    Telekom Internetmonopol?!

We're still trying to figure what penalties there should be. I think making it so that the player has to take it off after 20 seconds will be too annoying. My idea for penalties is this,

-Reduced visibility, because of the mask itself
-Weaker melee, because of less oxygen
-Less agility, because of less oxygen

That should be enough for the player to keep the mask off when it's not needed.

if its any easier you could just make melee slower in gas masks, as people are breathing in less oxygen.
Also what chance does the poison have to kill you if you have a mask? xD
Well, gasmasks were surposed to prevent you from the gas but it sometimes still got in,
    But back to the penalties,
    I think it should be,

    Reduced visibility
    Less agility
Slower melee and maybe it limits the view so much that you can see "some" attacks?

    I think sounds good.

I don't know, but i think sprinting is for a trench war a important thing. And the possibility to switch your movement is interesting.

We have a lot of other good ideas i think, so player with a gas mask can't run very fast, can't shoot accurate and has a limited vision.

Actually a gasmask hindered peoples breathing so much that they would pass out from lack of oxygeon. So I say that after 15-20 seconds it should start hurting you.

I think this is not practi for the gameplay.

Purely out of interest, how do you intend to stop players from simply toggling their gas mask on and leaving it on, that way completely nulifying the use of poison gas?

You can't breathe with a gasmask on, so you'll start losing health after 15-20 seconds. We might also add an overlay severely limiting vision.

Do gasmasks really stop you from breathing? I can understand limiting your breathing, but if you can't breathe at all, doesn't that ruin the point of the gasmask?
It dosnt fully stop you from breathing but it can limit your breathing and your vision will also be limited

I think a player with a gas mask can't run so fast  and can't see so good.

Oh, another thing. The majority of regiments did NOT use Stahlhelms! Field caps and pickelhaubes were the most common headgear at the time - Bavaria tended to use field caps, while Prussia used pickelhaubes, mainly. I'd suggest using a mix of all three, with different infantry regiments for each - i.e. Napoleonic Wars with KGL uniforms and regular line infantry uniforms.

At the start of the war, (1914-1915) yes. But after that, certainly not.

I wrote that in a hurry. Though I'd say pickelhaubes and field caps were used up to at least January of 1917. I'm picky. Very picky.  :???:

1916 was the last "big" year of the Pickelhaube, later used the most of the German army Stahlhelme.
