But a little more balance couldnt hurt.
Something like making the xbows more accurate, deadlier but way longer to reload.
Thus excellent during sieges and for small groups vs small groups fights or castle sieges.
And longbowmen very tough "en masse" good for outside battles.
In one word, historically accurate

Well this discussion starts to become quite interestingm especially because it goes further than simply a language specific discussion.

Some games have solved the problem by opening specific language forums and even translations of the game in the most spoken or "impotant" languages in Europe and to some extend in the world:
Spanish, French and German.
I am mainly refering to Blizzard and its ugly (personal opinion, sorry for that!) World of Warcraft.

Now I dont think that we should think like that. After all, we have a finnish forum also! (Hei kaikille Suomalaisille)
and we all know that finns are only 5 millions...
In my humble opinion it's all about influence and popularity of the game.
In its present state with the languages we know, and we have,
but also in the future.

I was just pointing out (and I am not the only one...) that a thread like that for asking something serious is plently stupid.


Funny that for asking something after all quite legitime, some thought that making a fake poll and vomitting racial hatred and xenophobia in it would make them obtain what they wish.

First as I said before, this thread is a JOKE.
So it wont be taken seriously by the mods/admins, and it shouldnt be taken seriously: if you want something, try at least to have som credibility.

Second, and this goes mainly to Tankai, insulting people and nations or simply taunting them in threads wont help.
That tends to prove only a total lack of maturity, which I admit suits perfectly with this fake poll.
Instead of a language specific forum, it's a forum for 6-12 yo that should be set in place! 

Third, just as for the french forum, or any other language specific forum, I think that they could exist only if you have enough members for them.
And in the present state, sorry, I dont see enough members for a portuguese forum.

Though, your agument concerning the lack of knowledge of english of certain members is indeed a good point and the same applies to french (sadly if you ask me).

I would vote NO for two reasons:

First if you are serious or want to be seen as serious, set up a serious vote and not a yes/yes like you did.
You just lost all credibility.

No also because you dont need a forum for so few members.
With more, I could change my mind.

Seriously, I would love a french forum! I'm english but I speak very good french too. I know a few french poeple who played/were interested in playing mount and blade. And I also showed it to a couple of mates in france who were put off by the fact that the game has no french mod/no french forum. I think it would open up a large new market to have a french version of M&B (unofficial or official) especially with the growing interest in action/adventure games and RPGs in France.

Hehe, no worries mate. Even with your mistake-vote, the "yes" leads clearly with 11+11=22, vs only 8 strict "no".

Add to your french knowledge "I love you" and you can combine the two into a wonderful and so cute "I love you, my guinea pig" 
(which can be, seriously, quite romantic... if you know the girl well, of course. I just hope for you that she doesnt look live a real guinea pig though  )

As André isnt always at home and/or active on the forum, I could help if you need one more moderator.
I have experience in site administration and forum moderation, which can help.
And I think that as a 34 yo guy I am already quite mature (except when I play the game  )
I live in Finland (GMT+2) but french from Honfleur-Le Havre.

I made a test yesterday, by editing a character cheat:

I set my 1hd weapon's weapon prof at 141 (just above the limit for WM=2, so WM's fast learning wont have an effect anymore),
and killed things until I get weapon prof 145.

I did it first with a character with WM=0. It took me 81 "sword swings" to reach 145.
Then I did it with WM=2, and it took me 78 "sword swings" to reach 145.

My temporary conclusion:
Once you reach the weapon prof limit, WM is useless.
WM is good for training faster weapon prof until the limit, but if you play your character a lot, you will eventually reach the same weapon prof sooner or later, even if you dont spend points in WM.

That is a thing that I still dont understand with WM:
When you reach the weapon prof. level of your WM, is your weapon prof. gain still faster than without WM?
Everybody is talking about how fast you get weapon prof. with WM, but they are talking about weapon prof. gain BEFORE reaching the limit...
Cause before reaching that point, it's clear that the character with WM points will get his weapon prof. points very fast, but when he will reach the set weapon prof. points, is there any use in WMl anymore?

Just as an example. two character at level 50, one with WM=10 the other with WM=0, both at 500 weapon prof. in archery (so basically clearly above the effect limit of WM)...
If they fight the same battle, do the WM=10 character get archery at 501 before the other guy?

Let's slightly come back to the original question of "diminishing return" of skills, if you dont mind 

ok, so 10 is the cap for all skills.
I guess that when you plan a character, you always think about 4-6 skills which are "top priority" (cause they are the real essence of your character, for example PD, HA, Riding for a horse-archer... obvious)...
other skills being simply less important or more "utilitary".

I read somewhere that level 63 is the maximum level for a character. At that level you will have at least 63+INT skills, which is enough to max out all your "top priority" skills and have a comfortable pool of "utilitary" skills.
So, (and this is my temporary conclusion, please comment that one please if you disagree) the game allows you to "max out" your character if you have chosen a clear path and if you havent wasted your skill points in useless skills...
