Maybe, you should check out the Module System of Mercenaries and see how HomerJay accomplished that. Even, i am about to understand how Module System can be linked to a FTP server.

I was hoping to view the cRPG source but that was taken down; I was unaware the Module System source for Mercenaries was available - I shall check it out with great interest. Thank you!

    EDIT
Having some trouble finding it; any links?

Found it, for anyone else wondering it is - here

Now I just need to work out how this information is stored in the MySQL database. Mmm.

    A bit of help required.

This is a completely unrelated issue, but to save creating another topic - does anyone have a clue why this may be occurring in game? I'm playing a my own module but havn't altered the arrow texture files at all -

Look at the bottom of the troops file and remove the upgrades too.
Note that it isn't wise to remove troops before adding your own. Add your troops first, you can always remove unneeded troops later - it doesn't hurt if they remain in the troops file and are not used.

Ah, thank you. Yes, I have added my own units in; just the native ones remain.

    A bit of help required.

Hello all, I am currently working on a module and I wish to remove all of the native troops; I have gone through each .py file in the module system, and at least so I thought, removed all reference to the troop. However when I compile the mod I recieve this error: Error with upgrade def: Unable...

Just a sidenote - while its good that you know python, mb/wb 's module system isnt written in python but its own specific language. Python is only used to compile it. Should be easy to get into things though, since you have programming experience. See Lumos tutorial in the forge to get started.

I understand that, I am just saying that considering I had some familiarity with python previously, it would be easier to get familiar with the Warband Module System.

Exactly, if you as the OP/Head Modder can tell us what you can do more people would be more likely to put their backs to the work and contribute more.

Forgive me, I was in a rush to create the post. I will update it shortly with additional details.

Although I am new to Warband scripting, I have learnt fast and have previous experience with python. As for directing skills, I currently run my own e-commerce business.

    [Help] Creating a persistent server.

Okie-Dokey. Sorry to be back and bother you guys, but I've done my research on MySQL and HTTP Requests - and hit a brick wall.
How do I form the SQL Databse (eg which functions to use) also, how do I link this with the game_receive_url and send_message_url commands to create persistent gold, and stats.

Thanks for reading and any help is greatly needed and appreciated,

OK, thank you for the quick reply and I'll get stuck in.

    [Help] Creating a persistent server.

Anymore help to be given with this? I am somewhat new to scripting; I have my own website, control panel and the necessary tools - I just lack to knowledge on where to start, what language to use, how to even begin linking the data and making the module persistent. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is what you want. I've made the symposium twice, and I don't like to repeat myself:

Apart from that, maybe you can use FastCGI, or hipster stuff like NodeJS or Python instead of PHP + MySQL/....
But that depends on you.

Thanks a lot for the link, I understand the theory, and how it should work. I'm just not sure where to start in terms of storing & sending the data values.
A few examples of what I want to do -
    • The players inventory to be saved. And their character to be seperate from the 'troop' selection pre-sets such as in games like cRPG and PW.
    • The player will purchase said items, in addition the players log-on/log-off positions to be saved.

Like I said, any advice on this would help a ton.

Is this all I need to do?(modding checklist)

Just doing that, correctly, would create a running mod - although you might want to add banners to the list, if you want to add that extra little touch of icing

I imagine you will want to take a look at MySQL databases and name servers. I don't much about this topic but they are places to look.

I see, thanks for the reply all the same. What I'm trying to aim for is at the very least, a game in which the player retains the gold they have earnt, and the 'inventory' they require, so to speak.

Hello guys & girls, I am developing a mod, and I wish to make the game slightly different from the normal 'siege' or 'tdm' and I was wondering, if anyone can point me where to start with any of the following criteria that I am looking to incorporate into my mod: Persistent Server. Gold is...
