NE Warband - report bugs here

The Rally Troops, Call Reinforcements, and Moral check keys dont seem to to work for me.  I'll fiddle with it a bit and see what I can come up with.

Also, is the Warhammer supposed to look like a two-handed pole hammer, but have the range of a one handed mace?  Seems a bit odd to me.

    Otherwise, great job all around!

ITS VERY SIMPLE! Open CharExport folder. Then find thing ''Compability files'' Click it. Then you see your all exported characters. Go to Technical Support , And find ''How to export character on Vista''. Its my topic and i explained all how to do it.

    Cheers mate!

    Import/export

I added one to try and see if it would import.  the exported fuile does not show up despite saying that it was successful.  It claims the import was successful, yet it does not take on the imported stats.

    Uhhun Castle crash

Uhhun crashes right after I take it.

Side note, tulbuk castle (the one along the maps edge above halmar) throws a map error when clearing out the keep of final fighters.  Instead, you fight in a small open field.  Not a big problem, but something that you might want to clean up for the final.

What do you do after you're done a rebelion?

My rebel character broke the game. I'm getting all kinds of crazy bugs. A mapping error causes a dagger texture to pop up before me whenever my character tries to sleep, any requests to win a lady's favor are met with crazy ranting about "damn bloodspots," and the trees of Praven Wood stood up and are marching on Dhirim.

The worst was my character's broken "TODO, or not TODO" speech. I think he's confused.

    nice reference

ive captured a noble, now what?

well, it seems that you should be able to put them in prisons (although I know at this point you cant).  If you talk to the prison guard in a city/castle, there is the option to talk to a prisoner.  Perhaps in later development this will be worked out.

    In-Game Heraldry Support

    Syke 说:
...elevated to a status deserving of symbology...

To quote Willem Dafoe, "I believe the word you were looking for was symbolism."

Boondock Saints quotes aside, a system to make heraldry could be quite easy if you don't try to make every single texture.  Instead, you make a certain number of fields (one for each field type) each more or less blank with say two  color regions that for this instance will be labeled color x and color y.  Instead of trying to make every color combination, just allow the player to insert the color code into a text box for each color choice.  So, the same texture could support a plethora of designs.  Also, in an attempt to get past making the ordinaires, beasts and charges built in, have say 2-3 layers including the base field.  This way, things wont get too complicated.  Each charge and beast would also have say 2 color choices (inside and border or however eogan feels would be most historically correct).

This sort of thing has been used in java by companies such as STX, Warrior, Nike, and many others to quickly do customizable color schemes on equipment.  Yes, I know this game isnt java, but there should be some sort of way to make this sort of thing possible in game.

For those of yous thinking "ok, thats great, but how is this sort of junk going to get saved and sorted out," the heraldry could be saved in your export file much like the face key is.  So, you have this long garbled list of letters and numbers which roughly resembles a leet speak mnemonic (b215x110yd015x256yg130 for example) in which each position and letter/number has an assignment.  Now, the "code" i supplied above is just something I threw out there for simplicity sake, but it could be read as "field=b with color x=215 and y=110, ordinairy=d with color x=015 and y=256, charge=g with color x =130."  Now, I'm no programmer (nor do I play one on tv), but this sort of thing was fairly easy to do using java back when I was in high school.  There are a lot of other ways this sort of thing could be build, but this is jsut an example.

A thought just occurred to me that you might be able to use the same system used for the face construction as this.  Instead, assign colors, charges, fields and such spots along the continuums (sliders).  Im not sure how well this would work with the fields and such, but it should work decently with colors.  Anyway, just a thought.

No matter how it's done, I think some sort of custom heraldry should be possible within the game so that it isn't just those of us with photoshop and such who get to have the spinky heraldry.

    Why don't...

    Swadius 说:
Wasn't dye at those times relatively expensive for the levyman?

quite right.  However, for your average professional soldier such as a man-at-arms, a simple tunic in colors other than purple and gold wouldnt be all that bad. One might think that a lord would supply his personal professional retinue with a tunic of a certain design, but then again thats modern bias on my part.  Personally I am willing to look past it for tier 3 soldiers (swadian footmen or the equivalent) and higher as they would be more permanent fighters than say the temporary forces of peasants and such.

Oh, and just a clarification; when I said simple design earlier, I was talking about something like this:
    http://ourworld.cs.com/rickajrs/id231.htm
Just ignore the fancy pants and dull the colors out so they arent so vibrant.  I guess the next question would be whether a faction would have a color set or each lord would...

    Confirmation of Faction Defeat

    Johnathan Andrews 说:
Out of curiosity, how long did it take you fellows to eliminate (or virtually eliminate) a faction?  I know you can only estimate real time spent, but I'm more curious about the actual game date.

I knocked out the Rhodoks in about 50 game days.  Im still waiting for the king to declare war on another nation.  Ill let you know how long others take when i get to em.

On a side note, I think that the need to knock out the farmers to defeat a faction is....well, lame.  Armies are one thing, but knocking out every damn traveling villager is slightly ridiculous.

you should go to Ragnarok some time, the Romans (especially Dominus) will show you how its done.
  17. Kebnov

    Why don't...

    Vilhjalmr 说:

...not to be an *******, but romans would put the nail jsut above the wrist.  The bone structure of the hand would not support the weight of the body (ie: your hand would be torn in half over time by the shear weight of your own body...or you would simply slip your hand off the nail) whereas jsut above the wrist where the ulna and the radius come together will support the weight.

Anyway, on a historical note, kaeldragor is absolutely correct.  Most armies of that time period would be rather rag-tag.  However, how much would it cost for the lazy bastards to at least pick a color and make a bunch of cheap ass tabbards of that?  I would agree that having your men wear some sort of color or uniformed representation would be a nice touch, however utterly unrealistic it would be. Yet, I must say from a heraldric stand point that they would most definitly not wear the exact same thing as their lord as it would ruin the point of heraldry.  So, with that in mind, a simple tabbard/sir coat-type-thingy with a simple pattern, like say quartered, in two colors would go a long way to add a bit of a united feel I think. I can think of a few systems to make this possible in game, but I'm pretty sure that they would take too much time to do and would generally not be worth it.

    OMG Speed bonus 14364%

    LighthouseGuard 说:
Just speaking as a minor geek, from our current understanding of physics, moving at a speed that is faster than light is quite impossible, and we're not just going to Mars if we can do that. Literal immortality might be possible.

I think the weird speed bonus only happens when you're on foot. Never saw it when mounted.

as another geek, immortality would be relative to those not moving at sub-light speed.  the person moving at that speed would perceive a normal life span.  In essence, its a one-way time travel, not immortality.
