I'm not going to rule out driver issues, but my graphics drivers are all up to date and I'm running patch 1.134.

Use the numbers across the top of your keyboard, not the numpad--numpad keys by default are bound to something else.

When you select a group it should say the name of the group and then "hear me". So, when you hit 2, if it doesn't say "Archers, hear me" then the selection isn't working.

I know the numpad keys are for something else, I don't remember for what though.

and that's my problem, the selection doesn't seem to be working

Try using Diplomacy or Floris Expanded. I think they have special formations in them as well.

the mod I'm using has floris expanded already in it. But I believe the group selection commands should be working with native.

just tried that, but I'm still having the same problem. thank you anyways.
I don't get it, because my filers are all assigned 1,2,3,4 for each class of units but no matter which one I press it always ends up commanding "everyone"
my warband is patched up to the latest patch as well.

EDIT:
I just tried doing this in with fire and sword as well, but no luck it still orders my entire army to the position I choose, can you not select individual groups of units with this feature?

A zulu mod would be awesome. So many were started but none were finished.

eh, I've tried playing it on a PS3 and 360 controller but it doesn't feel the same... and I play oblivion on the 360 rather then PC 
but maybe it would work if it had a story, more quests, and more replayability.. the modding factor is what's been keeping me interested in M&B for years.
