Problem - assigning fiefs and lord relationships

    Mordr3d 说:
How do i quickly boost rep with all of my lords without aggravating others?
Buy them gifts. You basically trade 1k for 1 relationship point.

There is no ADVANTAGE after a huge winning on siege

    siprus 说:
does raiding his and other lords villages prevent them from recruiting or lessen the amount of soldier they get, or something?
In an indirect way, yes. Lords have to pay for their troops. If you raid their villages they will have less money to spend for troops resulting in smaller armies.
Keep in mind that kings and marshals receive free cash (that's why they tend to have big armies).

Increase maximum party members? and some more.

Galdus made a great work for beginners: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,113493.0.html.

As for the party cap you should increase your renown; higher renown = higher party size

    Khergits gimped?

    Charlie Brooker 说:
When was the last time you people played the original M&B?  They sucked in that too.
    You have a point .
But back then you had to pick them one by one (unless they hit the invisible wall )... Fighting them seemed to take forever (no routing, though) making them rather boring in the long run.
Now they're just dumb and faster to die...

What? People complain that they are bad now?

Have you fought them? They will just keeping running away from you, shooting arrows until you manage to catch up by pure luck.
Khergits is a horse archer nation, if you use their other units, of course they will suck.
Maybe in old M&B, but in WB they do NOT behave like that. They just charge at the enemy and get slaughtered.
In old M&B they were a pain in the *** to fight. You had to keep a bow (even if you were not an archer) just to fight them.
That's why they are now "stupid" IMHO: they're much more fun to fight.

    Beta patch 1.121

Notice the paradoxical name of that thread. Post release beta test? Is it just me, or is that admission of releasing a rushed product that's still in beta?
    It's me too...
BTW I agree with (most) of the things Ringwraith said.

But I like the fact that Taleworlds is continuing to work on this game even though M&B has been available for some time (and it's no longer in the steam's "top seller" list so it's selling less than before).

Would you mind restarting game if a patch has no savegame compatibility?

    I don't mind restarting.

But if I start over and don't see any major improvement THEN I will throw M&B out of the window... It's not fun to play for days just to see the same bugs in later stages...

Best way to start own kingdom?

    You can try my approach.
Join kingdom A. With your new friends conquer kingdom B. Not completely, leave B 1 city and 1 castle.
Then renounce your oath and declare war to B. B will be mad at you but you should be able to trash them easily (in fact they will beg for peace since they will be at war with 2+ enemies at once).

So in practice you will fight a crippled enemy and then you have a chance to organize your empire before challenging the remaining empires.

What's the difference between original and Warband singleplayer?

    Rafael Neves Lazera 说:
I don't see how ripping for no profit is illegal. You can see thousands of Resident Evil, Star Wars, etc. mods and videos all over the internet, and I'm sure not all of them have asked for permission. And we do have a Star Wars mod for M&B. Should we terminate everyone involved as well as the bastards that had fun with it?
The mere existence of such videos doesn't make them legal... otherwise pirated games would be legal just because the're available...

Is the original better than Warband?

My thoughts: if you own M&B don't buy warband.
I mean, if you are bored of M&B single player you will not find so many differences in Warband to keep you playing for long.
There's another faction but they are just like swadians in pajamas.  You can create custom groups (infantry, archers and so on) but you cannot tell them how to fight. It's just: stand here or there, follow me, do as you please.
You end up exploiting game limitations instead of relying on "real" tactics. ie there is no "real" tactic against zombies from the ground (Reinforcements have arrived!).

The multiplayer is cool but I just can't squeeze fun from it (it's my fault, I guess)
I mean, what's the point of learning that you can't be stunned twice by a 2H weapon? I know knowledge is power but...

But, if you don't own M&B vanilla go buy Warband immediately. There are very few games so addicting...

    Realistic Combat

This game is not historically accurate at all... (that's why it takes place in Calradia ) It's meant to be fun!
So if they throw in some grappling moves I would like to use them!

Right now kick-slash-kick-slash isn't realistic AND it gets boring pretty fast...

Getting the normal mount and blade

The only reason for buying the old M&B is speed...  I have a quad core PC but I can notice huge speed differences.

In the old M&B I never had the "new enemies have arrived" freezes that I hate so much in Warband

I can even tell in advance if there will be bandits on my way to the marketplace just because the screen freezes for several seconds...

    A singleplayer manual

    Galdus 说:
    2. When you fight another lord, and you capture him, you have a chance to release them for honor and rep. You will gain +5 rep. and 1-3 honor. (If you attacked him you will lose -1 reputation so if he escapes you will get a negative relationship bonus).
Also note that some lord hate to be treated like this: you will get a huge relationship penality the next time you meet them (-20 or worse).

    BTW Great work Galdus!

No it is not: you travel at different speed based on the ground you're on...  That's why you seem to be sucked by roads...

I hate not having a way to tell the garrison force short of going in person. I mean, if it's my castle, why should I not know?

I hate to be king and knowing that no matter how hard I work, any stupid ransom broker is way richer than me... Let me kill them!

The point here is not about AI being smarter, but I think they "messed up" with the weapons reach system. Even with a sword of war (130 reach), I have to get FAR closer to the enemy than in original M&B to hit them.
Well it works both ways... the enemy should be close as you are so it's the same IMHO

Nevertheless I partially agree: Warband is harder than vanilla as long as you stick with crappy armour. But as soon as you pick a warhorse and a full plate you will ride guys down...

    Damage set to Normal.

    UnfortunateCrow 说:
I started a female character on normal damage and realistic saves...Oh boy.

Started out alright, working out on looters and such.  I had a few swadian recruits that I trained up to footmen and militia, as well as one man-at-arms.  I decided to jump on a band of five forest bandits to hopefully swipe some half-decent gear for Rolf or Marnid.  Opening volley from the bandits scores a solid hit on me, leaving me in pretty bad shape, my men get cut down in seconds, and I attempt to flee the map, lol!  I get near the edge of the map, zig-zagging all the way when finally one of their arrows nicks me and I go down.

So of course I get taken prisioner and get to watch myself get carted all over the map for a while until I escape.  First thing I do is find the nearest city and find out where Rolf and Marnid are.  Marnid is close, so I'm able to get him back, but Rolf is in Sarranid lands.  To make things really bad, I am broke, so it is just Marnid and I trekking across the desert.  Well As I am headed into the desert I realize "Hey I don't have a horse!".  Those damn forest bandits took it!  No matter, I willmake a beeline for the city.

I get within about an inch of this city before I get intercepted by a group of desert bandits!  The battle goes as expected, and I end up getting carted around the desert for a week before escaping...only to be captured again!  So begins an epic string of 5 more captures and subsequentescape and re-captures...  =(  Finally I get loose and make a run for it, escaping into Khergit lands.  I can only imagine the horrors my pretty little female character endured at the hands of the desert bandits, again and again.

She finally did get loose for good in Khergit lands and got ahold of some cash by selling the precious little gear she had.  She raised a small band, and headed back to the desert bandit camp she'd seen in her "travels".  The first attempt at eliminating the bastards came up just short and they moved the camp, leaving a bitter taste in her mouth.  I figured she'd have a pretty big figurative hard-on for them though, and so I scoured the desert looking for the new camp, killing as many desert bandits as I could in the process.  Finally she found it and exacted some bloody retribution.  Afterwards, she emerged from the desert wearing desert garb and sarranid weaponry that was much different from the swadian gear she had entered the desert in som many months earlier.

After that, I went to the nearest city and exited the game.  It felt so epic that I don't even want to continue the character.  It was just the perfect ending, and I am pretty happy I stuck with it!
Cool. Thank you for sharing it with us
