    I find that, especially in sieges, shorter weapons like one handed war axes are brutally effective in close quarters combat. the short range, high damage and bonus vs shields allow you to mow down enemies like a mad man  :twisted: the overhead swing is what you want to do btw. sideswings are more useful if you use longer weapons though, since you can't get much speed with overhead swings with a long weapon if the opponent is right in your face.

    I got ambushed in a village once by 6 bandits, and I just shopped them all down with my axe before they could even react. good times!

    How to reinstall Warband without losing char info

    I got my game to start working properly  yesterday by deleting the RGL file in the savegames folder (to be on the safe side, copy it to somewhere else first). all you need to do after that is reconfigure any changes you did in options, like screen res etc. worked for me, so I hope it will work for you guys too (asuming we had the same problem).

    ooh I like the 2nd idea too, especially having the attacking team a more bandit themed faction (with the weapons and armor the sp bandits use). so basically defend the king and protect the princess  :grin:

    overhead chops, if you meant my 4 hits to kill. and he was wearing standard (low cost) equipment and no helmet. and yes I have no idea what attack does the most damage with a sword atm xD

    Bugs, Glitches, and Problems: Reports and Statuses (Updated: 11/11)

    I met a player yesterday who seemed to have found a glitch that enabled him to turn 180 degrees in an instant (literally!) and toss his javelin straight at whoever was chasing him. he was also twitching back and forth like a madman on speed when engaged in melee which gave him a pretty steady advantage. dunno if I should report his name, don't know if it really matters since he can just change it but:
    his name at the time was Eric_the_unready
    and we met him on the US server with bots. I have a friend who can confirm this btw.

    [Bug] Random Disconnect

    I had random disconnects like craaaazy on the EU 2 server yesterday, then I went on the US-with bots and it worked fine. so uh. try different servers. also at the start yesterday I lost connection even before I could choose a faction, what I did was that I switched from Internet games to LAN and pressed search, and then back to Internet and searched again/refreshed a couple of times and then it worked better. don't know if that'll help you but it worked for me. (I have wired internet too)

    wuut? I almost feel the other way around, some swords require 2-3 hits (ive' had to slice a guy 4 times once, and those where good hits!)
    the only damage I want to see reduced is unmanned horses running around knocking quite a bit of health out of players. :neutral:
    and maybe thrown weapons since they get spammed alot.

    to be honest I've thought about this too. it would also reward teamplay alot more if you wouldn't fight over who gets the kill like some bloodthirsty maniac.

    ...we all know we are that anyway, right?


    the question is how should you be rewarded? you can't get ½ a kill so I guess that only leaves a small amount of gold and maybe some text saying "kill assist" or something. which is fine by me.

    there was a guy called Ragnar that was totally mowing down people like a madman.

    the worst player I've met so far is Eric_the_unready: simply because he's taking advantage of some glitch or something and that's just sad. (basically what he does is twitch around like a madman in über speed, and when you go after him he runs away turn 180 degrees in a split second and hits everytime with his javelin. it was so lame to see him twitch around just to have a chance of winning).

    Serial Key error!?!?!

    Okay, so after almost two weeks of playing the game I suddenly get a serial key error today!  :x anyone else got this? I've restarted the game twice now, and re-inserted the M&B CD twice as well. I'm getting a wee bit pissed xD so after switching to LAN and back a few times I got it working...

    what? I'd still be one round without one and I don't want to back out (esc) everytime I die just in case I might lose my weapon. not really a good solution either right? I want to play and have a good time, not babywatch my Denars all the time.

    yes that's what I'm going to do from now on too. I just wish I wouldn't need to encumber my character for the sake of playability.

    Are horses too fast uphill?

    ^it might be the difference from the way the handle in singleplayer that threw me off. anyways I've come to prefer being infantery anyways. that's where the most thrill is afterall >:]

Now from .500 to the current version (.613), i find that the speed of the horses are perfect and should remian that way...Now me being a lancer a lot and about going up hills, i find it perfect too, infact some spots on maps when you try to go uphill at a steep incline then your horse just stops. So thats actually good cuz in stead of slowing down the horse stops, and you start off slow again.. So i think they way they are is perfect..you just need to get used to them and you will think that they arent fast..

    EDIT: and its actually quite easy to control them. I never hit anything at all unless some douche walks in front of me  :lol:

    I've been playing for two weeks and I still think something should be done. and I'm not talking about drastical changes in speed, but it would be cooler and more strategical if cavalry had to be a little bit more mindful of where they're going.
