  1. Creating New Maps

You're very right about the scene editor. I am more just wondering how I could acquire the player-made multiplayer maps for myself as well as incorporate mine into the multiplayer game.
  2. Creating New Maps

This is a bit of an amateur question, but I put Warband away for a while and began playing again recently and noticed all the new maps. How do you create a new map? I know there is the tedious process of entering edit mode, but I was wondering if there was a faster way to do it. Also, how do you...
  3. Fire in the Sand: The Siege of Rhodokia. A Calradian Rennaissance Roleplay

Hawkeye staggered around to see the carnage wrought on the steps of his home. He had feared to see his wife's bloodied body lying crumpled on the ground, arrow protruding from her chest, but now it was her absence that tore at his consciousness even worse. If she wasn't out here, he knew she had to still be deep in that inferno that raged within his home. Knowing he could do nothing, he fell to his knees and screamed to the clouds. In that moment, he rediscovered a sensation that had not been scraped by anything in over 3 years. He felt the lust for vengeance. He wanted to rip the beating heart from the chest of that goat-****ing Khergit and slow roast it on a spit. He knew exactly what he wanted to do. He wanted to stab his hunting knife hilt-deep into the eyes of the bloodied corpse that was at Edward's feet and continue jabbing until there was naught left but a rancid jelly where a man used to be. But he was too drained to do any of that at this point, so he just screamed himself hoarse.

Three days later, Hawkeye was digging through the layer of weeds that had grown over the door of his secret cellar. He tugged hard on the door, which hadn't been opened in over a year, and finally got the heavy wooden trapdoor to fly open. He lowered himself into the hole and started throwing up bundles wrapped in oilcloths. Inside were sabres, spears, bows, mail shirts, axes and everything a mercenary needed in to perform his job adequately. Hawkeye poked his head out of the hole and looked at Edward, who was sitting cross-legged and staring at the ground vacantly. He whistled and the black-haired man slowly raised his head to look at whatever needed his attention

"Well aren't you going to open everything up?" asked Hawkeye. There was a feverish, anxious energy to his every action. The lanky red-head was the kind of man who needed to keep occupied in order to keep from breaking down completely in times of strife. Edward just stared blankly back into the eyes of his comrade and then back at the ground. Edward's baby girl had died in the fire. He hadn't spoken since the fire and barely gave any indicator as to the whether he was alive or not. While Hawkeye understood the coping mechanism, he knew that he would never be able to grasp the pain of losing one's child. Hawkeye climbed fully out of the hole to put his hand on Edward's shoulder, looking into the man's glazed, tired eyes.

    "It isn't your fault."

Edward didn't respond. Hawkeye sighed and started to unwrap the weapons. They had a long journey to prepare for.
  4. Fire in the Sand: The Siege of Rhodokia. A Calradian Rennaissance Roleplay

Yuskay walked over to his fresh kills and yanked the arrows out of them. The woman with an arrow in her belly gave a piercing scream when the black shaft was removed from her.

"Save your screams, whore." rasped Yuskay, "There's not a man who can save you."

Just as he said this, he heard an unearthly bellow as a giant black-haired man advanced with a blood-soaked knife in hand and dove for him...
  5. Fire in the Sand: The Siege of Rhodokia. A Calradian Rennaissance Roleplay

Matthias ran down, seeing his friend carrying a fresh carcass, and clapped him on the shoulder, congratulating him on his kill and helping him drag the massive creature around back so they, along with the aid of Tazigan's son, could properly skin it. They had no idea what was bearing down on their estate at full gallop.

If you ever wanted somebody killed, you talked to Yuskay Tamalgut, because the bloodthirsty Khergit loved to smell of blood on steel and the screams of whatever debtor or worthless thief he had been sent to slay. In this particular case, he had been hired by a prominent Vaegir lord to settle a matter of honor. Two mercenaries in his temporary service had absconded with his wife and daughter and his investigations had led him to a small vineyard on the west coast. He and his three henchmen rode atop dark steeds almost as heartless as their riders. They saw the hillside and the modest house atop it, looking out over seemingly endless tracts of tilled soil.

His posse arrived at a wooden gate with a signpost adjacent to it. He saw that the sign bore the insignia of an overlapping M and H, the symbol of the mercenaries he was hunting, and he gestured to his men to batter down the gate. Two stout Khergit men dismounted from their horses and battered the gate down with their battle-axes. Once all were atop their mounts again, they rode down the path with sabres held at the ready.

It had taken about an hour to properly skin and butcher such a massive deer. Edward and Matthias had left it in the smokehouse to cure and were still covered in blood when they started towards home only to see four figures dressed in black milling about in the morning mist. They were carrying what looked like clubs in their hands until Matthias noticed them lighting the clubs and tossing them onto the roof of the house, setting the wooden shingles ablaze. At the sight of this, the two men exchanged brief alarmed glances and broke into a sprint towards their now burning home. Tazigan's son attempted to follow, but Matthias rejected him promptly by saying "No. This is our matter."

Yuskay stood in front of the front door with bow in hand and an arrow knocked back onto the string. His archer companion was similarly prepared to take care of whatever came out of the door. He knew someone was inside and would notice the flames and come rushing out. And when they did, his orders were quite clear.

    Leave none alive

We are going to try and get our guys moving along into the fray, but we encourage everyone to start getting this war underway.
  7. Fire in the Sand Discussion Thread

I hate to **** in everyone's cheerios, but the more appropriate hand-held fire weapon of this time period would be something along the lines of a crude hand-cannon. So, in the interests of not making this horribly unfair, could all those with muskets or pistols and the like change their fire weapons accordingly? Gunpowder had just been discovered about a decade or so before the events in this RP. So just keep it to monstrously large cannons and inaccurate but terrifyingly loud hand-cannons, if you will.

Another reminder. It is totally ok for anyone here to make a Sarranid character and be a part of the opposition. Could be interesting.

We'd love to have both of you. I will certainly break up my bio, and I'm sure Mirathei will do the same with his intro.
  10. Fire in the Sand: The Siege of Rhodokia. A Calradian Rennaissance Roleplay

Matthias opened the door and stepped outside onto his front stoop. He gazed out from his hilltop and saw the expanse of his vineyards sprawling to the edges of the forests that went on to meet a horizon of grey clouds and the early morning haze. He stretched his back, which was prone to various aches and pains ever since he was thrown from a low roof in Praven in his adolescence. The life of an urchin had been one of constant chase and peril, with possible imprisonment or death always a hare's breath away. He felt a hand on his shoulder. It was his bride, Isonya. She was a gorgeous girl of about twenty seven, with sparkling green eyes typical of her people. Why she had ever picked a scarred ginger mercenary as a husband, he would never know, but he was certainly happy that she did. He and Isonya had been together for almost three years, had purchased a vineyard from a withered old couple in western Rhodokia, and were making a modest living alongside Matthias' constant companion, Edward, and his wife.

The winery was staffed entirely with former mercenaries who had been in the service of Edward and Matthias. With men of all colors, classes and proficiencies, they were an eclectic group to say the very least. Looking down to the toolshed, he saw a gigantic black-haired man with a plaited beard and arms as thick as tree trunks and built to cleave the heads of enemies hard at work polishing a hoe. This was Todsveld; he had been the pride and joy of Matthias' shield wall. When his massive hammer fell down in the ranks of his opponents, it was devastating. The earth itself seemed to quake as this towering bull of a man approached. Matthias kissed Isonya on the cheek as he ran down the hill to clap Todsveld on the back and greet him.

"Toad, how are you?" said Matthias, congenially. He had come to call his Vaegir workhorse Toad out of affection, and partially to prove to anyone that was listening that he was allied with this behemoth and could afford to joke with him.

"Good, my friend. I was just about to go till that final part of the field to get us ready to plant come March." He spoke in a slow, thick Vaegir accent, leaning heavily on his o's and u's and always sounding slightly inebriated. Todsveld started to amble away with his decisive, powerful gait.

"Well that's good. Give me a minute to peruse the property and I'll be right there with you." Hawkeye stretched his hands and got ready for a hard day of work in the fields. Always did prefer coating my hands in dirt to coating them in blood. thought Hawkeye before heading to the other side of the shed.

    My character...

    Name: Matthias Hawkeye
    Age: 31
    Faction(if any): Swadian
Occupation/Rank: Former mercenary captain, now a vineyard operator
Weapons: Sabre, kite shield, winged mace, two hunting knives
Armor: Mail shirt, leather boots, kettle helmet, gloves
Description: Tall, lean man with long red hair that hangs to about his shoulder. Steely blue eyes and a well-kept beard. Several scars on his arms, cheek, back and lip from his life as a mercenary. Has a brand on the underside of his forearm in the shape of an overlapping M and H from his old mercenary company.
Bio: Born in Praven to an immigrant couple from the Nordic homeland, his mother died during childbirth, leaving him to basically fend for himself. His father was a former warrior turned into a hopeless drunk after the death of his wife. Matthias was left a child of the streets, stealing from carts and shops to feed himself. Ashamed of his wine-soaked father, he never went by his family name, insisting to all who knew him that his last name was Hawkeye. He had an invaluable companion in his life as an urchin, Edward MachLauchlain, who pooled loot with him. As he grew into his adolescence, he grew lanky and tall, hindering his abilities to stealthily snatch food or goods unnoticed.

One day he signed himself up for a fight down at the arena to earn some cash to maybe buy a bite to eat. He took up a wooden sword and shield, strapped his helmet on and walked into the wood-walled enclosure. He won his first fight without breaking a sweat. He spent that entire day taking down challenger after challenger. He took home more coin than he had ever seen in his life that night. He bought Edward and himself a hearty meal at the tavern and they talked about the days events. It was no secret that Edward could fight better than any urchin in Praven. Then an idea took root. Matthias and Edward could become mercenaries. They set out as soon at age 18, after they had raised enough money to buy weapons and armor, taking a few other of their friends with them, and they sold their swords to any merchant, lord or person of wealth who needed them.

After almost a decade, the two were forced to retire from their mercenary lifestyles after eloping with the female family members of a lesser nobleman. Now he and Edward operate a winery with what remains of their crew. They have been doing so for 3 years at the time of the Sarranid invasion of Rhodokia.
  14. New Role Play Ideas?

Just a little announcement of a coming RP. Me and Mirathei have been coordinating a sort of M&B Renaissance RP.

The story is essentially the Sarranids have discovered and practically applied gunpowder to make cannons and such. They have sold their basic technology at exorbitantly high prices to their neighboring countries, but have kept their more extravagant and lethal weapons to themselves to ensure that they remain on top of the market and that their national agenda is readily backed by firepower. The central plot action will be the Sarranid invasion of the Kingdom of the Rhodoks after spies are caught in the workshops of their engineers trying to steal blueprints to the awe-inspiring Sarranid guns. Almost instantly, the Sarranid armies were mobilized. The mighty Amirs were summoned and Sultan Al-Yulai, their warmongering ruler wanted to see Rhodokia burn.

We will be posting the thread later tonight.

What I would really love to see is a proper map incorporated into this. It's a fantastic mod, no doubt, but it could be made fantastically better with the addition of a map of the places that I love to envision conquering. Just a thought

  18. Salpaetrius Rising Roleplay

Kruien's brown hair blew in the wind as he walked on silent feet through the stretch of forest that now lay between him and his goal. That goal was the gates of Veluca. He and his party of 45 archers were going to enter the city seperately disguised as troubadours and merchants. They would then wait for their comrades further east to get the attention of the armies of the Rhodok kingdom. Then their work would begin. Kruien had already put the robes of a commoner on and hidden his armor, sabre and other weapons within a rolled tapestry that he carried in a cart with him. That cart also contained the barrels filled with the one advantage that Salpaetrius had. He walked to the gates of the city. The guard hailed him.

"Halt, peasant. What business do you have in Veluca?" the stout man said, drawing his weapon. A shabby and slightly crooked short sword with several large dents in the cutting edge, the marks of battle.

Kruien spoke in a string of classical Salpaetrian. A dialect he knew the simpleton wouldnt understand.

"What is that babble you're spewing?" asked the guard, confusedly.

Kruien pointed to his cart filled with seemingly innocent items. Then he rubbed his index and middle fingers together, the universal sign for money and profit.

"Ah, a foreign merchant. Pass through then, but dont cause any trouble or you'll answer to the law." the guard said as he sheathed his sword.

It will take more than the law, my small-minded friend, to stop what I am setting in motion. Kruien chuckled to himself.
