  1. Recruiting from Castles

    That solved it, ty sir.
  2. Recruiting from Castles

When I select recruit troops at any of my factions castles it goes to a menu where the only option is "go back". I cannot recruit any of the good cavalry! Do I have a bad install going?

  4. B Tutorial 2D Banner Making Tutorial

    Cool... thanks pal!

I am now addicted to making new banners.
  5. B Tutorial 2D Banner Making Tutorial

So... the color is changed by manipulating hex data? Is there a relatively easy way to change it?
  6. B Tutorial 2D Banner Making Tutorial

Sorry to revive old news, but I found this tutorial quite helpful...

Just a quick question regarding custom banners on heraldic armors.  How does one select what the color will be on the backside of the armor?  The front side obviously reflects the desired banner, but it seems I have no control over the back side color of the armor.
  7. A Song of Ice and Fire Mod 0.3 for M&B 0.903

    REVIVE THIS PLZ!
  8. R3K type Mod?

    Witty.
  9. R3K type Mod?

Is anyone working on a historical Chinese mod, a la Romance of the 3 kingdoms?  I'd pay for the R3K expansion pack to M&B.
  10. Native OSP 3D Art Unique Armoury 1.1 (Litchina)

Um totally...  I wish there were 20 versions of each weapon and/or piece of armour... Not to mention horses... *dreams on*
Man, I've been playing this game for years now.  It's always going to be in my library.

Anyway, is anyone working on a historical Chinese mod, a la Romance of the 3 kingdoms?  I'd pay for the R3K expansion pack to M&B.

  12. Schattenländer - v0.1d released (Feb 10/07)

I am really excited about this...  diddn't think anything would actually happen when I first posted.  Glad to know others have the vision for the perfect marraige of two great games.
  13. Started playing Darklands again...

I'd cast my vote for #1.  As an avid reader, I can let my imagination do the describing for me far better than an actual 3d represention, as long as written descriptions are well done for a 100% menu driven city experience.  Is a totally menu driven town system possible in M&B?  Gameplay can be enhanced IMHO doing it this way, even though "eye candy" will suffer.  BUT, it's in the battles where I personally like the good visuals, not spending crucial minutes tromping around walls/buildings in the towns.  Even before this discussion started I craved a totally menu driven town option, because I hate the running around town stuff of games nowadays.  A BIG reason I love DL's to this day.  It's better to feel like your involved in good gameplay than to sacrifice content for visuals.  Even in Oblivion, I couldn't get away from the feeling I was in a MMORPG, even though it's a beautiful game.  Just a personal preference.  If it's not even possible in M&B, just ignore this whole little speech!
  14. Started playing Darklands again...

I really like the name, actually.
  15. Started playing Darklands again...

I am an active supporter of you more talented folks...  I really need to get into the guts of mod making, but I have 0 skill in it at this point.  I'm soooper busy in RL, as are others here, but I'll contribute if I can.  Im gonna mess around with modeling, and check out the map maker when I get some free time.  Moral support is my #1 function right now.
  16. Started playing Darklands again...

Im willing to wait on load times to have a bigger, better-feeling map.  I loved that the travelable area in DL's was so huge.

A small party of all npc's sounds like the way to go to me as well.  Random encounters can then be quite varied in my opinion (from very small group of pilgrims to the rare large band of bandits)  to refelct realism.  Large bands DID travel around, and smaller parties DID have to run/bribe/talk their way out of trouble sometimes.

I love the text menu, choose-your-own-adventure feel of DL's... could it be possible with M&B to have menu driven occurences/events that affect your party that do not necessarily involve combat?

Last thought for now...  Could each and every city be it's own faction and your reputation in a particular city not harm/help your relationship with the others?  Or would the land need to be divided into provinces or somehting?

  17. Started playing Darklands again...

A map about the size of m3 should cover it all.  If cities could be made 100% menu driven, would that cut load times and such?

Another question...  Could all roving bands of NPC's on the map be given generic names like "large group of horseman", or "caravan", or "small party" and then the actual description of the party only be given when you make contact?
  18. Started playing Darklands again...

What about making the map somewhat smaller, putting the larger towns in, and maybe manipulate the travelling speeds.  Could party speeds be drastically lowered but kept proportional to those now?  I don't understand anything about the manipulating of the game engine, so this may be an impossibility...
  19. Started playing Darklands again...

I would try to contribute as well... I stress the word TRY.  I have never done any scripting, modeling, or anything like that.  I might mess around with that modeling tutorial I just saw though, just to try and help.

    To make things simpler...

Since it's been brought up that alchemy and divine stuff are the most difficult to implement, I think that a M&B mod that has everything Darklands does, EXCEPT the alchemy and priestly stuff, would still be great.  It would not be as good, but it would still be great.  Would that make the process substantially easier, or would the time it saved not be worth it's lack?
  20. Started playing Darklands again...

That actually sounds excellent.  I read a little about your mod, and the earlier times in middle earth is a cool setting.  Hope the mod turns out as you envision!
