The first seventy-seven pages of Terry Pratchett's forthcoming Unseen Academicals - the newest book in his Discworld series - are now available on harpercollins.com. In UA Mustrum Ridcully, the Archchancellor of Unseen University, decides to set up a football team - which is, I'm guessing, not a very good idea...

The book is being released on October 1st.

I've said on the MR forums that it would be fine if you want to tell the story of the beetle that was disturbed by the fighting, so we're going to be lenient. We did say inspired, after all.

Are you saying that there is something that is more closely tied to M&B than combat (violence)? Also, the story is to be inspired by the screenshot, not a description of what is happening in it. There is a lot of leeway in that.

I agree the prize should be mount and blade related, but it's something everybody here has, and only needs one of.

I don't see how it could be M&B related without it being a copy of the game. There is no Mount & Blade merchandise, as far as I know, and Warband is not out yet. And if it was you would be saying that you already own it, and so do most of the people on this forum, so why would anyone need it (and that it is a silly prize).

So in effect, you're asking people to do lots of work in too tight a timescale for a prize they already have.

I am not asking anyone to do anything. Anyone is free to enter the competition. They are also free to not enter it. They will only do as much work as they wish, because they – I assume – want the prize. Whether that is for themselves or a friend is entirely up to them.

Personally, I am not sure why you're taking what is intended to be a fun competition so seriously.

I have to agree that it's silly to award a CD key for a game I own (I actually own two of). A new graphics card would be MUCH better.
