  1. Tips on commanding a horse archer army?

Tip : Khergit Veteran Horse Archers have a greater Archery ability than Vaegir Marksmen (atleast in M&B 1 ). Dismount them and watch the fun.
  2. Garrison auto-fills?

Ok, in M&B the AI's castles and cities would magically fill over time. Thought the player had similar perks.
  3. Garrison auto-fills?

Does the garrison in player owned cities automatically fill over time or do we have to drag in recruits?
  4. Companion Renown and other Questions

    *Bump*

Nobody has an answer? My army's still not big enough to capture a Castle/Town with acceptable losses so I can't make my own Kingdom yet, and subsequently find an answer to my question.
  5. The Nords - an easy harvest.

    Cznielsen 说:
If you try to attack the nords with all damage to normal, combat AI to good and Campaign AI to good, just go pray to god and dig a tomb, cause you won't survive it.

    BEARCLAW!
  6. Good way to get a budget except raiding villages?

    kweassa 说:
    * If you have enough base capital, the Guildmaster mission which  requests you to stop the on-going war between two kingdoms is quite profitable - even if you pay both sides off.

    * IIRC, rescue missions don't increase hostility if you are not aligned with anyone and just take the mission as a free-lancer. Mega-XP and hefty sum of cash, too.

    * Travelling to the shores of Wercheg-Rivacheg and sweeping the raider horde is also a good way to earn some quick money - a group of 20~40 raiders usually drop loot worth around 400~600. If you have a strong enough army which can dispatch these roach vikings without suffering casualties, and if you have a large inventory, you can sweep 3~4 groups within a day or two and easy earn around 2k+.

3-4 groups? I can hardly find any Sea Raiders in my game. Once saw a lone band of 10 raiders , lurked around the area for 3 more days but found none
  7. Companion Renown and other Questions

If you make your companion a Lord , will he / she gain renown as they win battles? Do their stats increase automatically? Also , do companions recruit troops from villages belonging to other factions or just the player's?
  8. Guildmaster's Goods listing

    original 说:
No, the numbers you see are actually the "Index" of the items. If the number is higher than 1000, it means that there is a shortage of that item. A higher number means the shortage is more severe.

Goods are expensive when they are in short supply, so shortages of goods (ie, high prices) produce a "hardship index." Low prices, however, do not provide a similar benefit, so you want your centers to have price indices for goods of around 1000 or less. (These are the numbers which you see when you speak to the guildmaster).

    Ah, thanks for the clarification.
  9. Guildmaster's Goods listing

When you visit a Guildmaster , he tells you the no. of goods that the city needs. Now, I'd like to know if this number represents how much is available in stock or how much more is needed?
  10. Nords need a buff.

Observation : Human Nord can open a can of whoop-ass on any Cavalry (just stick the troops together). Human Cavalry can open same can on AI Nords.

Analysis : Nords (Huscarls in particular) are technically strong against Cavalry if used right.

Solution : Make the AI infantry cluster more against Cavalry.

Statement : HK-47 should be included in that Star Wars mod for M&B.
  11. [BUG] 1.111 Campaign AI option resets after restarting the game.

Wasn't 1.111 supposed to fix those clumping issues?
  12. Merchants of Calradia Unite! Trade Routes Thread

What about Hides? I haven't found a good price for them. They all seem to have a price of around 100 denars in every town.
  13. Nords need a buff.

    Castaras 说:
    You forgot the "other" option.

Nord troops themselves don't need a buff, the AI in its handling of troops do.

Agreed , same goes for Rhodoks too. As long as the Spearmen stay together, that shield wall is hard to break through. Too bad the AI sends them all out on suicide attacks.
  14. Easiest Faction to Fight Against ?

I've played as the Sarranids; my army consists mainly of cavalry and here are my observations :

Versus Khergits - No contest , the Sarranid mamelukes are too powerful for the Khergits. The Khergits lightly armored horses do them no good.

Versus Rhodoks - Again , overkill. Mamelukes own the Rhodoks , but the Rhodok Sergeants can be deadly when clumped together.

Versus Nords - Horse fodder. Think Rhodok but with smaller shields.

Haven't gone head to head with Swadian Knights though , also no skirmishes against Vaegirs yet. Then again , most people here agree that the Mamelukes are way too overpowered.
  15. Relatively New to M&B. Warband vs Original+Native

    Josef_the_Pretender 说:
AI wasn't changed from Native at all, I'm afraid, and as far as I know it is something that has been largely ignored by the modding community (I may be wrong).
Warband AI (while sieging) is a huge step up from M&B original - in M&B the Lords break off their siege and chase if even a couple of farmers pass them by - so from that point of view I couldn't recommed that you buy the original M&B.

However, if you can get past the AI, obviously there are a lot of mods that are pretty well rounded in other aspects, and if you can pick up M&B cheap, why not get it?

Well in Warband , I noticed something interesting during a Siege. I managed to convince 5 lords (around 560 troops overall) to go siege a castle (104 garrisoned troops). As expected, they totally ignored any bandit parties and continued the siege. The attack  hadn't begun though , they were still camping outside.

After a day and a half, all of them suddenly packed up and left. I spoke to one of the Lords and he said he was heading home to fill up on troops. But they hadn't even started the assault , why the sudden urge to chicken out? -_-

Least the Lords in M&B 1 usually came back to finish the siege.
  16. So the sultan gave me a castle...

The troop wages for garrisons are bugged. It's supposed to reduce them by half , but nothing happens.
  17. [BUG] Prison Break Bug (1.105)

Another bug to add. Rindyar castle's prison breaking is still bugged. You can't enter the dungeon after killing the Prison Guard. Haven't experienced this problem with other castles yet. Some users already reported this for the previous version.

  18. SWORD OF DAMOCLES - GOLD - V4.5 BETA DOWNLOAD

Well, this mod certainly looks interesting , but the random crashes during battles are quite annoying. Any way to stop them from happening or do I have to wait for the next bugfix?

EDIT : Just read the poll. So, what's the recommended battlesize for it to avoid crashing? I usually play with 100.
  19. [BUGS] Weird ones

    nempozpag 说:
. My relationship instantly dipped from 43 to -40, presumably because I owned land in their name and was no longer alleged for a moment, then back up to 12... A net loss of 31 points. This wouldn't be a huge problem but I lost a companion when it told me I had started my own empire (WHAT!) and after i set her as a lord. After this I am also no longer the King's choice to take Rivacheg.

Yeah , I got the relationship dip too. It changed for all the factions in my case. Odd bug , I hope some of the devs look at this thread soon.
  20. Knight's vs Infantry/archers

I suggest that you take a look at the "Spear Brace" feature in the Native Expansion mod.

When your spearmen are ordered to hold position , they hold their spears in "Brace" , which does like 200x damage to any horse unlucky to charge into it. Yes, this is a Spear Wall that's the bane of any cavalry. You can brace too , but you need to be standing still. Why don't you implement this feature? Rhodoks would be great at bracing , and they are in the NE mod. They can destroy any Swadian cavalry charge.
