Why don't Book Merchants EVER Restock or Purge sold items................????

People here seem to be forgetting that when you lose a fight, you lose some items, and books aren't exempt. Isn't it possible to make a book permanently unavailable this way? I don't think that's a good thing.

Mount and Blade hotseat game (multiplayer)

Perhaps you should post a blog of the updates players make to the save, so we don't have to sift through the unrelated posts to read of our hero's exploits. That, or post links to the relevant posts in the first post.

I've enjoyed reading the game so far!

Permanent wound system still affects you, even if you just surrender!

If you're think the penalty was unjust (and I would agree), it's pretty trivial to edit your character's strength back up to where it was. But yeah, surrendering shouldn't strip you of hard-earned atribute points.

    Retreating: When is it smart?

    The Mercenary 说:
    Yeah. And we WON.

What were the circumstances? How many of what kinds of troops did you each have, and where was the fight? Sounds like a fun story.

I can solo 50 or so infantry or mounted melee with mounted archery, but through enemy archers in the mix and I start pressing ctrl-h.

    Retreating: When is it smart?

I don't like to retreat - I'll spam control-h 'till my foes lie slain, if that's what it takes, which means I occasionally have to solo large parties of enemies with my magical cheating fingers. Obviously, were I not to be cheating, it would be better to retreat from a battle than to lose it or...

Oooh "Personal Belongings" lol, I always thought it sounded like "My men would like a word with you about your purse.. and belongings.."

It's more like "purse-onal" belongings, like the pun is intentional.

Compilation of 82 little tweaks to the text files to change your gameplay(links)

TheMageLord, how much control could you have over the Persuasion skill? Is it possible to make the skill points spent in it more useful, or could we at least see how its results are calculated for debt/rebellion/desertion checks?

    Perusasion

Oh, persuasion. Frankly, I wish that the following had been done to it:

    - Reduce the randomization. If I put 8 ranks into the skill, I shouldn't get a "-200" result every third time I try to persuade.
    - Make it Charisma based - there are few enough skills there anyway as it is.
    - Allow it to apply to more situations, like the talking your way out of a fight or robbery.

In my first 1.03 character I tried leveling Persuasion, only to be disappointed again. Oh well. At least my new character's a badass.

    Shields

I know that with shields, like any equipment, there is no "best" item. However, what is each good type good for? Which shields would you suggest for which play styles? Shields these days are the one type of item I find I  have trouble discerning for purchasing purposes these days, and want your...

    Rumors in Villages

That's unfortunate, that it randomizes. At the very least the game could let you store that sort of information in your encyclopedia - a resource I'm afraid is very underused. I might want to make a post about suggestions for improving it.

Do we know the effects of these rumors? Like which ones reward saving fellow lords, whether this influences which quests they give, or their original disposition towards you?

    Enemy stuck out of reach...

I actually recently spawned outside the arena. I have a screenshot, but don't know where best to host it. It was annoying - and in vengeance I Ctrl-F4'd all my foes to powder.

How to avoid the penalty of the Killing the Criminal quest

You know those quests lords give you, asking you to kill the "Nervous Man" in villages? You know how when you kill him, the town likes you less? Well, if you tab out of the village before it says that your relationship with it has deteriorated, the game doesn't hurt your relationship score, and...

    Garrisons

What proportions and numbers of troops do you suggest? I find it a little difficult to estimate how many I can support and summarily bid conservatively, ending up with boats of cash. In .951 I had 100,000 denars before I bombed my save for .952.

EDIT: Oh my, I seemed to have off-by-one'd the version numbers. My apologies, and it is now fixed.

My Nordic rebellion is similarly filled with conflict from all sorts of factions. The challenges really come when you fight a bunch of lords who are all together - very challenging indeed.

    On Party skills and "bonuses"

So, I was reading the now-obsolete "Party Skills and You" thread, and was wondering about the role of the "bonuses" party skills provide. I am going to provide a few examples where the mechanics of the game's scheme will matter, and request that someone who knows more about this than me assist...

    Garrisons

Whenever I own a castle, I am struck by paralysis by analysis concerning whom I should garrison within its walls. I am currently playing as a Nord rebel, and have a force consisting of Nords, Vaegir archers, and a few recently acquired Khergit veteran horse archers. Who should I "leave behind"...

    On asking for quests

Thing is, I have 100,000 denars, around 600 renown, and plenty of villages like me. While I recently started a one-man war against the Nords, I'd have really liked it if the other Vaegir lords would assist me - if I could find a way to make war against my chosen foe. However, none are, so taking places like cities is momentarily out of the question - what with my foes possessing forces in the thousands bottled up in their coastal harbor-fortresses. With the rest of my allies at my side, I could start, you know, getting somewhere.

Note that this is not to say that this is a bad game. I love it, and clock in hours every day. But it seems an unfortunate number of those hours are spent looking for a challenge, not participating in one.

    On asking for quests

    GhostHawk 说:
At others you get 1 or 2 then need to wait a week or 2.  Its all part of the game.

I disagree. I think if "waiting for a goal to show up" is part of this game, then this isn't the game I thought it was. If I as a player am actively seeking a goal from the game, what business does it have saying "no"? It's distinctly possible that some lord needs messages sent across the land while also needing a debt payed and his fief disciplined. What's more annoying to me at this point is the face that I can't seem to find any Vaegir warmongers, who had been common enough near the beginning when I wasn't confident to wage war yet.

Also, it's not just me asking one lord for quests - it's the fact that none of my fellow vassals are giving me quests, except for the very occasional letter delivery one.

Can anyone defend why waiting a week or two should be part of the game?

    On asking for quests

Is there any reason why we should ever not get a quest when we ask for one? If I'm asking the game to give me a short term goal, I don't want it to say "Nah. I don't need for you to quest right now," and yet, this response spews from NPCs about three quarters of the time I ask to do something. I...
