    This mod has a lot of potential for MP I think. The look, theme, and fighting style would lend it well to a duel server especially. I rebalanced the weapons already myself for that purpose but just against the AI for now. Still, it works pretty well and is quite fun.

    Sorry I took so long to answer this but I've been working on another mod.

    If you're still here, or anyone else, the first quest is busted yes. I thought I stated this but perhaps I forgot to mention it. As of the last time I played it though all the other quests I tried worked fine.

    There's a tool out there that converts troops.txt and parties.txt info back into rough python code, but I haven't really used it myself. That might work. Try these?:

    You'd then have to sort out the code yourself though, not a small amount of work I'd think.

    BFT2 should work fine with the latest patch. Why don't you just use Morgh's M&B Mod Tools to edit it, if you're only interested in changing the troop types?

    So, I logged onto one server a while back, and all the troops were different regarding equpiment and stats and the like, however I had downloaded no mod. In other words, it was native compatible. I tried hosting a mod with my own alterations to a mod thinking the host's files would be used but...
  6. What's the ideological basis for the factions?

    Medieval warfare wasn't really ideological, it was rather integral to their political and economic systems. Propaganda wasn't really necessary either, the people having no real say anyway. Ultimately, people made war because, in the case of the rich, they wanted more land and wealth, in the case of the ambitious, because they wanted opportunities for loot, pillage and adventure, and for the poor because they were forced into it. In many ways, not all that different from today really, but they were more stark and honest about it. If there was an "ideological" tinge it might be over something like religious differences but they wouldn't map onto modern ideas of morality very well and that was usually just a flimsy justification anyway. It's better if you don't think about present-day rhetoric like armed combat being over freedom or bringing people democracy and just think of it like ant or bee colonies fighting over space. There really doesn't need to be any philosophy going on there.

    What you're concerned about, how well a serf would have been treated, was up to individual lords, or just the passing mood of a lord, and not really by kingdoms. So, the only thing you can do is be a good lord yourself, regardless of faction, and try to become king and perhaps only promote honorable lords and then eventually take over the map. Of course, the latter part means even more war and fighting than there'd normally be.

    Is there anyway to use the ramps in the map editor, specifically ramp_14m, etc. as siege ladders, where you can have them moved by simply using entry points and without requiring special scripting?

  9. Hosting a Dedicated Server Guide

    I tried hosting a dedicated server for my mod and when my character spawned he was without any gear except for armor. Turning off enforce minimum armor has them spawn naked (although the bots work fine). Hosting without using a dedicated server, but just from the in-game host menu, doesn't have this problem though for some reason (armor and gear is equipped), so I'm pretty stumped here.

    90 ping is not that high at all. Try playing around 150 against people with 50 or below and then come back and tell me it's worth it to try to chamber them.

    Regarding chambering, in my opinion it isn't worth the attempt to try to chamber someone whose ping is significantly better than yours, with two exceptions. The first, being overhead spamming greathammer/morningstar users, and the second being awl-pike type polearms that can only thrust and overhead attack. In both cases, you only need to chamber with an up block, because in the case of the latter you can block both thrusts and overheads with an overhead.

    Yeah, I don't remember if I made it available to merchants or not. It's very easy to do though, just grab an item editor (Morgh's M&B Warband Mod Tools for instance) and tick the merchandise box in the column for properties under the light mail and plate entry.

    Bots kind of suck with pikes because bots simply attack by spamming. Hence, they don't really time things right to take advantage of reach. Giving them halberds keeps the feel in my opinion (many soldiers in medieval german statelets, like Switzerland, used halberds and other polearms alongside pikes) and makes them more effective. There are still mercenary pikemen in my mod though if you really want dedicated pikemen.

    Their wasn't enough high-quality armor of a green color to use green. It was either switch over to the color I'm using now, have them all wearing different colors, or have them use much weaker armor then everyone else. Shouldn't be hard to rexture the armor they have to green though for someone who knows how and wants to do that.

    I had to go into windows personalize and set my text back to normal size I think. Having it set to larger (150%) pushes text off the window, IIRC.

    Well, regarding Rhodoks with awlpikes, I gave all shorter spears an overhand attack with a shield in addition to the normal thrusting attack. Still, it suffers from the same polearm problem (i.e. being too close nulls attacks) and the damage is rather minimal. So, they aren't too great but they can still do what pikemen in the middle ages were meant to do, and that's hold off horses. Although that requires a human player commanding them mostly. For AI they are only really a threat with their throwing spears, which is why I gave them such so they weren't stuck with pikes only.

    As for mercs performing a unique role, mine are basically for taking captives as they all have blunt weapons. For instance, the merc crossbowmen have, instead of sword and shield backup like other xbowmen, a sledgehammer, the merc infantry carries a mace, the light lancers also carry a mace for backup, etc. Mercs rounding up captives to ransom or sell into slavery made more sense to me I guess and if you're playing a merc/brigand/freelance/etc. and want to use merc armies you probably need the money from selling/ransoming prisoners more.
