    A. Know thine enemy. Also I'm interested as to how would the Russian equivalent work. Like the female sniper companies the Reds had in the war or...?

Smoking is very bad for your health!

On topic and continuing from my last post - has anyone here ever tried smoking others herbs than commercialized industrial wastetobacco and ganja?

Smoking is very bad for your health!

Ok. In that case my pipe should be tried for war crimes for the quantity of material that has been burned in it.
    lol

I say C. The poor bastards are most likely penniless conscripts that were pressed into service at the threat of execution.

Actually, Jhess - they may be shooting at the witches not so much because they want to, but because there's a politruk with them. The other soldiers would usually be thankful to anyone who kills their political officer. So if he and his NKVD *****es bite it, the rest should scatter. Now, if they're all NKVD troops, just butcher them  Those ****ers are mostly fanatical volunteers.

Or, y'know, one could smoke something other than commercialized industrial wastetobacco

    Dumb vassals

Yes, you should have to capture castles all by yourself, because vassals are dumb. You want something done right, do it yourself

In all honesty, whether they take a castle is a bit random. The most important thing is to send more than one lord for every siege. If there's just one guy with a 100 blokes vs. a garrison of 150+, naturally he won't stay there. The other thing is to patrol (yourself) around the castle and make sure there's no random targets or big threats that could throw the besiegers off of their current job. It takes a bit of managing, but I would still suggest that you take fortresses by yourself. Building an army capable of that is not hard, and while your lords patrol the area, you shouldn't be bothered too much by annoying enemies.

Good on yer, Ulf, after looking it up the M26 is kind of a crap heap. Pretty Orky looking too.
But Orky shootas are da best. Dey're big, an' clunky, an' noisy, an' an' an'... wull, Orky
As for the historical accuracy, so far Jhess is doing whatever she wants. So let's see how this rolls.

Dude, the propellers on those strikers are not material. For all we know, them guns will be shooting with magical phlebotinum.

The fact that her friend hefted an autocannon or somesuch with ease should tell you that accurate aiming in flight should not be an issue for these gals. I just wanna see the stock scene that one sees in so much anime - the heroic sky fighter heroes and antagonists dancing through the air like electrons in a reactor while expending massive quantities of ammunition at each other and not hitting at all. Just so one could dramatically die from stubbing their toe and realize the error of their ways in a teary and heartwarming scene several rematches later.

I know Jhess said she will not follow the usual anime tropes for this kind of thing, but so far the cheese is bubbling happily in the writing pot.

Which reminds me - I really want that bear cavalry. Even if just to see how far the cheese can be stretched

In history, there's no such thing as starting over. Instead it's called 'iteration X of experiment Y'  That's what happens IRL all the time.

Addendum - I want bear cavalry. With brown bears carrying teenage Russian guerrillas serving as scouts and polar bears carrying two-man Dushka teams as dedicated AA support

See, I cannot and will never accept the idea of Calradia being ruled by Swadians. So I suspect we're gonna have fun with this

Well, if the other one is packing an elephant killer, then she will need some close quarters backup. So I say go for the LS M/26.
