  1. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

hmm that is odd as they seem to work fine for me, any idea what the weapon is called? and i'll check it out.
  2. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

I've been hunting around the osp material on this site and the only archer/ranged items i have really found are one crossbow and a couple of firearms that don't quite animate properly.
I've had a tinker with wings 3d but i must confess that it is a touch confusing at the moment.
unfortunately I think i've pretty much reached the limits of what i can do with this project.
It's original intention was to bring some of the best osp items into the standard single player game in a way that ensured balance, credit for the original artists and helped other new players like myself learn to add mod items.
That seems to have been achieved to the best of my ability.

    So, happy modding everyone.

  3. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

Well, the second layer is now out, a few less items this time around but i'm sure a few more will follow and i will get around to adding proper scabbards soonish for the swords in the first layer, in the meantime... All feedback appreciated and once again a big thankyou to Talak, Narf, Faradon, Maw, Dejawolf, RR_Raptor, mtarini and  morgh for thier OSP content.

I'm now off to actually PLAY the game properly for a few days lol

I'll be checking back here every now and again, so, keep the comments coming even if everything works fine it's nice to hear.

    Happy Modding
  4. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

This is currently a very big learning experience for me as i have never publicly released any mod or items for any game, ever....
At the moment i'm just working toward bringing a little more variety to this already great game by reviving some great items from other people that i loved on sight and had to have in my game.

    I don't even have wings 3D

I haven't even looked at the sections of the item editor that deal with menu's and until recently i thought a python script was written for  snake extra's in movies (still don't understand it to be honest) lol

Basicly, all the recompiling i have done so far has been with Mtarini's open Brf and Morgh's item editor (knew i forgot a credit somewhere sorry) and trial and error.

I have just gotten hold of the freely available texture editor "gimp" however and it has featured heavilly in the stuff i'm working on for release later this week.

(Very glad to hear everything is working fine for you by the way, very reasuring lol)

  5. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

In order to try to maintain the games balance i have made a few of the good items or items that should be rare a tiny bit less available.
However i havent made any of them faction specific as the version of item editor i had at the time didn't support that.
After loading up new items it can take a week or so (game time) for items to start appearing in the shops. If  in doubt however, double check that you have installed everything you need to.

Resources, Textures, copy pasted the item kinds lines, updated the item total number at the top of the same page and copy pasted the module ini line.

The amount of times i've wondered why my new test item isn't showing up only to realise i've missed one of the above lol
  6. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

Currently in the process of testing some more items!
Watch this space for a second download link to even more goodies It will be released in the same format, but to avoid confusion i won't be including the items allready released.....
  7. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

    Thanks for the support.
Hope it all works ok, i have been playing today with the items in and since i fixed those couple of errors it seems to be working as intended.
If you spot anything amiss though please leave some input.
Or letting me know it all works ok would be good too lol
  8. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

Now updated to 1.01 all previous errors should now be fixed, no new items as yet.
  9. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

  10. SP Native The chocolate box Warband Variety mod (updated)

Basicly this is a multi option variety items mod for Mount and Blade Warband single player aimed at people new to the game. I have tried my best to give comprehensive instructions for adding these newly compiled items to the game, sorry if the instructions come accross as patronising, i'm as new...
  11. Quick question about item limits

I have been following some earlier advice (from your good self as it happens).
I have been renaming BRf's and their contents to match the name of their authors where possible, using the original creators name in the itemkinds lines and trying to make sure nothing borrows meshes or textures from anywhere else, fortunately most of the open source material includes it's own meshes and pretty well named textures.

So far i have put together about 50 items from FARADON, TALAK and a few from NARF So a big thankyou to those guys for making their creations open sourced.

My intention is to try to create a "chocolate box" type mod for those who (like myself) are new to Warband so they can get some extra variety into their vanilla version of the game without overly breaking the current timeline, just relaxing it a tiny bit.

So far, apart from a few minor hiccups, everything works and nothing crashes. It may seem like a small thing to some, but as a total novice, i'm a little pleased with how it's going lol

If i can keep myself motivated i think i may well release it when more is done. Barring any objections from the original artists of course.

Unfortunately, with all the great osp stuff out there it could take some time..... and i  probably will find that item limit eventually hehe.

Oh and thankyou for giving me the confidence to continue.
  12. Quick question about item limits

Hi there, i'm currently trying to use a combination of open BRF and item editor to compile a series of osp items into a "Mod" of variety items for Warband Vanilla that will be easilly accesible to newer players (like myself). Thus removing the need for more questions like this for all you old...
  13. sorry if this is in the wrong place, didn't seem to fit anywhere else though

Sorry, yeah typed the wrong thing i'm using open brf lol
    Thanks again all
  14. couldn't see anywhere else to post this really....

Thankyou all for the clarifications, i guess the general consensus is, don't mess with a mod but with brf edit and some patience it is possible to combine several osp's (or maybe mod items) into Native. I've been.... tinkering.... with open Brf so if my patience holds out i might get everything i want to see into Native.... Eventually lol

Thanks again for your time and patience.
  15. sorry if this is in the wrong place, didn't seem to fit anywhere else though

Thankyou both for the insight and the advice, it was driving me a bit loopy having some really good items but not being able to combine them in one huge extravagansa of Warbandy goodness.
I have since picked up a copy of brfedit and started tinkering....
Time will tell on my success or failure (or patience for that matter lol)  but thanks for the info, it has helped me clarify things in my head, if it ever gets to the point where i release the whole lot as an ubermodpack i'll be sure to mention the original texture artists or get permission where necessary.
  16. couldn't see anywhere else to post this really....

    Thanks, i'll try there too.
  17. sorry if this is in the wrong place, didn't seem to fit anywhere else though

If this is in the wrong place i apologies but it didn't seem to fit anywhere else. Just a quick request really to modders in general. I've downloaded a few mods lately for Warband. 1257ad improved. warring nations and 15th century. i was just thinking that between those and the couple of osp...
  18. Expanded Companions [Idea]

i too know nothing but the joys of tweak mb and the itemkinds editor  However, this is a brilliant idea! It would be so good to see.

Personally, if it was in a mod that had weapons and armour from 1257ad (minus the european heraldry of course) plus armour from the varied surcoats osp and 15th century and an extra faction like warring nations i'd probably have to hug someone!

Hope somebody runs with this (without scissors preferably )

  20. [B] OSP Warband Item Variants 1.6 RELEASED (New Screens)

Well, like i say, i have used the text editor to put your gauntlets into every new game right at the start so that i can check them straight away and all i get is the old style gauntlet showing up. I now have a brf editor (openbrf) though and there are three pages displayed in your brf the first page there are about 18 entries for the different mesh parts all called gauntletsb_(whatever).
The second page (Mat) shows two flat textures both with different names (gauntlets_newb and gauntlets_newc) and the third page (tex) shows two items named gauntlets_newb.dds and gauntlets_newc.dds the "material" box shows as gauntletsnew_c
