Gah, I keep having this one problem.
I advance with my teamates, like normal in my new T-28 Medium Tank. Then boom, I get 1 shotted by a heavy or some other medium. 320 hp damage in one shot. This has happened to me every single match before I could even get a round shot, usually ending up with below 100 xp each round.

There are a few things to consider...though the problem with tactics and strategy is that there is never one MAJOR thing to make or break your game. It's always about doing a lot of smaller detailed things which add up and at high level competition will give you an edge.
How many Arty and TD's on the enemy team is very important.
If there is 2+ arty than you must FIRE AND MOVE or else you will we locked on very quickly and crippled. Tanks(in general) have very little armor above them and I believe(not positive) that a lot of arty men use HE shells.
As far as dealing with stealth sniper shots there are a few things I can think of off the top.
First it is important to be aware of when you are camo'd or visible. This is tough because there is no in game feature saying CAMO ON. If you suspect your cover has been blown you should move to a different position.
It does not have to be far away but you need to move a few feet and resposition so that you go camo again and the enemy will be firing on your old position. Bushes,trees, drops in elevation etc.
You can fire without revealing yourself but it requires you to be behind a bush and have another one maybe 10-15 ft ahead of you..the bush in front will hide your muzzle fire from the enemy and make it seem as if the forest is shooting at them. This is hard to test because you cant log into a 1v1 server with a friend to see when the camo shot works and when you are doing it wrong.
Taking hits straight on increase the chance of penetration. look for angles around 45 degrees with the idea that a round will hit your tank and ricochet off doing minimal or no damage at all.
if this final concept is a bit unclear imagine throwing a ball at a wall,it hits straight into it with no option but to keep going in that direction.
Now imagine the wall was sloped back so it was more like a skateboard ramp. Throw the ball and it will bounce right off.
