  1. AI Improvements

The AI don't seem to care about weapon reach, they just bum rush right into your personal space whether they have an 8-foot spear or a dagger. It would be nice if they stepped back, circled, and generally tried to keep out of the reach of your weapon, charging in only when they see an advantage. Of course it would be nice if there were real formations and new archer AI too, but I don't see any of these features coming to M&B soon.
  2. V .801 Bug Report Thread

I'm crashing after every battle as well. Also, none of the tournament masters in any of the towns are showing up. I haven't been able to fight an arena battle outside of Zendar.
  3. Loot problem in v. 0.800

Yeah, the loot is bugged. I have raided several caravans and received NO loot in every case. Not even a bag of grain. Kind of defeats the purpose of attacking them in the first place
  4. I'm not sure if talked before: have u ever led an army of pure archers?

I'm lucky if my force of 30 archers can get off two arrows before the enemy are upon them, and that's against slow moving foot armies. They just dance around and charge with their melee weapons after a while. I'm hoping for updated AI, a formation system, or anything really that will improve the buggy behaviour of ranged troops. They're kind of useless.
  5. SP Fantasy A Song Of Ice And Fire Mod

Well, recently I've been fiddling around with Python and trying to develop a Westeros mod by my lonesome. Right now I'm pretty much just waiting for the updated module system however.
  6. OH MY GAWD!!! (new website design)

I'm really impressed with the super dark and gritty concept art. It just reminds me how glad I am that M&B went for a straight-up medieval theme instead of some overdone high fantasy elf fest.

    Can't wait

    I use the unofficial editor.

You should really try to learn python. All your UE work is going to be incompatible with the new version of M&B anyway.
  8. All time favourite weopon

Nothing can withstand the heavy military hammer.
  9. SomethingAwful

Not a huge mention, but cool nonetheless.

hahahah, although they STILL say it's a good game, they just pick on it for being so INDIE.

How many other SA "goons" are at this forum btw? My username is "big in japan".

  10. Modding Q&A [For Quick Questions and Answers]

I think I got that error once when I added too many different troops to a party template. The max is 6 (including prisoners).

I also sometimes get it when I seperate lines of dialogue with \.

One quick question, how come everybody in my castle is on halucinogenic drugs? If they aren't on shrooms, crack, meth, or heroin, they're on SOMETHING.

    And I Love It.

It's because George cuts down on costs by making their armour out of lead. The mercury contamination in the river doesn't really help either. Also, you don't really notice it, but the castle is situated on an 8000 foot mountain. It's no surprise that a few people are suffering from extreme altitude sickness.
  12. Screenshots from the new version (Last update: October 17th)

Wow, incredible. So many new features. I like the new armour, looks like a haubergeon and some sort of brigandine. More variety!

Looks like the wait is going to be worth it.
  13. New Mod- Unknown Idea

    - Something about the Scottish border reivers. If you read up on the history you'll find it to be a really appropriate setting for Mount&Blade.

    - Cavemen/tribal mod. I dunno if it's been done already, but this could be potentially fun. Mix in some crafting and survivalistic aspects for bonus points.

    GRRM's A Game of Thrones:wink:

I've actually been slowly learning the module system so I could work on this. Right now I have a pretty bare-bones mod up and working, but advanced scripting still vexes me.  :???:
  14. Ultima Mod - idea stage

Ultima VI is also very good, and the gargoyle war could possibly make it a fun setting for a mod. All the Ultimas before VI take a little more patience to play however, as they're quite archaic by today's gaming standards. I wouldn't let that stop anyone from trying them out though.
  15. Ultima Mod - idea stage

Ouch. You should definitely play more of the Ultimas, considering U9 was terrible and UO isn't in the same genre. You haven't even begun to have the full Ultima experience! Try to get hooked up with a copy of the Ultima Collection ASAP, you won't regret it.
  16. favorite weapon

Military hammer (heavy). Seriously, try it out. It's really good for some reason.
  17. SP Fantasy A Song Of Ice And Fire Mod

One thing I'd like to get right off the bat is the map. I was thinking of expanding the scope to include a portion of the North, from King's Landing to maybe Deepwood Motte. I say this because The Last Days did a similar thing, and ever since then I realized that the North has a lot of potential, especially with the Ironmen. I would probably have to remake the map however, which I don't really mind since I had a few problems with my other one. If this proves to be too big, however, we could always use the old one.
  18. SP Fantasy A Song Of Ice And Fire Mod

I've been meaning to learn how to mod just to be a part of this, but have never had the time. Shameful because I'm the most obsessive fan of the books.

I would be most useful during the planning phase since I've done a ton of research for a previous ASOIAF mod that never made it off the ground. I've also made some accurate maps in the past. Who knows, maybe some day I'll get off my butt and learn how to do something useful like scripting or modelling, if I can fit in the time.
  19. Medieval Experiance Mod

    Xawery 说:
All joking aside... I think such a mod would be a very welcome addition; I generally applaud all historically correct mods. God (or any other deity of your choice) knows European history is rich enough to supply hundreds of viable and interesting scenario's. What we should focus upon, however, are IMO the possibilities and limitations of the M&B engine. Sure, one could make a mod of the Swedish-Russian War, but what's the point? The warparties in M&B are so small that any representation of a full-scale war would feel odd and abstract (in my opinion). I believe we should look for an era and scenario that would fit the feel of and capabilities of Mount&Blade.

I mentioned this in another thread, but the time of the Scottish border reivers fits the Mount&Blade gameplay almost too perfectly. I found a quote from a website:

For over 350 years up to the end of the 16th century what are now Northumberland, Cumbria, The Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway rang to the clash of steel and the thunder of hooves. Robbery and blackmail were everyday professions, raiding, arson, kidnapping, murder and extortion an accepted part of the social system.

While the monarchs of England and Scotland ruled the comparatively secure hearts of their kingdoms, the narrow hill land between was dominated by the lance and the sword. The tribal leaders from their towers, the broken men and outlaws of the mosses, the ordinary peasants of the valleys, in their own phrase, 'shook loose the Border'. They continued to shake it as long as it was political reality, practising systematic robbery and destruction on each other. History has christened them the Border Reivers. They gave blackmail and bereaved to the English language.

The stamp of the Reivers is still to be seen on the Border Lands - in it's architecture, culture and people. From the secretive fortified towns and farms to names that once struck fear into men's hearts - Armstrongs, Grahams, Kerrs, Nixons, Robsons - the legacy of the Reivers remains.

    A lot of possibilities here.
  20. Mod idea collection: I want this mod.

The time of the Scottish Border Reivers would be pretty much the most perfect setting for a Mount&Blade mod. They were some of the best light cavalry in existance, riding around the English-Scotland border plundering and looting for their respective families. They rode small horses and used cavalry lances, longbows, crossbows, swords, and later matchlocks and pistols. If you were a Border Reiver you could join a clan and do some marauding, take up a feud with another clan, do a little mercenary work for England or Scotland, rustle some sheep, siege a bastle house, take a town - and all in a stylish Burgonet helm!

It was like the wild west of the British Isles.
