Are the armor design in Bannerlord terrible or good?

Some are perfectly good. Others look more like fantasy.

By fantasy I dont mean historically inaccurate  (while they are inaccurate), they don’t have to be 100% historically accurate. However, I personally feel that they do have to make sense from the perspective of the wearer.

An excess of furs and a bunch of pointless leather makes the armor look to bulky and in no way comfortable to wear or fight in. Not to mention it makes it look like a joke to people who actually appreciate good armor and weapons design in games.

Warband had a good balance in my opinion. Some of the armor I’ve seen in BL looks more like For Honor, where the intention is to make the character look as big and intimidating as possible, as opposed to representing something that would protect the wearer and let him fight for prolonged period of time without passing out from exhaustion.

I think it looks fine and you're just nitpicking

Anyone who’s seen two Lindybeige videos would know that that armor is more akin to fantasy than reality.
And yes i am nitpicking a bit, it really doesnt affect gameplay, but why come up with some fantasy armor when the real deal looks better?

    Bannerlord map too mountainous?

    Yabloko 说:
The only problem I see is that mountains are arranged 'randomly'. If you look at any real world height map such as this:
    Physical+map+of+Europe+2.PNG

It becomes apparent that mountains do not form in clusters of ridges but rather (usually) in chains from which rivers emanate or plateaus where these rivers cut valleys. It might be that Calradia is naturally rugged, but even then the terrain would not be a uniform mass of mountains, instead it would have a general skape.

You laid it out perfectly. Exactly what I mean by it being unrealistic. It just seems like the mountains are randomly strewn about.

*Glass breaks" hmmm, you are rigth, a bit much mountains , but i think it´s not a big deal and will not effect the gameplay very  much. The only problem what i see is that you may have everytime a Mountain in front of you und you have to rotate the cam every second.

My problem is not so much with gameplay as it is with looks and realism. I don’t think the mountains will have a considerably good or bad effect on the gameplay. I would just like to see some variation. I want both vast mountain ranges with a bunch of chokepoints, dense forests and big open plains. I agree witth what other people have mentioned about it looking claustrophobic and cramped. We’ll have to wait for more pictures of the map, but to me it seems like they’ve just strewn mountains everywhere even in the desert and the Khuzait plains. It does not make sense for a faction like the Vlandians that rely on heavy cavalry to live in a densely mountainous areas, same with the Khuzait and Aserai who rely on light cav.

    Bannerlord map too mountainous?

Besides, I think we`re overreacting a bit here. As shown in full screenshots of the map, there is still plenty of open fields and valleys that should have room to maneuver. From what I`ve seen, TW seems to have divided some of the plains into smaller sections with mountain ranges. I think this is, game-wise, a good change, as it limits crazy gallops across the continent to pillage one village.

Also many of the pics are from the Battania/Vlandia part of the map, which, based on WB, is going to be one of the most mountainous parts of the map. Just cause there is a mountain range there doesn`t mean there won`t be open spaces as well.

In the one screenshot I posted where you are looking from Oks Hall and south-eastward, you can clearly see that the mountains dont seem to stop.

It’s important to remember that Bannerlord is considered low-fantasy.

Fantasy doesnt change the fundamentals of armor. At least not when the armor is supposed to be worn by humans. I would give them a pass if it was an orc wearing that armor, but it is a human and therefore his armor should resemble something that would be comfortable for a human to wear. Warband has quite good armor, so there is no reason why bannerlord shouldn’t.

    DanAngleland 说:
Ugly armours and too much armour: Most of the armours look ok to me, some I really like, but I dislike the bulkiness of some troops and over abundance of metal even on mid tier troops. If Calradia at this time broadly reflects dark ages and a bit later, then I would like to see fewer troops with metal armours (though I hate leather and studded stuff; just give them normal clothes, maybe some with furs, and have majority cope with shield and helmet for protection) and fewer barded horses. That's not to say the horse bards don't generally look nice, they do, but I feel a bit like they shouldn't be so prevalent; each faction seems to have them for their high tier cav. It's especially strange to see such horses getting so easily hacked down. I could be wrong about my impression that there wouldn't be so many well armoured troops in this era. On further thought I may also be getting a skewed impression of the number of armoured troops by the Captain Mode vids, when I suppose the troops might not be quite the same as in the main game.

The ugly armours though are ones such as the Battanian axemen one with the chunky small breastplate; he already wears a scale vest (with mail visible on the upper arms), but apparently needs this small and overly decorated breastplate which is secured by a harness with chunky leather and metal shoulder pads. I don't like the colour of the metal on this troop either, it makes it look rather flat (I think it's a realistic finish to the metal, I've seen metal weapons and armour like that, but I just don't find it appealing). I think it is a sort of matte polish. In contrast most of the scale armours of the Empire look gorgeous.

I agree so much with this.
The armor resembles something more akin to a what you would see at a cosplay convention or at a LARP fest, rather than what you would actually see in the early middle-ages.

And over-exaggerated amount of furs that provide no protection and would only serve to encumber and overheat the wearer.
    STUDDED LEATHER!!!
Bulky stuff that only makes the wearer look big.
    Forearm gauntlets.

If you look at an in-game picture it looks incredibly crowded.

    https://i.imgur.com/vXMpBnP.jpg

I do not have a problem with the mountain-ranges in Warband, because they have alot of open space in between them. It seems as though the Bannerlord map just has a bunch of small mountains strewn around as opposed to terrain that makes any sense.

It is to keep balance between factions and make it so some faction will not start sweeping the whole map.

Can't that be done through limiting the AI in some way?

I mean, it is not nescessarily a bad thing either, it is a common occurence in history that one "faction" has "sweeped" large areas, conquering everything in their path. And it is no fun if it remains a stalemate throughout the whole game, with no factions having conquered any considerable amount of land.
I guess , I somehow implied that it is gonna be a stalemate.  It actually is bound to the AI. The new AI is supposedly smarter and will make use of the chokepoints and will make preparations before going to a combat through those choke points. who ever harasses enemies economy better will have bigger advantage and therefore capture villages , cities.

I do not know how it is a bad thing for factions to be balanced??? When it comes to conquering lands , it will depend on the AI , what kinds of alliances or peace deals will they make, will they be able to sustain their economy etc. They are not gonna just sit ducks. Balance does not mean that.

Yes, of course factions should be balanced. They should all be good at their respective things based on what the landscape they inhabit is like, just like in Warband.
My problem is that the map seems to be littered with mountains, which is neither realistic nor good-looking.
It also removes some of the charm of each region having a different landscape and the factions reflecting that based on their troops and culture.

Was just wondering about your guys' opinion on the Bannerlord map being incredibly mountainous? I get that they're trying to create chokepoints and whatnot to make for strategical gameplay, but i think it is a bit too much. I'd like there to be mountains, dont get me wrong, but I'd prefer it to...
