  1. Stereotypes associated with factions

Nord - Nord players write Nords as the best faction.
Swadian - Swadian players write Swadians as the best faction.
Rhodok - Rhodok players write Rhodoks as the best faction.
Khergit - Khergit players write Khergits as the best faction.
Vaegir - Vaegirs don't need to pretend.
  2. Your Army

Vaegir Marksmen, Khergit Horse Archers, and Vaegir Knights.

In Native Expansion, Vaegir Ivory Archers, Swadian Blademasters, Khergit Lesser Khans, and Vaegir Kataphraktoi (WOOO!)

I have ~150 of each in my castle, I take out varying numbers as I need 'em.
  3. Why does everyone whine so much about Cattle?

It's not really a hard quest. They run from you, so make a wide zig-zag to make them slowly run in a straight line towards the village. Now if the receiving village is by a river, that's absolutely HELLISH to get them there. But otherwise, it's really not that hard.
  4. Most annoying quest??

Errand quests as a whole just piss me off. But the most annoying is usually "LEVEL UP X (0-tier troops) INTO X (Top-tier troops) THEN GIVE THEM TO ME."

    just because it's inconvenient.
  5. 1000+ things I learned from Mount And Blade

    82) Soldiers were not hired to fight, they were hired to push their commander off of ladders during sieges.
  6. Will this PC i am building run mount and blade good?

8800GT overheats like a *****, but works fine and is cost-effective. Just turn its fan on max before playing a game.

Quadcore isn't neccesary for gaming. I'd reccomend a powerful dualcore over a mediocre quad. (3.6 GHZ Dualcore = sublime)

The HDD could be upgraded too.

That PC'll run Mount&Blade perfectly, but I'd hold out for a little higher specs, just a bit.

  7. 1000+ things I learned from Mount And Blade

    35) If your horse gets eviscerated, you'll fall to the ground, skid for 15 feet, but not take any damage.
    36) It's impossible to knock a weapon out of someone's hands, no matter how fast you're going, whether you have a greatsword or they have a club.
    37) Noone ever killed commanders or leaders in the battlefield.
3:cool: Soldiers can survive on just a diet of butter if needed.
  8. What do you Hate the Most about M&B

    Chaosye 说:
I hate how most of the time, right after I got buttraped by some lord with 500 people, and as I start rebuilding my army, suddenly this huge group of bandits come along, normally sea raiders, and are like,"HEY CAN I HAVE SOME SKULL JUICE KTHXBYE"
    IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.

    Along that vein.

Sometimes I garrison my entire army in my castle and pick up a bunch of lowbie units to level to new top-tier units, without having the stronger ones leech XP. So as I'm running around with an army of 80 Vaegir and Swadian Recruits, suddenly, I get a notice that my castle is under attack. I rush back to see ~6-7 war parties camping around outside of it, my valuable troops inside, and myself unable to touch them.

usually i'm too slow to outrun them and get in, too, since recruits are lazy and slow

    grrrrrr
  9. in youre opinion , whats the best unit

    Ludial 说:
most killy infantry - Rhodok sergeants; there's simply nothing that can compare to them, NOTHING! Huscarls are whiny babies compared to them.
most killy cavalry - Vaegir knights; with those two-handed axes of theirs they're even killier as the sergeants with their glaives.
most killy ranged units - Vaegir marksmen(excellent archers, often armed with voulges ) and Rhodok sharpshooters(exclusively metal armor, door shields, very killy)

Sergeants are annoying, not good. Try going up against a Huscarl on foot with 100% difficulty on. Sergeants are strong, but not the best.
Vaegir knights are good, but Swadian knights are great. Swadians are aaarguably better.
Marksmen = debatable. I like Marksmen more than Sharpshooters, but alot of people disagree. Do what works best.
  10. If your army could only consist of one type of troop, what would it be?

100 Ivory Archers in Native Expansion. Top Tier Vaegir Archers in Native.

Slow as ****, ugly, and relatively easy to chop down 1v1, but my god are they effective en masse.
  11. Most feared unit?

    Zilberfrid 说:
How does everyone think rhodoks pussies and fear their troops at the same time?

It's because they're annoying, not good.

Rhodoks either cripple your horse from a mile away, or one-shot you before the fight even starts. But it's next to impossible to play as the Rhodoks effectively, so they're twice as annoying.
  12. What do you Hate the Most about M&B

    "Everyone, hold position!"
"FUUUCK YOU COMMANDER I'M CHARGING HEADFIRST INTO A ROW OF RHODOK SPEARMEN NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU PRESS THAT BUTTON WOOOOOO-"
Jeremus has been knocked unconscious by Rhodok Sergeant.
  13. Leadership style.

Depends on my enemies and my troops.

If I have all cavalry, 99% of the time I give the order to charge, while I run off to the side and hit them from the left or right, just to make breaking their 'wall' easier. Alternatively, I hack up the back end of their busy archers.

Against Khergits or pure Cavalry, I hold position, and while my men prepare for the charge, I run off to the side, then charge in from behind and kill a few horses. Once the first charge is 'repelled', i give the order to charge, occasionally making my men regroup.

With archers or infantry, I always do a slow march forwards with them.
  14. If you could have one hero, who would it be?

Jeremus is always the first character I get or try to get.

He's -the- best ally you can have, just to guarantee you won't ever invest dummy points in those stats that could be put elsewhere.
  15. Most feared unit?

Sharpshooters, just because it seems like they're the most prone to get a pure luck headshot on you after the battle's been almost completely won.
  16. Most Tempting Targets

Large groups of Sea Raiders. Just move my low-tier troops up to the top, keep a few top-tier cavalry in, and absolutely butcher them. Easy XP, free upgrades, easy morale, and ridiculously quick battles.
  17. Bloody four-legged mammals!

    Tyronomicon 说:
As battles get bigger and parties gather more experience, I am more and more frustrated by cavalry. I love how horses and horse warfare are made in the game, but somehow cavalry destroys all my plans.
    - How do I lead a battle against enemy cavalry? My computer is old school and it doesn't support too many troops at the same time, and somehow all cav. vs. cav. encounter become a fuzzy skirmish without any tactics and which I always lose. What tactics can I use with a mostly footmen troop against mounted enemies?
    - Horse archery: Khergits are great at it, but I suck, no matter what my stats are. I always shoot around, never inflicting any damage, until axe-wielding knights knock me unconscious.
    - Horses are expensive, I cannot afford good ones for my party at the moment, and they are never found as loot after a fight.

Moreover, I like characters, but is it better to hire mercenaries or recruits, rather than having many characters in your party?

-With footmen, if you have any spearusers in your army, order your whole army to hold position, order the infantry to follow you ahead, hold position again (To cluster them) and then just wait for the enemy to charge. After they do, then send in your cavalry.
-You have to pay an absurd amount to be remotely accurate on horseback, so just grab a melee weapon and level up using that on horseback, and do your archery on foot, until you're really levelled.
-Not much you can do about that. Trade until you get yourself a good horse, then just get decent ones for your buddies.
-Recruits are better than mercenaries, but mercs are far easier. Recruits level up into great units relatively quickly, cost next to nothing to use, and offer much more diversity. Mercs just start at a higher level, and cost FAR more.
  18. Best/Worst top-tier units in the game

    screwtape 说:
People always go on about how wonderful Swadian knights are, but I've never seen them a) do much damage b) last long on the battlefield.

The biggest problem with M&B is this. To notice how effective a unit is, it has to make up (somewhere around) 60% or more of your army, otherwise it won't get enough support or numbers to truly work its magic, and usually gets sniped out or trapped at the start of a battle.

I prefer Vaegir knights, myself, but Swadians are absolute beasts.
  19. Question Regarding Troop Order

I'm a little bit new to this game, so any help would be appreciated. (I'm playing Native Expansion) I'm still powerlevelling high-tier troops with enough coin to last me a few months. However, I'm starting to get around the 40 region for both Elite Kataphraktoi and Ivory Archers, and I intend...
