    The Horde Lands v1.22 released!!

    Just to give some feedback: Great inovation on this mod. Well worth the download. I try to encourage all modders to go with their strengths and my opinion is that the dungeon is this mod's great feature.

    If you are going to do more work, my suggestion would be to tweak the dungeon system to make it more of a permanent quest. Or maybe copy/ break off a portion of it for a fun leveler / challenge and a portion where there is no endless respawns but a definate goal, end-boss or some unique items in the chests. Perhaps a place to rest and recover some health. I think there is many players who could spend hours crawling the dungeon with a few comrades instead of the endless siege/ wealth cycle.

    Just think about it. You have the only modern mod with a unique dungeon environment and it really is da bomb.

    The sounds folder was empty; it's not a biggie, I think most folks already have the realistic/mo metal pak or know how to add it.

    And to stay on topic: Like you said, I think the best feature is the map. It is easily the best/ most varried of all the British mod maps. Do you have any ideas for what you would like to enhance or work on within the mod for future releases?

    My informal review so I dont start a new thread thingy.

    I like it. Great effort. There :wink:

    I fixed the map, added the multiple siege ladders, added my own music mod, added the realistic sound pak, the improved map textures and scene textures ( a compilation of Graph-enhancement 2.5 & colorful) and panaromic mod.

    Love the hunting, though I feel like two meats per deer would make it more than a novelty.

    Love the map, though a simulated ship journey instead of land-bridge would be nice eyecandy, it's an afterthought.

    If you put any time into dialog, consider adding something special to Arthur...perhaps a few special quests or even a search for a unique item or two would add just that something special to make the mod more moody in line with the books and time period.

    money money money

    One exploit....er help I dont see mentioned much is CATTLE. Every village you stop at, especially later when they are prosperous; buy cattle, slaughter, and sell en-passant to the next town. Pick up any goods that are dirt cheap and sell along the way.

    Use the magelord tweak to raise the tourney bet limits some if you are having a real hard time. It does work in SoD.

    Remember that early on, it's all about time management versus money made for the week. Avoid useless quests of any sort that wont pay off with minimal hassle.

    Making your own trade runs while gathering peasants, slaying targets of oppurtunity, and winning tourneys is more profitable than almost any quest combo.

    Good posts actually, besides the face-palming, group hugging stuff.

    It IS good to see mods the compile the best of whats being developed...after all, who doesn't want super mods..but I think it is time to see some fresh concepts, maybe even things in anticipation of warband:

    1. Has anyone checked out that quiet but innovative mod, "A medieval adventure"; it was all done in scenes with no world map. great concept for a future 'co-op' multiplayer adventure/rpg type thingy.

    2. ANY alternative to the endless repitition that sieges become, like..gasp, battering rams, breakable gates, island castles, or any other siege equipment.


    Just throwing some semi-new stuff out there.

    Honestly...where is MAW when we need him, a Marnid and Borcha tale can fit any screenshot and what we need for such a contest screenie pictured just below Frodogorn is absolute comedy and nothing but comedy-parody.

    I still might give it a go if Maw doesn't... :wink:

    I love the map (on page 1).

    Perhaps learn from something morphed from other mods, make some of the features optional; moral and formations being a definate thing many folks don't want all the time.

    I didn't see it polled or suggested yet; consider adding one of the wounding systems and mutiple siege ladders.

    Expansion / Multiplayer suggestion thread

    Just pleasssseeeee, whatever else is added. JUST give us more grouping keys. The battle portion of the game will become twice as fun with just 2 or even three (but why not use all the number keys) more groups; companions, infantry-1, infantry-2, etc...

    And yes, it's been said 'afore. I just say it again 'cuz I need that more than almost anything else...oh and real formataions. :wink:

    Honestly, the companion system needs a complete OVERHAUL, and their previous backgrounds are the least of my gripes!

    The ones you want for medic, tracker etc. get themselves kille..er I mean immortally knocked out in sieges.

    You never are quite sure if they will show up as infantry or archers, and most of them are worthless as cavalry.

    Only the mods that allow you to use them as lords or parties give them much value.

    1. Give us back the separate companions grouping key. I would trade almost any other feature for more grouping keYs!
    2. Better yet, let me have the option of having them NOT join the battle and stay in camp where they friggin belong.
    3. Give an inherent boost to their level progression or make them tied to the pc's progression so I don't have to lead them by the hand killing looters.
    4. Make it optional (like many mods and tweaks) to turn off them leaving the party with 10,000 denar worth of hard-earned equipment and skills.
    5. Add companion wounding or a mandatory rest time or somefink, at least as an option...I know many of us play with our own houserules but it's just ridiculous seeing Ymira (My favorite gal) getting knocked off the ramp with arrow to the head over and over, it's downright spooky!!! This isn't return of the living dimwits!

    Merlkir, a real question so I'm not just doing the fan-boi-geek spam thing:

    Has it been suggested yet over at the real forum to incorporate sieges in some locations, for example...sieging one of the urak-hai camps or somefink?  And to go along with that, does the team have enough folks on scene-making redos?

    Just had to post....great to see some of the ol' grog-fogies posting out of the woodwork. I remember some of you when I was just a lurker and paid $6 for the buggiest game I ever loved :smile: [STay on topic mode:/on]

    - The NPCs in Zendar never moved and almost always had the same thing to say: which was a bonus, because it led to some of the greatest M&B humor-comedy to date by MAW!

    Which really needs to be revived in an epic machina series called 'Borcha and Ramun goto Newcastle' or 'Red vs. River-pirates' or somefink.

    (I would personally pay more for dat than War-band 33t!)

    Relax greenei, he was prob partly playing on yer name or somefink...TLD actually moved partly cuz all the fuss and overwelming traffic by folks who asked repetitive questions.

    It's just a good idea to check out as much info as you can on yer own before posting questions, especially for TLD.

    A bandit fight in native expansion in one of my villages. :smile: :smile:

    Somehow I had only taken a few horsemen with me as I finished the 'train the bandits' lunacy.

    I ended up on a rocky top with 40 or so angry mountain bandits trying to get at me from all sides. Lasted about an hour and I got every last one and somehow avoided the fall of the cliff thing. Just epic!!!

    You can have your WaRbt33aNd opinion all day, but anyone can make a mutliplayer hackfest with orc and worg skin-jobs(and they probably will with or without TLD)!

    I need my epic feeling back; the burial mounds with the fallen heros; rescuing my wounded comrades from the depths of an evil stronghold with only a few scouts and the stirring music of my custom LOTR soundtrack for companions. I need the sight of that last legion of Mordor falling before the combined host of Rohan and Gondor to the sounds of the silver trumpets...the scream of the Nazgul during battle as the high elf warrior drives them hither and yon...

    [LOtR geek mode off]...I'm better now, realy!

    Yeh, what he said...it looks like it has the potential to be used for re-naming a lot of things. Isn't this similiar to the code custom settlements uses (that mod allows renaming parties, towns, kingdoms, etc.)?

    I know it seems trivial, but it really is an iceing on the cake feature for a lot of folks, ok...me included :wink:

    Thanks, thats what ill do.

    And I havn't yet, so Ill say a big THANKYOU for your's and the team's time in making a mod that has taken the kingdom half of the game to a brilliant new level. The failed hastings mod was the first to seriously attempt it, then Nijis with his work on Sicily, then Bandit kingdom, and of course Native expanded and custom settlements, but SOD puts the cream on the cake with getting to have the custom faction and with some time in the troop editor, it's like a sand box, free-formers dream come true.

    My only minor complaint is that the 80 stacks of 200 new legionaires get old after beating just 20 of them, I imagine it will be more interesting when it's all bundled with the auxilia.

    I picked a castle where I could get good distance and snipe, had put everyhting into xbow and had archer faction, retreat, rinse, repeat...timed it right with the enemy reinforcements, etc. I wanted to get on with seeing the new features.

    Anyway, I do play with your debug on and all messages so i can see whats going on, after I took castle i would sit for a few days in town (they took castle back), then wander around, sit for a while, visit places, etc. When I reinstall and try again, I will get screenies or a save file for you if i encounter the same wierdness.
