    I really don't know if they're making a console port, and since apparently a lot of Steam players choose to play with gamepads maybe they're making these additions to cater to those guys, on the other hand, games like Kenshi -open worlds sandbox, write your own story, build an army, strategize - doesn't need gamepad support to be successful and cater to people, it needed actual content, a ****load of imagination, opportunities for the player, etc. Imagine if the guys at Kenshi stopped adding features or whatever just to start changing every UI to cater to gamepad users, it would be kinda stupid since there are more important things than letting the player play with a gamepad as if the combat wasn't good enough already in mouse + controllers. I know this isnt the right thread, but I think it adds since they instantly start working on other things that are so unimportant right now when there is so much to be done, but here we are again with the lack of direction. Huh maaaybe now we should start making improvements for gamepad players, maybe noow we should move to redesigning walls and sheep textures, maybe now we should make all the art in the town menus all over again. I have no idea on how many times they have resetted things, but it feels like its going to take another decade for the game to finish if they just start doing everything again from scratch, it really hurts my head, just take a look at the previous videos and see how much the menus and the UI has changed, they just can't settle with one thing and start working in other important issues
    go to your bannerlord module folder, open Native, and open the submodule.xml
    you'll see bunch of console configuration and xmls there

    This is for gamepads. Previous vertical bar system is not usable for gamepads. That's the reason.
    I don't like it. Nobody plays Bannerlord using gamepad for F sake. Revert it.
  12. Modding in C# feels incredibly boring and tedious.

    I have been a programmer for quite some time and Bannerlord has finally got me excited about modding.

    I only have two asks, apart from good docs:
    1. I need unit test support. Currently, in my code there is no way for me to do any dependecy injection or mocking, meaning I would have to run the whole thing in order to know if my 10 line new class function works... I don't know how the devs are doing their unit testing, but please open it up for us as well.
    2. UI-less E2E testing support. I would like to test tha my mod works within the context of the larger codebase without having to launch the whole UI. This helps me sniff out runtime errors and mod incompatibilities that are not possible to catch with unit testing and iterate on my code quicker.

    You have us a full big-boy programming language to use for mods, please let us use best practices in our programming then.


    (My apologies if this is already possible and I just didn't find it)
    Agree with this guy, I hope that TW does unit test and mocking support, if not maybe that's the reason why we see feature regression in every version.

  14. Tactical decisions on the battlefield should play a bigger role in deciding the tide of battle

    The game leans more on the action RPG side, with just elements of strategy sprinkled in here and there. The video in the OP is great, and I think that it is awesome that people are making these types of mods and that the game supports them, even at this early stage, but I think that something along those lines would be too complex to use as a player and draw the game out too much, ultimately detracting from the fast-paced action and gameplay.

  15. File verification - A common issue with broken mods.

    BetterExceptionWindow 2.0 will have XML verifier, this is for common XML errors such as typo.
    But for DLL verifier, it's gonna be hard to implement.

    Must I use Visual Studio for C# programming or can I use Visual Studio Code? I have used C# in VSC for other purposes previously (web development). Can I do the same? What is really the difference? I have never used VS I just heard it is a big slow beast and VSC is nicely lighter.

    we can totally slap this and called it bannerlord.js on nexus or something where user can load javascript program dynamically without compiling and all that jazz, but we need to write debugger tool to make this bearable
