Hidden in the bushes out in the streets. I found it right away out of blind luck...the one in Tihr is fairly well hidden. You'll likely have to mouse over it to find it.

Good lord. Three pages and still this? It's a beta test!:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_test

Don't whine that people aren't receptive to "constructive criticism" when you're stating that something isn't up to "commercial release" standards that you think should be perfect and you want satisfaction because you paid for it.

You paid a reduced amount to participate in what you knew was, in effect, a closed indie beta. If you didn't understand what that meant, or didn't read the fine print, then no one here is going to have any sympathy for you.

For the sake of the sanity of all those around you, I provide the following "constructive criticism":

    The WRONG way:
"OMG! This is broken! Some OTHER game that had a huge budget didn't do it this way! I'm a professional beta tester even though I have no idea what that means, including the fact that it's an oxymoron! I can't believe I'm not getting immediate gratification of my every whim, because I paid real cashy money!"

    The Right Way:
    "Hey, I have a question/idea/suggestion about the following feature/bug/build/idea."

When you paid for the game there was a big disclaimer regarding the current state and the reason you were getting a discount. If you don't like the fact that it's a beta (have you gotten that from any of the previous three pages? Beta? Please?) then play the stable version on the homepage, or wait until v1.0 (the actual "commercial" version that you paid for, which you get for the reduced price for signing on early)!

    Gah!

  5. Lords getting stuck on the world map and not moving, help!

Eventually they will end that campaign and begin a new one - when this happens, they will unstick.

Annoying, but not game ending...though, depending on how far into 0952 you are, you might consider a restart.

  6. 0952 Hired Blades

Ah, okay. Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better, and is more in line with the sort of design choices that I've come to expect from this crew.

(Though I still think it's a bit odd to have Hired Blades with plate & lance on foot - thankfully, I'm playing as a Nord, and they're Hell on Wheels in melee...when they finally drag their iron asses into the fray.)

    -Tiglath-

PS - I love this game. I hadn't said that in a few days, and didn't want it to feel neglected.
  7. 0952 Hired Blades

Maybe it's just me, but I'm a bit disappointed in the unhorsing of Hired Blades. I mean, they're designed as heavy calvary. If they're too potent, tone down their skills a bit or something. I guess I don't get why they moved them to ultra-heavy infantry and put in medium calvary - if they...

Just got them, and they're pretty much useless. You'd think they'd be really good, or at least worth a lot

Far from useless. I find them to be among the best equipment in the game for a Footman. A brilliant balance between defence and encumbrance. The *No stab with greatsword* thing annoys me though. I wanna impale people on my katana.

Only if they model it getting stuck (which it would).

Curved for cleaving, not for stabbing.

  9. Is 0.952 save compatible with 0.951?

Well, restarting is sort of a pain, but you can export - so it's not a total loss.

Also, it's not yet a commercial product. I would suspect they will work on fixing that before going gold.

  10. .952 changes

    Hired Blades on foot? Gah.

Imagine my surprise, after reimporting and rebuilding my force to be leading a heavy calvary charge and looking back to see a bunch of heavy infantry with lances.

I get that Hired Blades on horseback were badass. I mean, I'm playing a heavy calvary character for that reason - a wall of charging knights in heavy armor.

I just don't get the medium merc horsemen and putting Hired Blades on foot - heavy lancer infantry doesn't make a whole lot of sense, does it? Do I have to recruit Swandians, now, to have my heavy lancers?

  11. Nobody is sleeping there!

The game doesn't model using the privy, either, but I don't assume that all my characters are dancing from foot to foot.

Sleep is abstracted. Stuff like hunting is already modeled in the game - if you run out of food, your travel speed is reduced to compensate for having to forage to feed yourselves.

I think that for the purpose of the game, the current system works fine - you can move at night, and this has many tactical and strategic implications - if I'm using hit-and-run tactics, which I often do, moving at night is a big deal.

If you're upset by being able to travel during darkness, don't do it. It's a single player game...it's not like you're going to be impacted that greatly by adjusting your play style to fit your concept of the game.

  12. Can I please get the companion abandoment feature turned off?

    Mhydrian 说:
Exactly Alfred, I have wanted to hunt them down and kill them for stealing from me too. But honestly I am losing more than equipment. I am losing time invested in leveling and also the specialized role I had them fill.

The whole NPC system adds so much to the game, having it break randomly is quite destructive. It's a bad feature, or at least not a universally popular one.

Okay, I think you might be overstating this just a little. It's not random, you're told who is unhappy, and why they are unhappy. Also, you can get them back - it's not like they died, or won't rejoin your party for free, later on.

If two of your companions can't get along, you pick the one you want to keep around and show the other one the way home (sans all that shiny gear). Or try to keep morale at a level that it doesn't matter - in my (limited) experience, eventually someone will leave if they don't like one of the others.

In any case, you are warned, and you can do something about it - select your companions appropriately. If you just HAVE to have all the NPCs, then you have to accept the cost of it.

  16. "Segmented" battles

I sort of get the staged battles thing - you get some waves of reinforcement, then there's a pause after a certain amount of casualties...not totally implausable.

The problem for me is that you can't save in these pauses - some of these big battles take forever, and I'd sort of like to be able to save  in there. I can see why you wouldn't want to save during a fight (the save system isn't designed to record all that specific data) but in between fights it seems more like an interface issue.

Yeah, I know you can give commands already but there should be more. Really, I dont have the time to take command over the infantry and placing it over there, give orders to archer and then the cavalry. Before they are in position, the enemy is already there. Then the command "Hold this position" makes all the soldier stand in one spot, all together, how smart is that when they are archers.

There should be more, but you don't have time to use what's there? *Grin*

I think it's fairly reasonable that you only have a certain amount of time to issue orders and maneuver before you're engaged by the enemy - they're not going to let you dig in any more than they have to. I play a mounted character, so I guess I have it easy - I can charge ahead, find a good spot to deploy my archers and infantry, then lead my own flanking maneuvers, charges, or whatever with my calvary.

If I'm going to fight on foot, I generally am doing so due to the terrain, so I order my calvary to dismount as well.

What exactly did you have in mind other than "more"? The system as it is works fairly well - though being able to designate spots via line-of-sight would be handy, I guess.

I mean, I'm not trying to be obstinate - I'm actually curious as to what more you're after.

    Caine 说:
VIII. A more tactic approach to battles. Before the battle you should be able to mobilize your army into position. Right now you wont have the time before the cavalry comes charging in on you. Give your captain (SiC) a part of the army and mobilze him further into the forest where they can hide. When the enemy infantry clash into your infantry you sound the horn and your captain charge into their flank with your cavalry. More strategic approach to the battle! Of course the enemy can do the same.
One example, think of the large battle with the Germanians in Gladiator.

A tactical approach, like you're suggesting, is already possible via the command hotkeys.

  20. stuck parties: is there a remedy?

Yeah, King Ragnar is stuck (along with the entire Nord army) outside of Buillin. *sigh*

Contemplating starting over to fix this, as I've failed the "follow the King quest" keeping his kingdom from being overrun. We were kicking some serious Rhodok butt, and now I'm having to fend them off myself - plus, I took a castle from them, but I can't keep it because I'm not sworn to the King, but I can't even talk to the King because he's buried under a dozen parties of nobles!

Very annoying. Hoping they wake up, soon, or else I'm going to war vs my own people just to see if I can snap them out of it.
