Here's a little analysis of the artillery in NW compared to what I hope it will be like in BCoF, which I wrote on FSE a while back. I think it does a good job of defending artillery in Warband multiplayer of this scale. (I'll bold the stuff that's relevant.)

In addition, I'd like to state that the cannon system and the way NW itself is played are symbiotic. The reason why the artillery system in NW is so "shallow" or "easy" and very much unlike the historical way artillery was manned is because the general game play in NW is so unlike the way troops actually fought back then, even in the most "historically accurate" events. In history, a gun would be firing at a massive, slow-moving mass of troops in their various formations. The artillery could get off many shots before they were in range of the enemy, and many times the enemy didn't even get that far, destroyed or driven back by friendly lines and/or cav, or the barrage itself.

In NW, when it isn't mindless pubbing, the lines are slender, fast moving, and very versatile. If the cannons in NW were made historically accurate in this context, it would be virtually impossible to get consistent hits.
Though I very much want a historically accurate artillery system, I'm thankful that the devs implemented the current one for NW. However, that gives me even more of a hope and expectation that the hugely more massive scale of Battle Cry of Freedom will warrant a more historical and intensive artillery system.

Of course, L'Aigle will not be NW, but the general rules still apply. Artillery in this context will not be, if done correctly, game-changing devices that will turn the tide to whichever team has it in an instant. It would still be hard to use, but add a separate interest to the game.
    +1

If you want to do blunt damage, the two side swings with the butt cause it.

Does that mean that insted of a swing we can hit the enemy with the butt of the musket  :?: :?: :?:

    #GENERAL INFO#, Old Mod Thread

Nice mod . Clear ideas and straight foward. Just an advice, don't do multiplayer or plan doing multiplayer at this point. Try to stable the mod, release it and based on the players opinions make it multiplayer or wait untill this mod is about 75% done
