    Anyone ever play Star Trek Honor Guard?  Good FPS that relied heavily on the melee combat form.  Unfortunately for the game, it was developed back when FPS were really only good at "shooting" and the melee left some to be desired.  Still the Bat'leth and the mupwl' (Klingon throwing knife) was fun.  Now here we are years later, and we have the perfect combat system in a FPS for melee.

    Klingons have several warrior clans.

    Klingons focus on melee.

    Klingons have civil war potential.

    Klingons have Clan-Fortresses.

    And for the fun of it, you can always throw in things like Andorian agents (bandits), Romulan infiltrators (desserters, etc).

    Again, if you are looking for existing game comparisons to better flesh out the concept... think of Star Trek, New Worlds.  We had Klingons and other species engaged in combat on a single world.

    And if you must, you can always look into using the old transportation feature designed but abandoned in the early dev of M&B to "transport" a player to another area... an area normally off-limits... like... another planet.  An interesting feature... though... not really necessary to pull it off IMHO.

    Hmmm.  Good ideas, now to figure out exactly how and what and where this is to make it work.  Anyone have something more substantial for me to go in and tinker with?

    Yes, I did.  That Mod is... asleep.  Plan to resurect it, but I'm not going to go public with it, till it is about to be released... too much... whining.

    I would like to re-iterate the strong workable environment that a Star Trek mod would make.

    More specifically... anyone ever play Klingon Honor Guard?  Good game for its time.  The idea of remaking a Klingon Honor Guard mod for M&B is extremely workable.  With the Klingons emphasizing hand-2-hand combat and their being a distinc clan conflict abounding... it works VERY WELL.

    You could practically redo "the look" of the game, and bingo, you have a ST Klingon game.

    Improving on that...

    Clans could fight on a single planet, moon, Kronos, whatever... and the "ship travel" feature concept from the old days would work in creating transportation to different regions, planets, whatever.

    Interesting... and very workable.

    Greetings M&B'ers.  Love this place, love the game. Okay, on to the actual question. Obviously we can limit the size of the battles, a very simple matter of limiting the # of troops on the battlefield at once... 25-100 (un-modded). But, how, as a modder / serious gamer, can we limit the size...

    Honestly, I kind of like the highlights as they are, kind of reflects a 'worn' metal look, whichtends to look either red-orange, or gray.

    Blue-like highlights might be nice in a blue sky environment, but what about all the other times?  And let's not forget those great red and orange western skies  :lol:

    Can everyone please, please read before you post.  Seriously... has it been mentioned 10 times already that we do not have a release date yet, and not to ask.  Even if you only skimmed this thread you would see that.

    I have been dying, and I mean dying to have this released.  I click the "Show new replies to your posts." every single day just to see if the release date has been announced yet, so I can download it.  But I'm not going to disrespect the author who has repeatedly asked us not to ask.

    I don't have new screenshots ready yet, recallibrating what I got, and recovering my losses from my computer crash (grumble).This is NOT dead, its merely lost some ground and is competing with my career and family life.

    If you have art to contribute... please, feel free to contribute.  This mod WILL reach completion, when it is ready.  Soon as I am more comfortable with its status, and nearing release, I will start a thread specifically for it, by its name with a list of finalized realised features. 

    There are a lot of good mods out there, some still under development... good ones take time, and I believe this will be a good one.

    Hardcore accuracy also calls for greek vs greek combat all the way. It gets boring after a while, even with the scythians and thracians around (because of some similar pieces of equipment, lack of weapon diversity etc). Another serious issue I'm facing is the map. There's so much ocean to cover and such a small fraction of it to walk around, I can't rescale and use a huge map with enough land (and an even larger ocean) because M&B's engine doesn't support it.

    What I'm thinking is about releasing the alpha as a faction replacement like I said, then going from there. Everything's basically done anyway, from here on it will be porting scripts (and probably the map), some sceneing and that's it.

    Sounds like a good plan to me.
