  1. SP Other The Gathering Storm - A Wheel of Time Mod (Beta) Latest Version: V0.2.7d

Got the latest version.  Dunno which version I had before, but it's been a few months so I guess a lot got updated.
A lot of minor stuff has been cleaned up, which is good.

Half of the weaves still seem kind of useless..  Fireball, Earth blast and Defensive Blast seem to be the only ones I use.  Freeze doesn't seem to do anything, Heal I used to be able to use on myself if I healed my horse, now I'm not sure it does anything at all.  The way the game gives feedback is weird.  It says all my spells do 0 damage, but fire and earth definately damage enemies, whereas ones like freeze and air have a visible effect but don't seem to deal any damage.

If i kill enemies with Fire blast, my followers get credit for the kill, even if they didn't do anything at all.

Still, the mod is fantastic, and I've gotten way more value out of the game than I otherwise would have.

Really enjoying the game so far, excellent work.

Few min or bugs, but nothing really serious.
One thing I have noticed though is that neither my Freeze Blast or Fire Blast weves deal any damage (except for the secondary burning damage from the fire).  I figured it might be that my Channelling score isn't high enough (it is only 67 presently), though it does make combat more difficult than in SR, especially as I begin piecing together a strong party.

Another thing that makes things more difficult is that I can't Heal myself; which is thematically accurate, but again I wasn't sure if that's how it was supposed to be or not.

I don't mind using CapsLock to switch weaves, but with the large number of weaves in this game, I might recommend more specific hotkeys (alt+f, alt+g, something like that) just so ou don't have to cycle frantically to Heal someone as opposed to lightning them on fire or needlessly dispelling something.

I will say though, the first time a Black Sister slammed a Shield on me, I was very impressed, and I couldn't help but smile when the Shield disappeared after I cleaved her off her horse with a well-timed swordblow.

    Downloading now.

I've greatly enjoyed the Shadow Rising mod, and so am curious to try this one out.  Seems like the Shadowspawn and Channelling have a lot more depth.

I'm still praying they finish the WoT mod for Rome: Total War, too.

There was an old WoT mod for Rome: Total War which is dead now, and I believe they released the mod so that other modders could use their files. It could perhaps be useful. I think I might have it on an external harddrive somewhere if it is of interest.

I saw the entry for that on The Guild, I got really excited; I love the Eurpoa Barbarorum mod for Rome, and I love WoT

To the OP:  Sweet mod, dude.   I'm digging it hardcore so far
I just started playing, and playing as an Aiel is kinda tough, but totally worth it.

    *Spoiler*
And yes, Two Rivers Archers being on Rand's side makes perfect sense, as they serve under Perrin Goldeneyes

    Emperor Lancaster 说:
I advise you to consolidate your relationships with Lords of factions most friendly to you. If you can, you should join a faction if you have enough renown. That way, you become acquainted with Lords and Kings, and you are able to rise in your status as the Marshal of a faction.

As a matter of fact, I have been elected for the fourth consecutive time as the Marshal of Swadia under Lady Isolla of Suno.

Well, I joined the Nords almost right away

Unfortunately, the King decided to declare war on the Vaegirs, and while the Khergits are annoying, none of the Vaegir Lords roam around with less than 80 troops and I basically can't stop them from constantly pillaging my village of Jayek.  Also, the Vaegirs were my closest friends aside from the Nords.  I guess I need to make nice with the Swadians and Rhodoks now.

I now have over 40,000 denars, but very little to spend it on (I have more or less the best weapons, armor and horse I could find), and can train 700+ experience a turn, but lost all my Huscarls when I had to run from a Vaegir Lord who ambushed me.  I had three alied Lords nearby, but as I'd just helped them defeat a Vaegir Lord, they wanted to head back to Sargoth and resupply, and so they ran away, and I had to sacrifice 18 soldiers to escape the ambush, losing  all three of my Huscarls.  Firente freaks out whenever I loot a village, so now I'm back to attacking Caravans and Raiders.  Kinda feels like two steps forward, one step back.

    Thanks for the tips, guys.

Really, I can handle fighting the Khergits with other lords around, it's only when I get isolated I get into trouble.

I joined up with an Army marching to Sungetche Castle and helped them retake it from the Khergits.  LAter I was passing by Uzu.. uh.. the castle in the pass near Narra, and it was basically undefended, so I besieged it, demanded the commander surrender, he did, and I took it.

I asked the King for it and he granted it to me, but it still says it's occupied by no one and I can't Garrison it yet, so I guess I'll camp there untill it lets me.  It was a lucky break, though.  If I can just garrison it, it'll give me an excuse to start building a new army.

I finally got a Huscarl and a Vaegir Knight.  If I can start again, I'll probably load up on Nords, Vagirs and Khergits

Also through trade, prisoners and taxes (mostly trade) I've build up a reserve of 25,000 denars, and after raiding a Khergit town before taking the castle, I'm completely loaded up on furs, oil and velvet I haven't had a chance to sell yet.  So, I think things have turned around, so long as I eventually get to claim my new castle.
  7. Typical progress of a game

    Hey folks, new player here.
I'm on day 175 (I've spent a lot of time as a prisoner) and am a level 14 Nordic Lord.  I was given Jayek as a fief and have a mill almost completed.

Currently, I have a 48-man warband comprised of everything but Rhodoks, including Mercenaries.  I heard Mercenaries are overpriced, but all my Mercs have horses, and since the last time my warband got wiped out (has happened over a dozen times), very few of my factional troops have wages above 26.  Since I fight primarily Khergits, infantry tends to die a lot, and I've never had any Nordic troops reach Huscarl.

Even with so much cavalry, I have a hard time chasing down deserters, and can barely even outrun Sea and Mountain Bandits.  I have 5000 gold and my army's weekly wages amount to over 1000, so money is starting to get scarce.

The Khergits are just to strong to face alone, and the last three times KingRagnar has called me to join his army, he's been out in the field in Khergit territory.  All three times, I rushed out to join him, couldn't find him, backtracked all the way to a friendly castle, asked to his location, rode out to meet him, got ambushed by huge Khergit warbands, had to continuously retreat, losing 5-10 soldiers each time untill I made it back to a friendly castle, at which point I had to rebuild my warband.

So presently, I'm at the point where I'm too big to fight most of the raiders roaming around, but still too small and weak to fight the Khergits., who are down to three cities and two castles anyway.  I've been tempted to agree with lords wanting to wage war on the Rhodoks, as the Swadians share too much of our borders and the Vaegirs have been weakened by the Rhodoks and Swadians.

Right now all of my income comes from the paltry taxes of my town, selling the weapons and slaves I take from the occasional clash with raiders, and collecting taxes for another lord.  Collecting debts almost always costs me more than it earns me, atempting to persuade lord always drives up the cost of purchasing the debt.

So, I'm coming to a point where I may have to start getting rid of the Mercenaries that are the backbone of my army, aside from my six mounter Companions.
