Just use one of the companions for that, it's a party skill. I use to specialize one companion on medical skills and another one on exploration (pathfinding, tracking)

Just follow the tracks and use a small party (only cavalry if you can) to move faster. You won't need a lot of troops to defeat them.

About troop balance, I think  in the previous version orcs were stronger (at least in low-mid tiers comparing to humans) and there was not so much difference in numbers. Probably in the present version the war is more similar to the books, but the problem is that most battles (at least if you play the good guys) are too easy. I'm enjoying very much the mod so far, but I'm afraid battles can become tedious on the long term. This wouldn't be a problem if we all could set 350 troops max in battles, but in battles with 150 or less bad guys can't really take advantage of their numbers.

Orcs could use some more shields (maybe a lot more shields) as archers are killing machines against them right now.  Very low quality shields, so 2 or 3 arrows can destroy them, but at least the orcs would have a chance to reach the enemy.

Anyone else with this problem? Or any ideas of how can I solve this?

I reduced my video options to minimum, but the game still crashes. Once happened in the dialog menu (talking to king Dain) so it shouldn't be any video issues here, it just appeared a blue screen for a second (some lines of text, but I had no time to read them) and the computer rebooted. Next time the game suddenly had no sound in the middle of a battle, when I tried to go back to Windows the game freezed and I had to reboot.

My computer has 3G Ram, and NVidia GeForce 9500 GT video card.

I just don't know what the problem is. Could be the sound card?

Did you also disable ragdolls? TLD has sevaral different skeletons for npcs (MB/WB have a single human one), maybe this freaks out ragdoll physics engine sometimes. Switching ragdolls off definitely helps stability

Most of the times at the beginning of the battle, when I look to a lot of people at once, or there is too many people moving near me. It doesn't matter the trees, I think. It happens a lot in sieges, I have to stay outside and wait for the others to do the fighting.

Orcs seem much weaker than in previous versions. Maybe it's because I'm fighting in the North and the difference between orcs and elves/dwarfs is bigger, but battles are very easy (I'm playing 100% damage and good AI).

By the way, I'm using the enhanced version now, and reduced video to minimum, but the game still crashes in battles sometimes. As YourStepDad said, I never had this problems before in M&B or Warband.

I don't care about the monetary system. What is important is that you can't hire 25 dwarfs or go into their armories and get their best armors just because you have lots of cash, that would be nonsense.

The present system works for what it was intended to.

When the game crashes during battles sometimes I get this message (I'm playing on XP and not using enhanced, don't know why but I can't install it):

RGL error
unable to lock vertex buffer

And after we won a siege on a Gundabad outpost I finished the battle and entered in the pre-battle menu again. I chose the "join the next attack" option thinking there were more enemies, but there were none. We won the battle again after a few seconds and the same menu appeared. I had no problem to get out of there, though, just selected the other option in the menu.

Lower graphics and switch ragdolls off. Dwarves don't have mounts at all - they are dwarves. Except ponies, which will suck balls in battles so better go on foot anyway

Yes, I was looking for ponies but I did't find any, and the war already started. It is much easier to deploy troops when mounted.

Congratulatons, this is a  game on its own. You did a impressive job.

You didn't need to hunt scouting parties at all. Only great armies were important.

I want to play them all. Do corsairs still have pikemen?

So TLD could be announced for next November and be released 3 months ago...

- Multiplayer campaign.
- Different system for troop improvement - No more knight courses for peasants. If it is possible, avoiding the "only top-tier troops" effect, too.
- If the factions included allow it I'd like to see new mounts, as chariots or elephants.

I did. It happened to me after seeing any of the three. They were an awful adaptation, but also badly directed, I tried to give another chance to The Return of the King last saturday and I felt sleep. Somebody should tell PJ that slow motion is fine sometimes: sometimes, not more than 3 hours. And, over all, I really would like to see a LOTR movie that tells the story, not the story adapted for a teenage audience. Like no funny dwarfs, no super-hero elves, time-space coherence (something Tolkien was specially careful about), and above all, avoiding the 10 cliffhanger scenes per hour.
