  1. Invasion force too strong?

I haven't downloaded yet (waiting on bugfix), but I am eagerly awaiting a challenge. Don't listen to the 'impossible' nay-sayers, I too miss 'impossible games'... and am eagerly awaiting some heroic, epic last stands.
  2. changes to ironflesh and couched polearms

At a certain point, if you have enough skill to wield and *land* the couched lance - there isn't much that wouldn't (I should think) bit one-hitted.
500+ damage? As an abstract measurement for a massive speartipped pole being driven at full gallop with the mass of an armored man behind it?
    Ya'Rly...

Leave the fine-tuning of damage numbers to RCM (e.g. relative to a two-handed blow from a great axe, doesn't lance damage seem excessive?)<- I agree we should have a stepped, strength based requirements for the lances.
  3. Smoother Fighting

That is the dumbest and least historical thing I've heard today, and indeed in the last few weeks. Most people on the battlefield had a shield or just moved out of the way or never even got that close without engaging in a few thrusts himself.
Come on now, you *know* if jar-jar-binks was a jedi wielding a katana fighting a bunch of his (katana armed) clones that's how the fighting would go.
    *clash*
    *cling*

(better make that dual-wielding Uberzor! katana-chucks
  4. Add Marriage and having kids

U Sick loser i never said anythign about quests and i said only blacked out wiht ur wife not any random person read b4 u post u moron.
    I did read.
... and then I had to hire three different professors skilled in gibberish to help me translate.
(then I choose the top three most ludicrous results for some ridicule)

and i said only blacked out wiht ur wife not any random person
Yeah... "Only blacked out with wife" but "not [with] any random person"... tisk, you dastardly knave.

  6. Smoother Fighting

As u all know the fighting in mount and blade is very dumb i like the concept but it could be improved by this scenario
:Original M&B=  two ppl are about to strike they strike and they both hit each other when it should the two sords clash my second last post for today
    Go make your mod.

*extols moderators to delete this thread
  7. Add a bigger map and new factions

I can do this ? Awesome fine ill make one it shall be called Calradia-Extended edition
I wish you the best of luck.
  8. Add Marriage and having kids

Okay fine black out screens but as i said u could only get blacked out wiht ur wife not some random ugly peasant knave from a battle
There are a number of ways I can interpret that.

#1 - the screen would only be blacked out while your 'gettin it on' with "wifey"... but not when that ugly peasant knave decides to have some fun after knocking you off your horse

#2 - Black out screens as a quest - you must do "wifey", be done by ugly peasant knave, and then you will get the computer codes to hack into skynet and black out the screen.

#3 - You want horse pr0n, ugly knave-pr0n, and wifey pr0n... but you want to watch it with the sceen blacked over.

    ...............

A similar (read, completly different save the marriage bit) idea has already been proposed.
<edit: "I" changed to "you" in case you fail to recognize the narrative voice.
  9. Add a bigger map and new factions

Dude thats not cool and of the rules u cant insult ppl or use vulgar expressions but this wud actually be a good idea cuz im gettung tired of the same 5 factions all the time
    I WANT VARIETY
This whole thread is an insult and a vulgar diatribe.
If you want it, you can actually make it. The tools are there.
  10. Add a bigger map and new factions

    Make a mod.
It can involve marrying your horse, getting it on with horesy, and then leading your new-born colt into the far reaches of the internetz.

... seriously, this is something you can do, that doesn't require new coding on the part of the developers.

  11. Add Marriage and having kids

and i dun think the woman after battle would get ****** becuz theyre dead
That's why you use blunt weapons against those female peasants...

and i just said u cna only interact with ur wife no gettting it on cuz i remembered this is a 12+ game and i want it to be that way
You suggested blacked out screens actually. I personally call that "power saving mode" or "hibernation" mode, and it's found in my start menu.
  12. Add Marriage and having kids

u dould get it on wiht wifey but be blacked out screens like in fable.

Someone needs to go back to their horse-pr0n stash & mount their blade.

Can we introduce the clap to?
  13. Agility

Saw something in another thread, that usually comes up when the gender issue gets raised. Just how important would 'agility' at the expense of say, strength and size be in historical medieval combat? I appreciate the advantage of speed and agility in an unarmed, unarmored fight... but reality...
  14. My friends reaction to Mount and Blade...

I remember downloading the demo sometime last year. I played for about five minutes, uninstallered.
Reinstalled a week later... and the addiction was born.
  15. Too many female companions

If you are still obsessed with your preconceived notions of absolute gender inequality, just equip your female companions in dresses and sun bonnets and have them hold position near the baggage, where you can tell yourself they are making PB&Js for the rest of your troops.
I think the issue is - One poster finds problems with the number of female companions (I think the number is fine).
However, rather than debate the poster with logic such as "Their back stories explain them, they, like all the companions & PC are exceptional and not typical" - most posters immediately responded with PC statements, calling on sexism & claiming gender equality on the medieval battlefield, something I really object to.

I'm merely debating those who make the farcical claim that women would fair just as well as men in medieval war.
    Amen.
There are always exceptions to the rule, and in a computer game this can take the form of female NPC's/what have you.
But at the end of the day, if you can find an exceptional woman, you can also find an exceptional man... and if the general melee abilities are lower (as every bit of data i've ever read, and all of my personal experience will atest) in hand to hand combat for women - then your still left with the man on top.

An example - browse a bodybuilding site such as (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/index.html)... there are a couple women on there who can outbench me.
They are the exceptions you speak of. But then look at the men, the male exceptions... and the basic differences in physiology come clean. Especially if you look over lifting records by gender.

    -------------

If you walk out onto the street, and start comparing every woman you see next to the nearest man... on a purely physical comparison, accounting for age & etc. you are not going to see anything close to gender parity.

    -------------

I like the current number of female NPC's. I'm find with Peasant women to. & hey, it's a computer game, I can even tolerate sword sisters.
I do not want to see 1:1 gender ratios of soldiers.
  16. Reducing low level combatants

Might be fun if the full game has a limit on the number of people in the land. Eventually there is no enemy Smile
    ... I hope your not serious  :???:
You always have to give the gamer the option to just keep killing, and killing, and going, and going.
'Cause when there's nothing left to kill, and no place left to go... the games over.

And I for one, don't want my M&B experience to end like so many other games - you know, you've beaten the game six times, and now your seeing if you can't ration and kill the only sixty dark knights on the map with a throwing axe to the groin, or some other silly  challeng - you find yourself with nothing to do, and keep trying to make things to do, until you decide that as nice as trying to see what the highest amount of damage you can inflict on your horse by jumping off a cliff is, there is game X where somebody else's challenges are waiting for you.

To be sure, all games eventually get weary - but that doesn't mean you should prematurely cap their lifespan.
I don't care if it means those swandians have to start breeding like rabbits, but I want fodder.
  17. Gore and Dismemberment - removeable limbs

Reminds me of how MechWarrior 3 did the damage; not nearly as graphics intensive as the modern games, still looked great.
  18. DIE SEA RAIDERS!!!

Get that man an axe
  19. What are you ?

Two-handed axes! Change the poll, man, do you have any idea how many people here are axemen?
Indeed, this defiantly needs a axeman option.

I start with a hatchet, move to a heavy-fighting axe/shield, and end up with whatever 2 handed monstrosity is the biggest and meanest in whatever mod/native game I'm playing. Throwing axes pack the ranged punch.
  20. Cheesy Cavalry Attack

But the fact remains that the force of a horse is more than suficient to push you over, just look at people practising rugby (probably the same for american football) when they have those foam shields and people shoulder barge them. Half the time the holder of the shield ends up on the floor.
In both the rugby and football example, the person behind the pad is trying to 'take' the hit - trying to do the exact opposite of what a person behind a shield would want to do. The guy behind the pad is trying to get maximum contact and maximum direct impact - because it does the person being trained no good if he's just running around like a bull after a matadors cape.

In karate for example, if you train your kicks with pads - the person holding the pad should try and keep it steady and simulate the resistance your foot would face hitting someones torso. If they yank the pad away before contact, or strike your foot from the side deflecting it, you'll probably find yourself off-balance, over-extended and looking to get hit - which is the exact opposite of what the pad-trainer wants to achieve, and exactly what someone with a shield (or any blocking weapon) would like to achieve.

    --------------

    <selfedit>
Just to be clear, I do agree - you get hit by a horse in anything other than a very glancing manner and your going down.
