The government of Italy would like to express their admiration for the Albanians who are rising up against their Turkish oppressors. You have our full support, and we will assist in guiding you to statehood in any way we can. Albanians should count Italians among friends.

Terms that Italy has in no way upheld. The railway connecting us to Europe remains unfinished. The rebels were brought down before Italian troops even made shore, and an even greater uprising rose in their wake. Despite this, you say that I am the one going back on the deal?...I don't now how you make deals in Europe, but here in the Ottoman Empire, payment is given to a job done, as was agreed to by both sides.

The Italians tried our hardest to uphold our side of the bargain. We invested heavily into the Railroad, as per the agreement, and sent troops to help you put down the rebellion. It is not my fault that you instructed your troops to attack before their Italian allies had arrived (the plan was to wait and attack concurrently), and it was certainly not my fault that you cannot control your army to the point that the mere arrival of allied forces on its shores causes a full scale military mutiny. Because of your lack of control, I lost considerable manpower, money, and industrial resources. In no way did I not uphold my part of the bargain, which fighting off half of the Ottoman army to protect my railroad engineers' lives (which I was not able to do, many of them were brutally murdered by your soldiers) was in no way stipulated.

Now, I would've been fine with helping the Ottomans complete the project, but now large sections of its length are overrun by rebels. I would be more than happy to continue my commitment to the rail once the threat has subsided, but I am not going to continue pouring men and resources into a project that has a substantial chance of complete failure.

Additionally, I echo the sentiment that finds French outrage at intervention quite comical. Where was this caution in Algeria? The Sudan? Senegal? Indochina? Surely their sovereign governments would like a word. Not two years ago were French troops overthrowing African governments for purely their own gain. You do not have a leg to stand on sir.

French troops march across deserts and plateaus to maintain control of their colonial empire.

France continued their colonial ambitions, as French colonial troops marched into Abeche, the capital of the Wadai Empire and a relatively powerful state in western Africa. Although the Wadai forces refuse to surrender and maintain that they will continue to fight against the imperialist troops, most of the territory has already come under administration of the French Equatorial Guinea colonial government.

    Grand news out of Italy!

An agreement has just been signed between King Vittorio Emmanuele and Pope Pius X, ameliorating the dispute between the Kingdom of Italy and the Vatican. Henceforth, the Papal States will exist as a sovereign nation within Rome, under protection of the Kingdom of Italy, with the Holy See as its ruler. Additionally, Catholicism will be established as the official state church of the Kingdom of Italy. No longer is the Bishop of Rome a prisoner within his own city.

All hail Pope Pius X, and long live the new friendship between our two nations!

The Kingdom of Italy would like to shed some light on the problem the Ottoman Turks are facing.

I, in my collaboration and friendship with the Ottoman Empire, was asked to assist in the defeat of the Druze rebels. I sent three divisions overseas to assist the Ottoman military.
When the divisions arrived early in the year, the rebels, being weaker than expected,/ had already been defeated by the Turks. A few generals high up in the Turkish military then used the arrival of European soldiers in their lands (despite the fact that they had been invited for a particular purpose, and left immediately after that goal was accomplished), to incite nationalist and anti-European fervor within the military. They then used this to denounce the Sultan, and are now making a power grab and attempting to overthrow the government.

I for one, don't think it's much of a problem. Especially now that there will be player-driven stuff happening, there will be much more to talk about. On top of that, asking even a major power to make four non-spam posts in the span of two weeks isn't really asking much, in my opinion.

That being said, I would like to know if Italy qualifies as a major or minor. For, err, so I can know how many posts I need to make.

    Awesome, thank you!
One question though, is naval or land strength more important in the military ranking? (Or perhaps we could split the list into two?)

I didn't mean that there was literally things called 'support brigades' or anything like that, only that divisions would have a brigade (or smaller units, obviously I'm generalizing and things varied based on when exactly you're talking about as well as each individual nation) of artillery attached in order to 'support' the infantry.
My main point being that artillery largely existed below the divisional level, and it's therefore silly to make separate divisions for it.

For example, a German infantry division in 1914 had two infantry brigades, an artillery brigade, and a cavalry regiment. (see below)

To clarify a little bit, I talked with eternal briefly after reading his post, as it confused me. I learned that the original plan was to have two types of divisions, essentially "full strength" and "reserve", and then these would be grouped together in the country card and arranged into corps or armies and classified as various things, perhaps an "infantry corps" or "artillery corps".

I told eternal that the division by this point was intended as a largely self-sufficient fighting force, and that the necessary supports were integrated into the division. (artillery support would be of primary importance in the coming war, though other things like recon, engineers and medical support were important as well)
In short, there was no such thing as an "artillery" division, it was just a support brigade within a regular division.

Been away from BoP as well as the community in general for quite some time, largely due to the fact that my first year of college was an incredibly busy one. That being said, this game really piques my interest, WW1 is one of the coolest periods of history for me. So, if you'll excuse my absence and inactivity, I'd love to participate.
