    Vicky is only controlling the enemy troops, she's not affecting the formations of your own troops. The Formations is based on Motomataru's formation scripts. There might be a bug there but I have not experienced it. In any case, formations might have an issue with the battle-sizer. I personally don't use the battle-sizerr so I haven't tested the formations in combination with a battle size over 150 units.

    OK. Sry for mixing vicky and formations code (actually would love to have them separated options cause for some reason I have never really liked formations in MnB or WB but love vicky). Also battelsize might explain something. Currently Im running it at 850 so get full advantage of large footed army. So it might just be that formations and big battlesize really don't like each other. That would also make sense since everytime I have had that problem I have been fighting big battle with over 600 troops in map at same time.

    If you select the archers and then press U (as in undo formation) and then put the archers in Hold position -- Does that fix the issue?
    If the answer is yes, then there is an issue in the formations code, otherwise there is another issue.
    Need to try that tomorrow when get back to my gaming rig. But yep. Overall it has happen 4-5 times so far and PoP has been only mod where I have had this kind of problem so atm it seems to be something related to this mod and vicky. Will post more details when have chance to try to duplicate it to find out if there is some specific situation where it happens.

    You wanted to know how to make game harder by selecting different tactics, troops, etc...?

    Well for that there is no easy answer. Its depends much about your personal style how different nations and tactics effects to your overall challenge. For example 1 poster said that you should try foot armies to get more challenge. For me that would be otherwise. I suck when using cavalry heavy armies but with footed everything is easier than taking cup of coffee. Same with battlesize. For me bigger battlesize=easier battle. So best way to find most challenging gaming experience is just to try different tactics, troops.

    Yep.. You quite nicely did nail why I hate cavalry heavy armies. All you need is to hit f1 f3 :razz:

    But tbh. So far I have noticed that almost every mod and in almost every battles nicely managed infantry tactics will result lower casualties than only using heavy cavalry. I think it because, like you said, infantry battles have lower pace so you have more time to manage your troops. Next just need to try high battle sizes. Seems that 350 isn't enough for this mod. Can't take full advantage of infantry formations. To get footed armies really work you have to be able to field as many of your soldiers as possible. So next challenge for PoP is to find balance between details and battlesize.

    Good to know that you have kept vassal route in mind when making this mod. Tbh that is something what really makes mount & blade so special. As vassal you really are just 1 commander in huge world and that gives your certain limitations.

    Also it looks that my doubts about infantry armies being underpowered was mistake. I got that feeling after checking about different troop trees and party compositions. But after having first battles with infantry only Empire army I must say that they rock. I think reason why I like footed armies is that they are little easier to control during battles when you don't need to worry about your cavalry that always seems to get stuck in somewhere.

    So after years finally decided to test this mod and everything seems quite nice so far (after about 4 hours of game time).

    However have couple questions that would greatly help me for planning my game if answered.

    1. It seems that this mode has also been heavily designed around "make your own kingdom" route. For me, who have always favored vassal approach, this gives little headache. Is vassal route viable in this mod if plan is to "win"?

    2. As big supporter of footed armies and in native I have always preferred Rhodoks. So it seems that Empire would be best option for me. Also, is footed army an option cause it seems that many armies in PoP are quite heavy with cavalry.



    Ps. If these questions have been all ready answered would really appreciate for helping me to find those. Search function of this forum just don't seem to like me :grin:
  7. Knight type Character weapon advice

    I have always liked playing knight character and for field battles my thoughts about weapons comes like this.

    Good at early stages of came when you still don't have money for charger and heavy armor cause it gives you option to get some easy kills without getting too close of enemy. Later it will be quite useless cause you can get those single hit kills easily with melee weapons and you have armor good enough to take some hits when you go close.

    Melee weapons:

    I see only  3 choices for those. Morningstar, long arming sword and bastard sword. What you use is mostly about your personal choice. Every 1 of them is capable for those 1 hit kills while charging enemy. Personally I always have heavy morningstar and either balanced heavy bastard sword and balanced long arming sword with me (depends witch I'm able to get 1st during game). Morningstar is for fighting enemies with heavy armor like swadian high tier troops, mameluks etc and sword to take down light armored enemies fast.

    I really don't like 2 handers cause I have been getting hit from throwing weapons or crossbows too many times while making my charge and nothing will ruin your day better than javelin sticking from your head. So shield is almost always something you really want to have.

    Shield:

    Mostly about your personal choice also. Personaly I try to 1st get knightly heater shield and when I get my shield skill for 5+ I normally start using steel shield.

Itse päädyin moottorialiupseeriksi ja täytyy myöntää että hommaan ei kyllä mitenkään liittynyt sotilaallisuus vaan enemmän oltiin kuin työntekijöitä (tosin pirun pienellä palkalla :grin:).

    Kuljetuksen jälkeen valintavuorossa oli spol ja ylijääneet sijoitettiin sitten kuka minnekkin.

    Tähän toimintaan vaikutti tietenkin lennoston pienet saapumiserät (noin 100-120 henkeä per erä) sekä myös päivittäisen toiminnan eroavaisuudet esim maavoimiin.

    Heh.. Itellä sama ongelma. Normaali rytmi on sellanen 20-25 tuntia hereillä minkä jälkeen 10-14 tuntia unta.

    Yep.. Would be really nice to get some hard evidence about that claim about samurai sword hardness..

    Somehow I really don't buy that it would have mohs grade of 9. Just for reference materials that have that grade are for example titanium and tungsten carbides.

    Also good quality modern hardened steel used in knives and similar is about 55-62 in HRC scale that equals about 5-5.5 in mohs scale.

  14. Damage set to Normal.

    Yep.. Normal dmg can cause quite epic moments...

    1 of my best was my first battle ever against Tundra bandits. Had couple swadian men at arms with me againts about 15 bandits.
    Decided to make normal charge against then thinking that they can't be that hard to take down. Well result was that as soon I did get to range of their jarids and javelins both me and my horse was taken down faster than I could even understand what had just happened. Once again lesson learned. Never rush enemy you don't know :grin:
  15. Hopeful...but putting this game aside for now

    About this game being masterpiece. I really can say it is for me. Only single player game that I have spent more time with is Falcon 4/freefalcon/ Falcon AF.  I have actually allready spent more time with warband  than any other game expect orginal MnB and Falcon.
  16. Suggestion: Making your own troops for your kingdom.

    Yea.. Culture don't change.

    But when really thinking it you should see that military training don't depend from culture. Its depend from trainer. That's why I think it would make lots of sense to have troop upgrades depend from nation of character belongs. Basicly you always get just peasant's. If you join to faction you would be able to train troops of that nation. Of course we would need something for that stage you start your own faction.

    Like this idea much. Tbh only reason why I haven't start own kingdom in my game is that I would hate to bu stuck with mixed mess of other nations troops.

    Also idea of high tier troop tied to RtR is not bad. Might still need some trial and error to find right balance for that. Another thing Im thinking is demand of certain amount in leadership/training skills for higher tier troops.

    Yea.. This is great feature. Something I have wanted for years. IMO 1 of the best little things they did add to Warband.

    I actually founded it from manual couple days ago when was bored and decided to read it just to spend couple mins before went to bed :grin: (leason learned... always check manual even if you have played game for years. You can never know what you fill find)

    Well.. All I really want is that default order would be changed to hold this postion.

    Aligning troops is easy enough allready. Just select group and hold F1 so that nice little flag appears and then just look where you want to place that current group and they will go there and hold their position.

    btw.. I really have feeling that many haven't discovered this "hold F1" feature
