    Got me a Noldor Knight!!

    TheBlackMephistopheles 说:
noosers right. your infantry should really only attack at the very last moment or when the enemy has just gotten midway up your hill(i love hills) meanwhile your cavalry waits to charge the melee flank and damage the infantry while it's busy dealing with yours.

And yet if the infantry is in the back their charge is hindered by the wall of archers in the way. Further any range equipped infantry (particularly the Legionnaire line) will underperform. Several infantry units are equipped with thrown weapons, which have a short range to begin with. Assuming they could get a clear shot the limited throwing range is exacerbated by being farther back, whereas your bow wielding archers are unhindered by the extra distance and shouldn't be charging in the first place so they couldn't care less that there's a shieldwall in front of them. In fact, they like it.

I'll have to try your other tactic though, sounds interesting.

Those Fel Great Helms are my favorite.

    V2.0 Status and Backroom Report

    Calathar 说:
Also,if adversaries will be upgraded to pendorian standarts...well,it will be REALLY difficult to win such a tournament, don't ya think?

PoP 2.0 tournaments are noticably more difficult than Native. Then again, I can consistently win Native tournaments at level 1 straight out of character generation so that's not worth much, is it? I haven't tried a tournament in the latest beta iteration (real life is such a pain) but in the preceding versions (which I think have included the opponent upgrades) I've lost several rounds (though the arena master seems to like me lately) and had many touch and go moments. I will admit to playing at very low difficulty settings, and my experiences may not be representative of higher difficulties, but given the value at stake (500/round) I'd say tournaments have become much more interesting.

And I wouldn't worry about the high monetary rewards, there's always something to spend it on in Pendor. Like, multi-thousand denar hiring costs on some companions for instance.

    Got me a Noldor Knight!!

    noosers 说:
No. I want the infantry BEHIND my archers. Half the archers aren´t firing if I deploy my infantry in front of the archers - and a few of them get shot in the back too.

Hence the 'on a hill and below the line of fire' business. Though if M&B's engine is a little off it's possible they'd still get hit. I never checked on it.

    Got me a Noldor Knight!!

    noosers 说:
You dont charge forth with Noldors - you post the infantry somewhere nice and fine where they´ve got clear sight and shooting range, tell them to hold fire and wait till the enemy advances to a reasonable level, hit f5 again and watch the mass-dying. Infantry ready just behind the archers to deepend the ranks and hold up a possible cav charge and to slaughter the few remainders.

Your cav intercepts enemy cav or hide´s somewhere on a flank and waits for its glorious day. That´s working wonders, against any infantry heavy opponenet as well as troops with light cav. Heavy cav will give you some trouble but they´re usually too slow for your NNK and thus get headshotted all way long.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that pretty much standard military op for the time period? Although ideally you'd want your formation on a hill with the infantry slighty in front of the ranged attackers (and therefore lower and out of shot).

Nautically speaking, rigging is what holds the sails to the mast.

For 3d modelling it means the information used to determine the placement of a texture on the model. As far as I can tell anyway, I'm no modeller.

    Suggestions for V2.0

I like sneaking in with a quartestaff. My usual lance-based build (polearms all the way) is lightning fast with a staff and bludgeons the snot out of anything that moves. The only setback are the archers, and towns often have enough corners available that ranged attackers are still easy meat. I hang around a corner until I've take out the infantry guards and often enough they'll even leave me a handy little shield to approach the archers with.

Prophesy of Pendor V1.21- Screenshots Thread

To get an arbitrary camera angle, start the game with edit mode turned on. Then during a scene hit ctrl-F11 to pause, and ctrl-E to enter the editor. WASD keys to move the camera, left click and drag to change the camera angle. Ctrl-H turns off the HUD and the annoying editing highlights. If you play around with it some you'll figure it out.

One bug to keep note of, if you enter edit mode while in the first-person view your character will lose their head. Literally. Which would really ruin your screenshot potential.

Since I see a lot of comments about companions I thought I'd whet everyone's appetite a wee bit.
A company composed purely of companions. Yes, it's big. You can see them all if you compare troop list and the party skill list.

And a shot of my buddies coming off the line. Sorry for the staging of the shot, I was having trouble getting a good setup and didn't have enough time to devote to it.

As you can see, I've a couple horse archers on the left (I'm the dude in blue in between them), and a couple foot archers on the right. And oh shoot! I'm missing Commander Sinclair. Crud, I'll have to dig him back out of whatever hole he's drowned himself in and redo the shots.  I can't believe I missed him leaving, that's what I get for clicking so fast.

Maybe different prices for different captives sold to ransom brokers would be a good idea? Because selling a mere brigand for the same price as a knight just doesn't look fair to me

Afaik this has already been implemented in V2.0.

How about some "good" neutral NPC-parties? I mean, we already have heretics, the Snake Cult and nasty barbarians, but they are all "evil". It would be nice to have some parties roaming across the map that don't scare the player away.

Done and done. Ransoms are level based (I think, at any rate the basic Outcast isn't worth bothering to capture anymore) and settlements will spawn 'friendly' militias to help thin the herd of bandits and random nasties. I'm not clear on the algorithm used to spawn militias though, sorry. And if you aren't careful I believe you can make the militias aggressive toward you since they have their own minor faction rating.
