just something to think about.

Anyways, I know Penn and Eagle are thinking a lot about this issue. So I'll just keep convincing people to vote so that we can know the opinion of the majority of our players.

Admin experience (if any): Alittle from Css, but not in M&B.
Why do you want to be an admin for the servers? I have personally encountered 150-200 unpleasent episodes on this server, people have pushed others of boats, much misbeheavior by people in chat, blocking exits, and people who stay fay away from opposite team/run away when they are the last guy on purpose and delay the round, and glitchers who camp at "unallowed" places. I follow and respect admins rules like i always did. I wanna contribute on this server's future, and make sure rules are followed by the players, and to keep trolls out from ruining for other players.
Hakunamatata suggested me to apply for admin.

Why do you want to be an admin for the servers?
Recently there are some new trolls coming at the pirate battle server on napoleonic wars: pushing people off the tiny boats, blocking exits, blowing the ships of their team up, artytrolling, hiding somewhere so that the round ends with a draw... It annoys me that they no one can stop them when there is no admin on. I'm not interested in using the admin powers to tell people what to when i don't like their tactics, changing settings, or kicking people of the server. I just want to slay the trolls (after a warning or two) who ruin the game for everybody.
