Correct, you didn't say that, however thats how sarcasm works, you say one thing and mean another. Perhaps thats just the way you communicate.
Anyhoo, it may not be a worthwhile project for you but is that any good reason to make others think that its not worthwhile at all.
It isn't something you would use once, it is a tool that would be used when ever you want to make tweaks to the game. Even cutting and pasting 5 or 6 of these tweaks takes a fair amount of time, and a tool would help avoid text errors.

Oh and watch those "leet" comments lest we start to think that is how you see yourself ( In fact thats exactly what came to mind). Frankly, it doesn't matter if you could prog a script to end world hunger, its just a game.

Sorry if I come off a bit harsh but just in your last 2 posts in this thread you really come off as a negative nelly and I just don't see how thats productive at all.

But if they could combine it all and give you the option of turning on which tweaks you want and dont that be pretty sweet.
Yeah, you should totally write this mode and become famous
It's straighforward. Just 80-ish global variables, 80-ish conditions in different places of module system + a huge menu to choose options from.
So are you trying to suggest that this would be harder than a complete mod, custom graphics and all? I'm pretty sure that someone who codes in Python can handle this ( not me of course, I haven't messed with code since DOS). I'm not saying it would be an one evening project but definantly do-able. It would probably work best as an external script. Assemble an indexed library of the tweaks in text form coupled with a search/replace editor and an interface that offers the variables. Come to think of it it could be a web-based tool even!
This would be a perfect project for someone looking for a less ambitious mod task or has no desire to mess with graphics or Python logic.
The work is already done, just needs someone to tie it all together.
You young guys should be able to figure it out, you've had computer in your lives a lot longer than I have lol!

[1.003] Claimant gave newly conquered city to the old king!

Ah but you can win! The kings will eventually begin patrols. Attack one of the kings on patrol and you will be able to beseige the town. I had the same thing happen. The town now belongs to the "commoners". They don't show as a faction but if you attack they sure act like one.

    Bugs: As I play

After reading your post I began to recognize an issue that reminded me of something I experienced. I have an older PC with only 512mb of ram. I tried exchanging the ram for some ram that wasnt completely compatible with my system. It ran fine except in M&B. I had a lot of the same things happen along with graphical errors on both the world map and the battlefield with things like shading and trees. Once I swappped the ram back, The game ran fine. Anyway, what i'm suggesting is that you might be having some memory issues either with ram or your hard disk.

This should be a feature not a bug!!

Ok so I'm playing 1.003 in native with a few economic tweaks from magelord. I start a fresh game with cheats on so I can zip around the map. I decided my game theme would be to do all the claimant quests then take the map as a rebel. At the end of the vaeger claimant quest which was the first...

    Infantry vs. Mounted Combat

Take a look around you at the rest of your team, spearmen have a secondary weapon for CQC. What you are experiencing is simply reality. I use a Bo staff (6ft) in martial arts and obviously if you have allowed the enemy to close within half the length, your tactics have to change. My Sensei always says " you have six feet of attack range, use it!". In the game your only real options when your opponent is right close, is bash if your pike or spear has that or go to a sword, axe or mace. Watch your AI units, if their opponent gets too close, they back up when using spears or they go to their secondary weapon.
My characture in the game mirrors my training in real life, I have tools for most scenarios. My battlefield loadout consists of a Bardiche(axe), A balanced heavy lance(spear), a strong bow and a large bag of kergit or Bodkin arrows. Of course I'm mounted when I start out, but if my opponent isn't sporting too many mounted units, I usually like to dismount my team and get down and dirty with them. For sieges, I lose the lance and go with a second quiver of arrows. In the game as with RL, focusing too heavy on one skill or weapon is a liability. At level thirty I'm sitting at 5 skill points for strike, draw, riding and athletics and the rest of the skills that are relevant like leadership stuff have what ever was left over. Shield is at zero as I have one but dont use it anyway, I used to use it in sieges before I got decent at archery.

Bottom line is this, you want to be a spearman? Great but that doesnt mean that should be the only weapon you have or be good at. Start attending the tournaments, you'll develop your proficiencies in different weapons and make decent coin while doing so(assuming you bet on yourself and win).

SO note a number of '5's in there, which i know to be the current % that the trade skill helps by, but i am unsure if i should simply start hacking away at the files to see if it works. I really dont want to mess stuff up too much...
So umm what exactly do i change? All of them? (perhaps one is a buy and one is a sale number per level?)
It should be noted that this is actually in Scripts.txt and not strings as mentioned above.

    Oldasdirt,
Technically, if you're holding the claimant hostage and ruling in his stead, wouldn't he get mad at you? It makes sense to me! But if you want to drop the negative relations you can easily do it altogether. Go into conversation.txt and search for
    2107 2 1224979098644774919 -1
This is where it turns the relation hit to a negative, just change -1 to 0 to simply negate the relation hit.
Thanks, thats great. Now we can own the map and reward the loyal

    Sorkenlol,
I wouldn't know how to change in-battle behavior. Changing their behavior is definitely possible, as Chel did with the battle morale mod, I'm just not sure if you could edit the way they target things.

In my experience they seem to target the closest person to them and then focus on them, so if you're out front of a charge they'll all target you and keep firing even if you move back, but if you hang back at first and then step forward they usually don't focus on you. You can also usually step back where they can't see you for a bit and they'll stop focusing on you.

I never really get targeted unless I'm running ahead. Maybe you're just really ugly, and they can't resist putting you out of your misery?

Well it can't be that they fire on close targets, earlier during a siege as soon as I went up the ladder (my men were already fighting on the walls) 3 archers that stood far away on the other side of the castle walls changed target from my men to me, all of them. As soon as I stepped aside so that the wall covered me, they chagned back to my men (which were much closer) and then I stepped back to the open, and they changed target to me again. So it must be that they prioritise killing you, which I'd like to change.
The behavior I have noticed is that they target whomever is closest to them or whomever is the biggest threat(ie:shooting at them). I never carry Bow and arrows so I'm never drawing their attention until I lead the charge up the ramp. Even in map battles on foot, unless im the closest or attacking someone, they tend to chase or attack others, so much so I have to chase them down to get kills. Perhaps you need to look at how you fight and the attack strategies you employ.

Hi There, Great job with the tweeks folks! Does anyone have a clues as to how to tweek the relation hits delivered when you award fiefs to yourself when you are running around with a claimant? If we could have it so that there is no relation hit with the claimant we would essentially rule by proxy as we would have the ability to recruit and maintain lords, hand out fiefs, etc. The only thing missing is calling for war! It would be close enough for me and even a little bit historically accurate. You would essentially hold the claimant hostage to legitimize your Kingdom.

    Sneaking into Nordville

The ninja into town minigame is good fun - I dive into hostile towns all the time cause the guards can never stop me.

Adds a little challenge to fight while wearing undercover gear, they still get whooped if you focus.

Also remember that all damage you receive during the fight is undone after you successfully infiltrate.

I second that. Never been defeated sneaking into town. Was whooped once by assasins though, the spawn for some axe weilding baddies happened almost on top of me and behind me. it was weird but its only happened once. If you can beat them with a stick, perhaps more time at the trainer would help

hmm.. theres no delay for the victory cheers from troops tho, why would they need it for the win message?
anyway, not a big deal and thanks for looking in to it

Actually I think that I've had troops start cheering before the end of a battle, so the extra delay might be an effective precaution.

It does bug me too though.
yeah it bugs me greatly too. I noticed the delay is worse in the latest version. I suspect the delay is from the game taking stock of who's dead and whos not and all the calcs that go along with it. In other games I play where calcs are made regarding variable or changing criteria, they slow down cosiderably when those calcs are modified from original. Just something that we will have to wait for TW to fix I think.

Compilation of 82 little tweaks to the text files to change your gameplay(links)

This is my first post on this forum so If I make a faux pa, please forgive me
I have been following and implementing a few of the changes found here and I wish there was somewhere I could get the info to begin understanding how to make these types of tweaks my self. I'm playing the latest version as a rebel state and some things I would really like to be able to do is:
    1. Recruit Lords to my faction AND assign to them fiefs, essetially become a true ruler. I was thinking this could be done somehow through the claimant scripts, just without the claimant or even better become a claimant myself. It just is less satisfying owning half the world by myself, but it's even worse haveing a claimant demand I divy up property I owned prior to taking up his cause.
    2. I would like it if Lords( including myself) stand a chance of actually dieing in battle. I think that even a 5 or 10% chance of that would vastly change the game.
    and third,
I want to be able to get rid of lords that belong to defeated factions that are cluttering up my prisons or even better tie it in with idea #1 and recruit them. At the very least I would like to be able to release them so they can join factions. What would be really cool would be to talk to them in the prison and have them challenge me to a duel in the arena. If they win they go free, if they lose..... well this is a medieval rpg right?

Kudos to those who have the knowledge for creating these tweaks, the list is growing rapidly making a great game even better. To you I raise my chalis in salute.

    Tax Collector

Ok so I like the idea of a tax collector, it's realistic and a historical fact. Frankly, the Lord of a Fief would rarely stoop to such a task. The lord would simply assign this task to a captain and it would involve a armed detail simular to the caravans we see wandering from town to town. Having said that, there were and should be risks to letting someone else gather your booty.
    Including but not limited to:
    1. The collector running off with your money.
    2. Your Collector being raided by a larger force of raiders or bandits or even your enemies.
    3. Your Fiefs may not want to pay and revolt, requiring a personal visit to restore order.

Tax collecting is a vastly boring job in this game and really drags down moral, it has to be fixed, by that I mean delagated as a real fief holder would.
It could be implemented several ways but lets get it done please. I'm way to busy fighting to be bothered, as it should be.
