  1. Skill Leveling Question

The general concept itself is actually pretty logical. The problems are twofolds :

    1) The penalty is too steep. That's just the usual hard-on TW has with exponential increase, that they should really throw out. Exponential are **** for games.

    2) The penalty ALREADY EXISTS in each skill, so adding it to level is not required.

That's the issue though, slowing down the rate of learning is fine if you need the self-same 100 XP per level, but the issue is that not only do you need more XP (needing more leveling actions per level) you also produce less XP per leveling action (needing more leveling actions per level), which as you said, leads to a massive exponential curve.

Now, this isn't per se the correct numbers, because I just kinda spitballed them, but the curve is correct in its execution, if not the specifics.
  2. Skill Leveling Question

Hahaha, your answers are short, to the point and succinct (which I guess means both those other things?).

If this is the case then god damn. That seems ludicrous.
I agree. Slowing down the rate of learning as you level up is awful. The game already feels like you level up super fast in the early game and run into a massive wall before any amount of valuable skills are learned. Even hours and hours into the game, I feel like I haven't yet made meaningful choices because I've learned a lot of skills, which come to find out, is screwing me over.
  3. Slow fief gains

Others can answer better than I, but a first priority is to be the vassal with holdings closest to the newly-acquired fief. If you're out, conquering places closer to other lords' holdings, they will be favored.

You pretty much get zero recognition for being the rainmaker of the kingdom. And there doesn't seem to be any weighting (as far as I can tell) regarding how many fiefs you already own. What I mean is - you're not in a socialist country and rewards won't be distributed equally.

Once I learned this, I began a new run-through and targeted fiefs based on their nearness to my own holdings. I got 6 cities plus a handful of castles before I told Unqid, "Good-bye. I'm off to start my own kingdom and then come back and take these places again."

PS - I made the Aseris too powerful before I left them. They're holding off the Khusaits and whomping everyone else.

I've been conquering the cities and castles that are very near to me in addition to ones far away. At this point, nothing is close to me because I've conquered everything close to Zeonica.

I guess I'm still just used to Warband where leading the charge gets you a lot of reward. Here, I'm actively disincentived from conquering because I don't get anything.
  4. Slow fief gains

I'm playing with the Southern Empire, we own a respectable amount of land, 25-30% of the landmass. It's been about 13 years in game and I've only got the same castle and town I got when I first signed up with the SE during the first in-game year. I'm not sure what's going on to stall the gain of...
