    Hmm, what about taking the margin of victory into account? A 60-on-60 battle where the player only loses 5% of his men would be renown worthy indeed, but what kind of a reputation would a leader who constantly gets pyrrhic victories have?

    And what of causing your opponents victory to be a pyrrhic one? Like if you had...say...300 Nords up against 15,000 Swadians and you managed to take out a few thousand Swadians before falling, is that not renown worthy?

    Hired Blades seem to have new equipment, or at least new armor. I saw one in a tavern wearing a byrnie haubergeon.

    Travelers can now tell you the locations of all the companions.

    Mercenary horsemen can now upgrade to mercenary cavalry, as intended.

    I believe that you have to have a negative relation to the faction before you can siege their castles; pick a fight with a lord first.

    Or not.  Hmmm - what, exactly, is your problem?  Should defeat have no penalty at all?  What a fun game.  If you want it like that, then just enable all cheats and stop losing.  But don't whine that there are fictitious repercussions for losing a battle, which are 100% reversible (fairly easily), because it makes you look like a pansy.

    Is it too unrealistic to imagine that the enemy might look at the only other guys in highest grade armor and weaponry hanging out with the leader and surmise that they may have some value?

    Don't get me wrong, there should be repercussions for losing a battle, but having every other hero have a 100% escape rate and having to hunt them down again is just tedious. A better system would probably include letting them be captured prisoner as well, and when you escape you have a small chance of rescuing one of them as well, while having to rescue the rest through battle (or even other means). The idea of having to rescue Jeremus and Ymira from the clutches of the dastardly Lord Plais sounds fun.

    It would be nice to have a professional tree of units designed to take prisoners as opposed to killing everything.

    Think there's any niche area between being strong enough to take on sea raiders and too weak to take on the kingdom armies (by themselves, at least)?

    I'm getting the same crash as raducul. Once the escort caravan goes into the destination city, I get an error screen. I can hit ignore and continue playing, but a bug's a bug. It's already been reported though, so it should be taken care of next release...hopefully.

    Anyway, I like many of the changes I've seen so far, though I'm not a huge fan of the nerfing of the INT skills it certainly isn't a game-breaker.

    Argung with myself...

    The game isn't "ruined" as long as you're having fun. That's the point of gaming in the first place. I'd consider rearranging starting stats a good way to play the character you wish to play rather than being pigeonholed into what the background quiz gives you.

    Something about this sentence isn't computing for some reason. Do you mean that all three trees have similar builds (which I admit that they do), or that the trees themselves haven't been altered enough?

    I mean, wheres the variety?
    If every troop tree had archers, cavalry, heavy and light infantry, the only difference betwin them will be the armor and weapons they use (how the look).

    This is a major reason why I haven't touched the Native trees. As well, I really don't plan to do so in the near future.

    But to be fair, the female mercenary tree is meant to be nothing more than an alternative to the male one. I don't have any immediate plans to make anything more out of it.

    As for the Knightriders, I can't really defend that they have a troop for every role, primarily because I want them to be pretty powerful. I do agree that I should make some changes to them. Many actually, since I've already started to construct their story arc (on paper, not in game).

    Could you please cut off some branches so that the dark knights could actually be a group of knights instead of the army of darkness that has more kinds of troops then every other faction on the map.

    However, they are an army (not necessarily one 'of darkness', though).
    Rather than cutting out troops entirely, I'll probably make some troops the type that cannot be obtained through upgrading, like the Knightriders of Doom.

    6.)personal armorers, weaponsmith, and horse breeders that can be comissioned to make high quality stuff, or something to your specifications, so long as it has a good modifier. i would love a watered steel long sword. I'm not a master coder

    Neither am I, but I think I could do most of that. It'd be a large amount of work, but it shouldn't be too difficult.

    The ailment question is almost exclusively just to add an optional handicap to the game.
    Of particular note is the 'chronic headache' ailment. It starts a daily trigger which reduces intelligence, charisma, and skills for up to 24 hours.​

    I screwed up with the troop trees and made it so that one can't get more actual Knightriders, so I'm going to fix that and make a small release today (after I'm done adding a new personality quiz question concerning disease).

    Hey now, I just said I've implemented them, not that they are anywhere near completion.
    As for the gratuitous killing, don't forget that they are a death cult.

    Anyway, I plan on making it possible for the player to permanently get rid of them... by convincing Akron to leave. I doubt I'll implement the 'kill them all' route.
    And I have definite plans for the Knightrider background that could change the entire face of Calradia depending on how the player reacts with his/her fellow Knightriders.

    And before anyone asks, there is not going to be a 'generic' light faction to counter the Knightriders. Unless you as the player consider yourself part of that faction.  :roll:

    You've never been a fighter. In fact, you've never seen battle in your life! But there is one thing you know how to do: bake damn good bread. In fact, your bread is so good that it shames every other bread on the market! The process in making your quality bread is very slow and meticulous, taking up to a week to make one batch. You have decided to take your business on the road, taking a portable oven with you. With the war, you must now decide whether to attempt to stay neutral and provide your bread to all, or whether to pick a side and deprive others of your wheat-based ambrosia.
    Not being a warrior, you obviously have no combat or survival experience. However, you do have some trading skill, and have enough money to hire some bodyguards. As long as you have flour, you should be able to make bread once a week.
    Results: If you possess flour at the time the trigger activates (once a week), it will automatically be made into Quality Bread! On the downside, you have poor equipment and mediocre stats.

    I've actually changed the Dark Knight faction to the Knightrider faction, and have implemented them into the game. They have their own troop tree, a leader unit (a non-recruitable hero), and hatred toward everyone who is not a Knightrider. I'm almost finished implementing them.

    Edit: In other news, I've gotten most of Ymira's dialog finished and Tragedian expanded Marnid's dialog by quite a bit. After making a few more backgrounds and maybe some playtesting I'll have another release out tomorrow.

    You could even add an appeal for peace option that works with a random dice roll! Oh, I'm all brainstormy and stuff tonight!  :grin:
