One Caveat before I begin. I've read so much praise about the Diplomacy Mod, so I finally dl'ed it today and I've yet to play it. I have no clue if some of my suggestions are even possible or feasible.

thanks for your comments. maybe you can come up with a list of possible improvements to the family affiliation.

Effects :
- Relation with each family member increased (if >= 0 then +10 . If negative, then set to zero).
- Relation with each family member increased monthly (+4).
- Relation with rivals of each family members affected (-
.
- Family members could not refuse to marry daughter to you.
- No tax when resting inside family owner castle/town.
- If family member defeated, -3 relation point with every family members. Since you appears not able to protect them.
- If family member emprisoned, -4 relation points per week with him. Since you no worry and no hurry to rescue him.
Re the -3 relationship loss to all family members due to one of their Lords losing a battle. I can understand where the OP of this mod was going to. If you join a Family, you get some benefits and some responsibilities. The hitch comes with the game not even informing you of when a Family member Lord is even in a battle, let alone in trouble. You do get notified of when their Castles/Towns are being besieged, but not for individual battles.
Ideas to make it more 'fair' to the player. If the player is involved in the battle itself and the Family Lord still loses, then the loss of relationship to all of the Family would be appropriate. Or if the player fails to come to aid when notified of the Castle/Town being attacked and the Lord loses (optional - even if the Family Lord wins), then the relationship loss is appropriate. (Edit - the reverse is also appropriate, Plus relationship to the entire Family if you save him).

Its not like they asked you to follow them on a mission or anything... that would make sense.
Would it be possible to include a 'Call For Help' for the Family Lord that is in trouble out in the Field (including info where they are), or a request to follow a Family Lord? In those cases, a loss of relationship for failing to either accept the Quest or defeat would be appropriate.
Also, if I'm still a relatively small member of my new Faction (IE - early in the game), the obligations of being the 'Savior' to my new Family should be very difficult, so it would be advisable to not jump into this too early or you'll have to take the consequences.
An added optional benefit of joining a Family, would be if your relationship to them is high enough, is the ability to call only them for a personal Campaign oranother benefit of passing out captured Fiefs to members of your adopted Family while you are still only a Vassal in a Kingdom (with the resulted loss of rep to the rest of the Faction Lords and King). You're in essence raising up the power of your new Family.
The ultimate reward for all of this hard work 'in-game' would be the ability to recruit 'en-mass' the entire Family when/if you start your own Kingdom (all Fiefs included).
PS - I now realized I should have read the main 'Family" thread first, as some of these suggestion have been put forward (and saw some great ideas besides - I love the one about a Family Council or a Family get-together).
