  1. Ultima Online Returns to 1998 - In Por Ylem 2

Did you ever miss out on the first MMO to really break ground? Well, heres your chance to get back into the past and see why theres 2000+ people playing a game thats 10+ years old. www.inporylem.com Its entirely free and run on donations. Currently the server population is booming at 2000+...
  2. With fire and sword

This can't be an official expansion... it looks terrible. Why would they even post this video to advertise it?

NPCs stuck so battle won't end? Check.
Horsemen getting stuck on everything? Check
    Thrusting still sucks? Yep.

I did however see 3 ladders during a siege which is an upgrade. Though, do the gates still not work?

I wouldn't pay for this at all. The only thing that looks worthwhile in it is some new skin/weapon textures.
  3. News: 1.332 Full version release 07/02/2011

Why are you ending the mod at 1.34/5?

I've played this mod for awhile and it has some EXCELLENT potential but I believe there is still a lot that can be done/tweaked changed. Has the mod reached all you've wanted to do for it?

  5. World Map Ground Texture Freakout

    Aye, but will it work?

I've tried using the most up to date drivers and a few of the older versions and had the same issue.

Heres how you fix this issue

    1. Modules Folder, Select whichever you wish to play
    2. Go into the "Game_Variables.txt" file and look for anything that says "Buffer" in it.
    插入代码块:
    # Initial Buffer_sizes
    # Modders may adjust these large enough so that the game will not need to restore
    # buffers during the game. However keeping them excessively large will reduce performance in most systems.
#Buffer_sizes (if smaller than 65535, this also represents the maximum vertex count for a corresponding mesh)
    #new_buffer_size_dx7_regular_ffp_static  = 262144
    #new_buffer_size_dx7_regular_ffp_dynamic = 262144

    #new_buffer_size_regular_ffp_static =  32768
    #new_buffer_size_regular_ffp_dynamic     =  32768
    #new_buffer_size_regular_static          = 131072
    #new_buffer_size_regular_dynamic         =  65536
    #new_buffer_size_skinning_static         = 131072
    #new_buffer_size_skinning_dynamic        =  65536
    #new_buffer_size_normal_map_static       = 131072
    #new_buffer_size_normal_map_dynamic      =  65536
    #new_buffer_size_normal_map_skinning_static  = 131072
    #new_buffer_size_normal_map_skinning_dynamic =  65536

That is what you should change it to. Put #'s before the top two Buffers then the entire section of Buffers below it.

I have yet to have a single graphics glitch after applying this fix. The game DOES seem to crash instead of tweak out though, just not very often. It'll crash out maybe once every fifty Alt-Tabs or so. Just be sure to save before you Alt+Tab out.

Otherwise, this has been working great.

NOTE - Do this for each Game_Variables.txt in EACH Module folder you are playing.
  6. what's the best mod?

I wish some of these modders would form together like Voltron and actually produce something ****ing epic for themselves and the community.

Pendor and Brytenwalda come really close in my opinion. However, both leave out a bunch of changes and tweaks the other used and I believe it'd be beneficial to explore the same areas of fixes in both games.

That said... one of those Dev's doesn't speak very good English and the other doesn't seem too receptive to suggestions on his next version due to (it being) a class project.
  7. World Map Ground Texture Freakout

Wow, and your witty response helps even more?

Anywhoot. I used .11 and .12 and have had similar problems.
I went and found that you can comment out some pieces of code somewhere and that'll do it. It's something to do with "buffers" and I remember the guy who posted the solution was Treebeard (or had an Ent for his avatar)
  8. WARBAND - Questions About Tactics, Strategy and Overall Gameplay

So you can tell them to "Flee in the direction of" and Lords will go to that castle even though there is a large host around it?

It is entirely frustrating to watch the AI ping-pong around outside castles because the enemy has a larger host. I'd rather have them suicide into it rather than just stand there.
  9. POP 3 Cheats - Warning: May spoil or crash your game!

Arguing about cheating is silly. I would never demand/expect to be given or helped out by one of the team members in doing it, but they have no way to stop the populace from doing it.

Personally? I think Mount and Blade just has a few design flaws that nobody really has touched into yet with mods. Sometimes a tweak/cheat can allow you to play your game to your liking (while still being a challenge!)
  10. Knighthood Orders/Honor troops

I found a treasure map for Valonbray (and got the prior mentioned Qualis Gem, thanks). Also, are the Ebony Gauntlet guys Foot Soldiers or Mounted? I'd be so happy if I could have an entire squad of people just like Sigmund
  11. World Map Ground Texture Freakout

Taleworlds is a bit behind then... or somebody is. I'm currently using Catalyst 10.12.
  12. World Map Ground Texture Freakout

The most recent. Sorry for the lack of earlier details.

    ATI Radeon 4870.
    Windows 7 64
    Steam Version of Warband
    Up to Date
Latest version of Catalyst (not the beta ones)
    Updated DirectX Runtimes

It seems to work in Directx7.
I'm just really irked I guess. No fix? No word? Is it only my card?

Directx7 just looks crappy. Thats the main reason I'm here trying to see if anyone has found a fix for the DX9.
  13. Knighthood Orders/Honor troops

I actually just went and looked for the one in
    Ravenstern
and I couldn't find it. You sure its still there in this version?

Did you try the hidden crate in Ravernstern? If not, go there and take a walk around the streets. You will find a treasure chest hidden in a haystack to the left, with a Qualis gem inside it!
Excellent spiler (is there spoiler text)? Thanks though. I'd really have never found that out myself.

Is there any way to disable companions leaving your party? I don't want a party of 20 companions... I usually only bring enough to cover the skill tree.

I just really dislike having to ride around and find them. I wouldn't mind the penalties of losing battles if my companions also stayed with me afterwards.

I usually group all party skills in 2 companions (of initially low level, so they level up quicker), and develop the rest to be better fighters. You can have a set of 8 companions that don't hate each other (see FAQ), so that's plenty for any way you want to develop them.
The best way is to make a list of the ones you want and make a round of Pendor's taverns early to collect them, dismissing or ignoring the rest. The earlier you get them, the more XP/proficiencies they'll gain from battles.

Aye, this is usually what I've been doing. That works fine for the most part. Though... correct me if I'm wrong.

You lost a battle (Low Morale applied)
    They leave
They appear at a tavern waiting to be rehired or... where do they go?

I literally always end up quitting/reloading. I don't mind losing a fight, I just don't think that running around the entire map trying to find your NPC companion is fun. Merely looking for a way to turn that "leave after lost battle" portion off. I don't mind if they bicker or hate each other... thats fine.

Thanks for the reply. I don't really expect there to be an easy tweak for it but it was a mere question. It is simply one part of the game that I don't enjoy. I'd be perfectly happy just being able to buy Generic "Hero" Skill Troops that simply fill the part of a companion without the relationships/storylines. Merely just a "Medic" that I can equip myself.
  16. A problem in Mount and blade Warband!

Has anyone found a fix to this? I've been asking around and I still have this problem with the latest version of Warband. If the problem exists in both versions a fix may be the same...

    Try deleting directories and reinstalling.

I honestly should have just ignored the suggestion, but I gave it a shot. Didn't work as suspected.

Nobody else has this problem? I found a listing for it in the bug tracker but it got nowhere. All my ****s up to date and I don't think anything is broken on my PC. It does it in Native as well as any of the other mods.

The world map will tear/artifact and sometimes the sky will show through it. It's really tiring. I could play the game on DX7 but it looks ugly as **** after playing with DX9 this entire time.

  19. World Map Ground Texture Freakout

It doesn't matter which mod I've played, including Native. I get this odd glitch where the worldmap will tweak out and leave streaks and artifacts everywhere. Pieces of my UI will just poof out of existence. I'm using an Radeon 4870 which is up to date. I've updated Direct X, Warband...

Actually the most fail mods out there are made by people that are no real programmers and started to play around in the module system.
People without basic programming knowledge have no idea what the hell they are doing and screw up more then they fix.

If you want to write some decent code you got to have at least some programming knowledge.
In the end language does not matter at all, Every real programmer picks up a new language pretty fast. It's all about the thought how stuff works and how you would create this or that in code.

To get to your issue, I think there are plenty of mods out there that pursue to "Fix" or improve upon what Native offers,
The problem is; If you make a mod just based on simple fixes for Native, nobody would download it, because a fact about downloading mods, Not a whole lot of people know how to find a mod.

If you reside to Server side only mods you can get quite far but not far enough... In the end, it's the big total conversions that stick around, because people download them for the sole reason to play a complete new experience.

Thanks for the worthwile response

I figured as much about the coding. Thats sort of what I mean... I don't want to pick apart anybody in particular's work... but I've played 2/3 of the big "major conversion" mods and while they have a lot of excellent portions to them, the only one that I've seen that really takes a big stab at fixing Natives issues and adding content is the Floris Mod pack.

I've got a group of RL buddies who are also interested in giving me a hand because they feel the same way. A total conversion mod with a good re-looking/re-tooling of the way some of the systems/design philosophies work.
