  1. Do items in a castle chest disappear when the Castle is captured?

Well at least companion gear is never lost like your gear is, so you can slowly build your way up to an optimum 8 companion build where nobody conflicts.
  2. The Domination of Nords

    UnfortunateCrow 说:
Most of the "weak" factions are only weak because a lot of people don't play on normal damage.  450 kills with only 7 deaths against the Nords just does not sound right...But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because I've had similar results with all sharpshooter armies and such.

I play a space sim called X3 also...You see all these threads about what is the "best" ship.  The answer is of course "whichever one the player is in".

Just like X3, the best faction in Mount and Blade is "whichever one the player is using".

Nah, you can do it quite easily.  So long as your troops are knights.  The AI is craptacular with infantry on open field.  I play on normal damage everything, plus highest settings for AI.

It's nords on defensive sieges that are insane.  Walk up the ramp to get twenty throwing axes in the face, and if you finally reach the top, all your mounted power is gone and you have to face heavy armour guys.
  3. Do Lords disappear forever?

I've had some lords in my game go into exile away from the lands of Calradia.  Does this mean they are gone forever?
  4. Homing javelins of instant death

I think they're used to playing games where you can get shot 10 times in the head and continue to fight

They should just be happy that encumbrance has been reduced so it means zilch and the Sea Raiders aren't smart and aim for the horses. 40 lightly armored fighters could easily take down 8 knights in real life.

Well I can accept javelin to the face, but throwing axe to the chest knocking me out with 75 damage is a bit extreme.

Anyway if you really wanted real life, 40 lightly armoured fighters would be massacred by 8 knights in real life.  I don't think you realize how powerful plate armour really was back then.  They stopped using throwing axes by the end of the early middle ages because they stopped doing any serious damage.  A fully armoured knight can wade through swords, so much so that the only weapons that ever hurt them were piercing or bludgeoning.  By late middle ages, swords were only sharpened for piercing damage because swinging was pointless.

I think the only thing is that I expect javelins to do more damage than throwing axes but because of the mechanics of the game, a throwing axe is substantially more effective than a javelin.
  5. Play as female for challenge?

I actually think its easier as a woman.  I got married and I got a lord and his troops just like that.  I had to work to get him a fief and a town but basically, once he has that stuff, I never had any problems with him about sexism or anything.  He has a small army but I'm guessing that I can just load him up endlessly?  I though the AI had to "build up" an army and reached some kind of max based on the lands they hold.  Do they really have no limit?  I mean like, if that's the case, I can just start loading a bajillion vaegir knights into my husband and bam I have the insta-destruction force.

Plus he never leaves you, he's apparently quite whipped.  He came with the Swads in a giant war party of all their lords, i walk up to him and tell him "Come with me to my kingdom"... and he only responds with "Yes, my dear/wife".

Anyway, it's hardly uncomfortable unless you're uneasy about your sexuality.  Plus, considering the game includes more than just christian europe, lesbianism and in fact, homosexual relationships, are hardly a banned concept.  As you get more east, homosexuality became more and more accepted.  So if you wanted a historical game then you'd have to include, not exclude, the practice.
  6. New patch swing problem

Oh that, yeah you gotta turn your head like 270 degree to the side to swing properly.  The area it considers to be thrusting is way too big right now.
  7. A problem in Mount and blade Warband!

I don't think they fixed it.  ATI cards have problem with the game if you use directx 9.  I doubt you'd notice any difference using directx 7, so you should just go with that for more stability.
  8. Why no town recruitment?

With the ability to be a king now, it makes more sense to hire soldiers via town criers, or paying someone in town to hire people from the villages.  Recruiting from villages as you passed through them made sense in the original M&B since you were, at most, a lord.  Now that you can be king/queen, would you really sully yourself recruiting the basic soldiers?  You'd only busy yourself hiring nobles in your army.
  9. New patch swing problem

I think the patch just expanded how clipping works, so even if the slightest thing touches your sword, your swing speed either decreases to nothing or you get blocked from attacking.  Its horrible when you're surrounded by 50 peasants but you can't even swing a hand axe because they're touching your arm.  It's annoying on cavalry as well, when you ride in full speed and then swing with your 2H sword and then... nothing cuz the blade touched too early... although logically speaking a giant piece of steel coming in at a full horse speed should do quite some damage (also damage to your arm but let's ignore that).
  10. My Vassals not garnisoning their castles ?!

No its a bug.  You have to say you want to assign it later after you conquer, otherwise you take a relations hit for no reason because it doesn't get assigned.
  11. Siege AI

Yeah i noticed that too.  I think hold there sorta works but some guys still rush the ladder.  Maybe follow me works?  The enemy choking up the ladder works best though.
  12. Homing javelins of instant death

    bigtoebubby 说:
im guessing you already have a companion stacking first aid?

with sarranid guard armor (41 body defense), i can take about 6 arrows to the body and about 3-4 javelins before being knocked unconscious. eight points to ironflesh--75 total hp-- is awesome

there's no way around surviving a headshot or side-lance though--just more awareness and caution

You sure?  Armour seems to do 0 block against piercing (so javelins do full damage and if you're cavalry, that means taking 40-70 hit from the weakest skirmishers), about quarter at most against bludgeoning and somewhere around half against cutting.

A javelin *should* take you down if hit in the face with it, but throwing axes doing 75 damage hits doesn't seem right.  I'm wearing 70 armour of plate and mail!  It's pretty random and I try to use my knights to shield my charge but every so often, bam throwing axe to the chest doing a ridiculous amount of damage despite being cutting damage.  Oh well, my pack of knights still kill at 20:1 ratio.
  13. Where's the rain?

Rain and snow would be nice, though the fog probably causes some balancing problems since the AI is unaffected.
  14. Improving Relations with Vassals

Well I can tweak it but I rather the devs just balance it better.

I don't mind that people don't like not receiving every single fief, but really when there are zero methods to improve relations, that's a broken system.  The only path is downwards for relations.  Like for instance, my char's husband Lord Stamar, is now pissed he has less fiefs than others so he gets a -1 relation every so often.  Okay fine.  Now I should do something to improve my relations with him.  What options have I?  Fight alongside him in battle.  That's about it.

I can see they went for the politics where there are rivals and everybody is greedy.  That's fine.  They just need way for proper relationships to develop.  I have a startup kingdom, so naturally few of my lords are related to one another.  So if I give a fief to anybody, everybody else gets angry.  I think this is a sorta overlooked problem when the game mechanic was brought in.  It's like in Civilization 4 where the computers never ask other computers on offers that they might be refused on because they know exactly what is an acceptable offer by computer standards.  So what happens is that while the Human player can refuse requests by the AI, thereby taking a relationship penalty, the computers never do, so it eventualy becomes this computer alliance versus humans.  I guess, I can choose to cut my losses and just go with 3 lords but then i basically have 400 troops to guard a whole country.
  15. Question: Move my court room to another fief I hold?

You have to take ownership of the new location and grant the fief to yourself.
  16. Marry a King? Female chars & marriage

I think it's practically equivalent.  I got my char married and basically i got a whipped husband.  I told him to leave Swadia and come with me to my faction and bam he instantly did it... while in a massive swadian war party of like 15 lords.  I suppose its different in that, a female char gets a lord as a husband and thus a pack of 100 troops to go with the marriage package.

I seriously doubt the game lets you marry kings but I don't know if its explicitly blocked.  I think all the kings already have a wife or something so you can't do it.
  17. Vassal Script Error

It happened for me after i told Lord Stamar, my char's husband, to follow me (because i wanted to siege a castle).  Then i told him i didn't need him anymore and hten the error showed up.

It goes away after awhile and I am unsure of the cause and effect for that.  Changing marshalship did not seem to help.  Telling a lord Stamar to follow me again does get rid of it.

After changing marshalship, launching camapigns, telling him to follow me or squirrel off, it comes and goes very randomly now.

I also notice it sometimes appears when i get a new lord and he magically disappears from the map for awhile (after i tell him i will accept his pledge but he has no fiefs).
  18. NO Income, 3 fiefs, a main city

Well you might need to visit them, or it could be infested by bandits, or it could be looted (i've noticed you dont get income if it gets burned down), also if you assigned to yourself after you've taken it there's a bug that causes it to be assigned to nobody (although you'll still take the relations hit). You gotta go to your minister to assign the fief to yourself
  19. Why capturing a castle or city doesn't give morale?

Well at least you can recover morale if your side is winning in a battle where you get knocked out.  Unless you're horribly outnumbered then it thinks your knights can't even hurt peasants.
  20. Faction problems

Does the cheat mode let you change relations?
