No proper walking sound, can't hear the approaching enemy from behind

I haven't seen anyone talking about this, but I'm not sure it's only me who finds it meaningless. I play as an archer situated far from the heat of the battle shooting arrows from a corner quietly, and a full chain-armored infantry with a big ass shield and a sword walks in on me from behind...

[BL] Warbanner - Bringing Warband to Bannerlord

It's a chance to improve on Warband. It's not like they're going to make the graphics the same. Many people looked forward to M&BII (ever since 2012) because they knew it could be improved upon in sensible ways. It had every chance of being a spectacular, glorious masterpiece that would have unequivocably left Warband in the dust. Yet instead it ended up being a convoluted, incompetent, crashy mess. Perhaps there's a way of implementing WB-style animations so that it's smoother? I don't think most people would object to that.

I recorded some duels in Bannerlord...

If that's what it takes for duels to be shorter, I don't think it's for a good reason.

    --

Also, two more ideas for a WB-style mod:

    Switching items
BL's item switching has been problematic for 3+ years. I think it actually got worse at one point. It seems unreliable, and at the very least tedious and annoying. I don't think there were any problems with Warband's system; it worked really well, and it's not something I ever contemplated as being in need of a change.

    Ladders/ramps
I can understand why ladders underwent a change, but since they're so clunky and slow now, something else could be included as well, especially for Skirmish/Battle. If ramps can be made to be raised in WB's style, then this might fill the same function that WB's ladders served; they used to work more like ramps anyway. Without these (or faster-style ladders) maps like San'di'boush or anything similar won't play out in the same way.

Feinting has always been a problem for M&B, I believe. I watched the video, and I must say I have not seen anything different than what it was in Warband. I never liked ''good'' players looking like they are having seizures when they are dueling, I tend to not duel or play with them. IMO, BL has way less of them compared to WB. Let's admit it, the core of the combat mechanics in M&B games in general is pretty abuse-liable. That's a problem in and of itself. One can feint a weapon (no matter how heavy it is) to eternity without any penalty in swing/movement speed whatsoever. In a game where everything thrives on physics, I was never a fan of that. It never made sense to me.

I believe most of the people who are disgruntled about BL's combat don't like the fact that they don't have full control over all the animations. Warband combat was much more sharp, and responsive. But I came to like that little bit of unpredictable nature of animations that comes with the BL's combat. It feels like it has much more room to make mistakes and/or do spectacular things. Animations have much more room to breath. I remember there were some godly players in Warband, you would consider yourself lucky if you could land a single hit on them. Now everyone has a chance to land a hit on each other and I like that. It may not be the best for duels, but it works well with other game modes, where there are multiple targets you need to be aware of.

I'm not against this mod though, If some people think that they have a better vision in terms of combat. I would like them to show it, and I will try it. Maybe there is something that I am missing, and maybe I'll love it. Lol, you never know.

[BL] Warbanner - Bringing Warband to Bannerlord

I actively play Bannerlord but I occasionaly visit my old friend and play Warband on my old laptop when I am not home. To be honest, I don't want BL's combat to look, feel and play like Warband. That **** feels janky and old compared to BL. BL's animations are much more crisp, smooth and can't be abused as much as Warband's. Duels that take forever... No man. Thanks.

    Forum days are over

It is much better than Vanilla Warband in every aspect. Just stop it. Still overwhelmingly unimmersive though, but surely mods will take care of that. I cannot imagine playing vanilla campaign but twas the same with Warband too. So yeah.

    The dialogues&interactions with NPC's

It really keeps me awake at night, damn. Just hire me, and I feel like I can make dialogues and lore much more interesting&deep overnight. Why do they just neglect this? How hard can it actually be...

Post Launch, which Kinds of Mods Will Be the Most Important to You?

Bannerkings + diplomacy + RBM is my dream bannerlord, as long as these mods keep working/being updated i'm happy with the game.

Just a shame we had to relly on mods yet again when TW had everything they needed from the success of classic/warband to implement beloved features and expand upon them.
I tried to use all these 3 mods at the same time, but it crashed when I clicked ''decisions'' button on character menu...

Getting disconnected from the lobby, cannot join any server

I keep getting disconnected from the lobby even though I have no internet connection issues. Even if I make it to the servers list, which does not load up properly, it takes forever to join a game and %99 percent of the time I get the same disconnection warning. Am I the only one suffering from...

Cannot even connect to the server to reach the multiplayer menu/lobby after TW intro. A general server problem I assume? Or new contents incoming?

    The dialogues&interactions with NPC's

Recently having a blast with SP as I have installed Banner Kings and RBM, but one thing that really bothers me is the limited dialogues/interactions with NPC's. It feels so shallow, lacks complexity and therefore affects the overall lore and feel of the game. The dialogues are already text...

A Suggestion: Taunts and Emotes in MP

But I think we've seen countless examples of where it leads to more frustration than enjoyment of the game. This is just my opinion, but if I want to communicate with people I will just hop into a discord server talk there.
But... but... but... you will %100 have the option to mute them all and just go on with your game. How will that lead to any frustration? In a situation where you are too lazy to turn off the VoIP?

I've been playing skirmish with random people, and I really felt the need for a VoIP. Discord is not gonna help me in this situation. How am I supposed to talk with random people I find on BL matchmaking on Discord? I usually get this ''We have Discord'' argument whenever I talk about VoIP. I dont know why it is so hard to grasp.

A Suggestion: Taunts and Emotes in MP

they have a mod for native warband that allows you to do this,

the entire server was filled with "away you vile beggar, etc" spammed all the time

horrible idea in my opinion unless you have an option to disable it completely for people who do not want to hear it
It shouldn't be a concern. There can be a cooldown everytime you use it, so you cant spam it. I think that's how it worked on NeoGK. Maybe they can only be allowed on goofy deathmatch servers where people kill each other mindlessly. I like it. Warband was such a meme-y goofy game and Bannerlord just pales in comparison. Too boring and too serious in terms of atmosphere. (You can't even be that naked char with a 2 handed sword ffs lol) Taunts and emojis would help make it a little relaxed, welcoming and fun.

A Suggestion: Taunts and Emotes in MP

If you're talking about NeoGK, i actually find the taunting to be pretty fun. I never figured out what button makes you say "Away with you, vile beggar" and "It's almost harvesting season!"
I sunk so many hours on NeoGK servers, because it was just so funny. I remember cry-laughing for minutes because of a perfectly timed ''Oi you there! Stop!'' sound lol.

    Rambo-Cav in captain mode

I've often suggested a softer version of this - where if you leave a certain range for too long your units automatically charge - as the chain of command has broken down. This would also mean in the very late game where cav gets scattered - they will continue to act as they do now.

This would fix this issue pretty much immediately as letting your guys just charge will largely be less effective then using them properly.
Yeah this one makes more sense than mine. Definitely would solve the problem

    Rambo-Cav in captain mode

Not sure if it's been written in the thread but, one possible solution may be if the captain of a warband leaves his party alone for too long, or goes far away from them they lose morale and retreat. OR they choose a new AI captain and act on their own. Either way, the player loses his party if he decides to go rambo mode.

A Suggestion: Taunts and Emotes in MP

Some of the people in the forum literally exist to spread negativity, it feels like their whole purpose is to oppose to/disagree with everything that's been said.

Just like the people who are opposed to the implementation of VoIP in MP, then don't ****ing use it mate. There you go.

A Suggestion: Taunts and Emotes in MP

I know we have a lot of things/issues to discuss concerning MP, and what I am going to say is not one of them but it just crossed my mind while I was watching a Mordhau video. I believe it would be funny as f*** to be able to taunt your enemies in the heat of the battle. Like being able to say...

Statement Regarding Plans For MP Vol.5

    It's a surprise, that's the fun part
I sometimes wish I have never played BL, now I cannot go back to play Warband. I play SP and MP equally, but BL's MP is in miserable state.

Jeez, I hadn't even got to play PoP mod in my 1000 hours of Warband journey. But now, it feels very weird to go back and play Warband because Bannerlord's combat (in Singleplayer), animations and looks feel way better and Warband's feels very outdated. On the other hand, Warband's total conversion mods, or even the vanilla version have more depth and lore than Bannerlord's Calradia. It blows my mind having 8-9 years of development time yet making a more shallow, less responsive version of Calradia.

Random thought outburst, sorry mate. Lol.
