  1. What is the best Band of Soldiers you've had?

  2. AI vs. Couched Lance

A couched lance is definately blockable by shield. The problem is, the AI never tries to use their shields to block it. Hence, many of them could have gotten away with a shattered shield rather then dead.

I believe this is because the AI is only programmed to block when confronted by someone ready to shoot/swing/thrust. Since the couched lance is automatically lowered, the threat would never register.
  3. AI vs. Couched Lance

I'm not sure whether to put it here or in the bug forum, but the AI never seems to put their shields up when about to be hit with a couched lance. I definately think that this should be implemented. It would help nerf lances, and be much more realistic.
  4. [Outdated] Unofficial Mount & Blade Editor (original thread)

Great editor, I have one problem though. I'm using Mag7 and hugemod v1.
Whenever I try to add an item to any unit (such as giving Sir Galahad a blade, or swadian_peasant armor) it gives me this error. I even get the error when I click 'Cancel' from the list with the items.

  5. I have Dark Knights :o :D

I guess 10 Dark Knights is fun...

  6. [v0.623] Mounted Two-Handed Swords

    Balor 说:
    SCIENCE!!

Note: this is all for swinging a two handed sword with one hand.

You're forgetting a few things. First, I= 1/3*ml^2 + md^2, where d is the distance displaced from the pivot point, and 1/3*ml^2 is the moment of inertia for a rod through its end. You also need to factor in for the swinger's arm.

To be simple, if we assume the pivot point at a person's shoulder with a 5 kg, .7 m long arm -- mine is around 3.3 kg, and I am weak, skinny and not clad in armor -- then the values for your sample swords are 1.64 and 3.30 kg-m^2. So its about twice as tough to swing.

I'm not sure how you'd calculate how hard it would hit, but my best guess would be angular momentum. And angular momentum (L=Iω) depends on tons of factors. Using some kinematics, I found L=√(2τθI), so the bigger sword would probably hit about 41% harder. Using other equations, the time taken to swing should also be about 41% longer.

    tl;dr for the non-science inclined
Difficulty to swing a 2 handed sword with one hand: Twice as hard as a one handed sword.
    Damage: 41% More
    Time: 41% More

    My suggestions:
Raise damage for all 2 handed weapons (say, for a sword of war to 50).
Lower speed considerably when on horseback. Instead of a 10% penalty, make it around 40-50%. Remember, its 41% more time to swing and to ready the sword. A better solution would be to raise the speed of one handed weapons by about 20% overall, and lower the speed for two handed weapons by about 20% on horseback.

This would make it so that two handed weapons are basically only for "drive by" attacks, and one handed weapons would be much more useful when stopped.

Note for people who will call me a nerd: All the calculations took under 5 minutes, and I needed the practice for my AP Physics test anyway.
  7. How to train Dark knights

I found a complicated, but tested, method.

    1. Find a party of Dark Knights.
    2. Have them follow you.
    3. Find a friendly party (say, if you're allied with the Swadians, a Swadian War Party*)
    4. Make the Dark Knights attack the party by leaving their visual range when their nearest party is the target (Swadian War Party).
    5. Attack the Dark Knights while they are battling the target.
    6. Use a blunt weapon to knock as many Dark Knights as you can unconscious. Try not to knock any Dark Hunters unconscious, I'm not sure if the allied parties have limited prisoner slots.
    7. When you win, half of the unconscious knights should be imprisoned by the Swadian War Party.
    8. Go to the nearest enemy town and switch sides.
    9. Attack the target, rescue Dark Knights from the Swadian War Party.
    10. Party hard.

*Due to a bug (I think), you can attack Swadian Prisoner Trains when you are allied with the Swadians, so if your target is a Prisoner Train, you may skip step #8.

Between steps 2 and 3, the Dark Knights love to break pursuit and follow groups of refugees/farmers. You can solve this by going to the attack screen with them, then leaving. They pause for a bit afterwards, allowing the refugees/farmers to escape a little. If you repeat, they eventually leave the Dark Knight's visual range and follow you.

Getting Dark Knights on your team is a ludicrously drawn out process without cheats (I only did it once and took a long time), but with cheats (mostly the See All and Telport cheats) this process can be lucrative (I got about 30 Dark Knights in two hours, give or take).

Also, Dark Hunters aren't very good, and do not train into Dark Knights.
  8. Two Suggestions

Suggestion 1: Allow the player to block when a shield is equipped with no weapon. This would be very useful to throwing weapon players that run out of ammunition. Suggestion 2: Allow blood to be turned off, or at least be able to lower the quality. While the blood itself looks good, my pc...
  9. Battles

I have noticed this as well (v. .622). Usually it happens with a mounted party and a foot party, although I have seen it happen to two mounted parties before. It gets annoying to not be able to see who is fighting.
  10. Combat Speed Option?

The .621 changlog (found in http://taleworlds.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=363) has the line "Added Combat Speed Option" in it. I can't seem to find this particular option. Does anyone know where it is? I'm using version .622.
  11. Attacking Prisoner Trains

Not caravans, prisoner trains. Caravans work properly, you can only "escort" caravans on your side, not attack them.
  12. Attacking Prisoner Trains

You can attack your own faction's prisoner train parties. E.g. I, working for the swadians, was able to attack a swadian prisoner train. After I did, the swadians made me pay a bribe and rejoin the faction. My salary was back at the entry-level one (or so it said, they never pay a salary)...
