    I run only from Dark hunters and raiders if the number of my army is less than 75% theirs...

    Yes, you're right...

    As enemies they are very dangerous... But they are not so useful when it comes to your army. That's why i prefer sharpshooters... Since you can always supply your army of some good cavalry unit which is more efficient in melee combat.

    I always have my cavalry so I don't need the sharpshooters to enter melee combat, but if that should happen, then maybe xbowmen are a bit more complete than their upper class...

    And for the cavalry which bite the dust... Well if you try to charge with them, it's more likely that enemy xbowmen try to get you than your knights, and with a good shield you may avoid some casualty

    Better armors you say... Maybe... But think about it a moment...

    How many enemies can reach a Sharpshooter group?
    I personally see many people falling dead before taking in melee combat a Sharpshooter.

    I sure prefer Sharpshooters even if their cost is 33 and xbowmen is 17 (with Leadership 4)

    Let me tell you: My outfit is composed by a Blue Sturdy Gambeson, a Khergit Bow and 27x3 Bodkin Arrows... And often I take no damage in combat because they get to me very seldom (but when it does happen it's not a fairy tale, i must admit)
    I have no helmet, no boots and no gloves, because I found out that in this game is almost worthless, when it comes to an arrow between your own eyes...

    Anyone has his preferences, though, and i'm not saying i am right. I'm saying only my way of playing...

    Well, I agree with Janus...
    This means that we should focus on our primary skills, choosing which one is worth the while...

    But in this case, wouldn't it be better having some "specialist hero" who could have the only purpose of healing or outdoors skills?
    (If this is the case, then Marnid's trade skill becomes useless, as for Borcha's prisoner management skill, just because their primary stat becomes intelligence, making charisma useless)

    In fact... i think allied heroes are good only for their party skills  :cool:

    Yeah maybe they are linked... 'cause when that happens, my framerate is lower than 10fps.

    Anyway I seldom use shields to protect myself... I prefer sending my troops before me and shoot from behind  :mrgreen:

    It doesn't seem a mouse problem to me...

    Anyway, do you really think that using a shield which covers half of your body you are 100% safe from anything coming towards you from all directions or that is realistic that every blow is certainly blocked by a shield?

    I didn't catch if the problem occurs in 1vs1 melee fights or in open field battles, but I got hit by an arrow coming from an archer who stood in my direction when I was covering myself with my shield.

    I think this may be part of the size stat of the shields in .751, which is one of the news from .731
  11. What does the one-handed, two-handed and polearms profiency do?

    Yeah, well... IMHO also damage, and not only speed is improved with proficiency...
    For those who don't believe me, just do a simple try: restart the game and check on a bunch of enemies... Even with the best of your playing skills you're gonna have problems, just because you will be used to play with a character which has certain stats (especially on strength, agility and proficiency, for the purposes of combat)... and these stats (if you don't cheat) will be much lower than your first character's... So you'll certainly be able to notice the differences.

    Regarding polearms, they do couch faster and recover faster after a hit. But it's not only faster... You surely know that there's a speed threshold which determinates when the polearm will be couched... The proficiency lowers this threshold, making your polearm couch sooner (and also with better effects).
    The same way you can reload your ranged weapon (in this case, i agree that precision is the most visible effect of proficiency)
    The swings of melee weapons are basically much faster and they become more and more lethal going forward with improvements.

    Anyway, I think the most important skill to be improved on game is experience... not the one of the character, but the one of the player who commands it from the keyboard! I mean, you could have proficiencies at 400 and not be able to catch time to hit or take aim to enemies... Or have proficiencies at 50 and accumulated lots of fights with older characters and be an expert of the game.

    This is "just" because this game is made differently from any other rpg you may find. Here you may be at level 50 and be killed with a simple arrow cast from the bow of a weaker enemy. Just try other games... you'll NEVER be killed by weaker enemies...

    That's a problem that occurred to me, too...
    Randomly the game stops and i return to desktop with no messages or errors.
    I think that the best solution for now is to save before doing important conversations... or risk it

    2- Since noone got a solution... i think the best option is to wait for M&B2

    3- For M&B1 the probability is almost 0%, concerning M&B2 is 100%

    This is what i came to understand reading the previous posts from the very first pages of this thread...
