just saw a Northern Steppe Bandit up on a tree.  probably a one-time occurence, has anyone seen anything like that before? i didn't see him at first, just that my guys had swarmed under a tree and were getting off their horses for some reason. i went there and saw arrows flying down from the tree, then looked up and saw the poor bastard up there all ninja-style, shooting at my "don't use ranged weapons" guys. i air-mailed an arrow to get him down and thankfully it did. wow  (BoW X)

I don't know if this is BOWx mod specific or is also presented in native.
When I help some lord fighting bandits or raiders, the dialog with him after battle is not what it is supposed to be. Instead he asks "What do you want?" and I have 2 options -to  attack or "I leave you to you dirty job!" Obviously a bandit dialog is activated for some reason.

Yeah, this has been noted for BoW X and has been fixed for the next release.

i've noticed that in plain BoW, so you might wanna check there too.

It will really be a pain if I end up being a lord to these...  :???:

is it possible to be a registry problem with multiple M&Bs? i recall installing 808 after 903 and only the 808 was in the registry along with its path. i also remember M&Bx install looking for a native file in the wrong place (i.e. where the old version was installed) but i had deleted it manually (yet the registry remained) and so the install exited. maybe if the older version file is there and the installation proceeds, the whole thing gets corrupted on install? same thing happened when i installed another mod: "your current version is .808, Mod made for .903, continue anyway?" . so i changed the registry to the current version and file path and after that everything worked smothly.

i'm not really familiar with that stuff, so if i'm far off, don't laugh

"White Whales" - Super rare non-legendaries you HAD to find (BoW Ex)

    Corvus 说:
i think the bigger the party you face, the more chance of getting one. So fighting against a 90 man eastern invader party as a 20 man lvl 9 party, i think you are nearly guaranteed to get a drop (assuming you win  ).
On your first unique drop, it is more likely to be the type of weapon similar to what you use. So if you have a high archery proficiency, you will get the silverwood bow. As far as i understand it :p

yeah, basically your first unique drop is dependable on your highest skill. after that it's random. i was wondering though, is the chance cumulative? i mean, i got a unique drop from a 20 bandits party when i had 40+ party. there was no unique drop soon before that, so maybe it cumulates over time? or was i just plain lucky

oh, one more thing. that sweet shiny lance or whatever that the Awali have: is it a drop in BoW or just in BoWx? i'm sure i saw it in BoW, so it should be there, right? thanks

EDIT: disregard the last one, i found what i was looking for in another thread.

    Bug Reports

hi and thanks for the great mod! i'm having a blast with it and am glad that it's so bug-free (tried another mod today, and after reloading the game my tracker companion Borcha turned into a naked moron that can only ride horses and nothing else  recycle bin is a great utility  )

i did notice something though. the "help friendlies in battle" bug is still on the loose. example - i join a 50 strong friendly against 70 strong hostile battle with 75 troops and it tells me "you've 75 troops against 70". ok, so i assumed my ally wanted to sleep that one off. but when i joined the battle, the troops were halfway mixed - my heroes and rangers and the friendly's Khergits along with the lord. it's no biggie, but it would be cool if it's fixed. happens to me all the time, and does not happen in native. i play BoW, not BoWx.

the other problem is probably system related, since my machine is a lowed end, but still plays with an excellent framerate with a DX7 rendering. this never happened in native, but sometimes when i play BoW the framerate drops to like 2-3 fps. it happened twice when entering town (when i exited it the world map worked just fine and there was no framerate drop) and once it happened on the world map. exiting the game and starting fresh fixes this. never happened in battle though, and it's a very rare occurance, so again no biggie. thanks for your time and keep up the good work!

    A question about faction

hello Vherkin! i've got some info for you, i hope someone verifies it as i did not play with an unknown adventurer for long.

if you choose "an unknown adventurer" character (if i understood the question right) you just get different set of skills than "minor noble" or "merchant", a boost to the primary stats (i think), no renown whatsoever (minor nobles start with 100 renown for example and get invited in factions sooner), you start alone (as opposed to 4 Mercs if noble) and you have no banner. i'm not sure about the banner though, you probably get one when you join a faction or get a fief/castle/city and that way you become a noble (help on that anyone?).

on your other question: as far as i know you've got to have good favour with the lord and nothing more. once i got Sanjar Khan's favour up to 99 by doing some missions for him, then asked him to follow me and he did so for quite a while. then he just up and left, so maybe they've got time limit on following you or something. lords that follow you help in sieging only by scaring enemies away. they don't join in the fight, at least not in my game.

again, i'll appreciate it if someone verifies this info. i'm a relatively new player and still don't know everything. i hope this helps! cheers

Cries of War Soundpack v3.0 [28/12] NEW

    Eisenhouwer 说:
    Try this:
First reïnstall M&B 0.903 (123.23mb version recommanded) make sure you have a clean install. Second extract the soundpack to a map in my documents. (not yet in M&B) Third delete the files 'readme' & 'module' of the soundpack in the map of my documents. Then cut and paste the sounds in your Native sound map (not in main dir of m&b) and the 'sounds' file in your Native map. (click yes to overwrite) Finally open the 'module' file of Native and change this line ' scan_module_sounds = 0 ' to ' scan_module_sounds = 1'

I hope this works for you.

i had the same problem and that solution took care of it. There's an easier way to fix the module.ini file, though, just install M&B 0.903 somewhere else clean, then copy the module.ini file from the fresh install to the one you're playing and then tweak it with the ' scan_module_sounds = 1' line. now you can delete the new install you made because you won't need it anymore. that works just the same, i'm only guessing that you won't need to reconfigure the game all over again on a clean install. you just need the clean module.ini file. anyway, it's an awesome soundpack, i especially like the arrow/bolt sounds, although all the other samples are great too! thanks Eisenhouwer!

    Castle Besiege Tactics

    Solikos 说:
Just curious to see how other people approached sieging castles...

i did exactly the same thing as you my first game - war bow, 3 large packs of khergit arrows and i was off to catch meself a castle  lots of xp, the bow skill goes way up and i just feel good about shooting enemies in the head with a bow. i made the hired blades (any heavy armoured troop works well here) wait just next to the wall and so on and so on  everyone does it obviously. but as you mentioned, not a most honest tactic. still, all is fair in love and war  once i was able to capture a castle at my first go, but difficulty settings were low, so no wonder there. my second game (when .903 came out) i joined the Kherjit, and, as much as i love their troops, they just suck at siege. at least as archers they are ok, but to get the job done i hired some blades to capture the castle proper. only this time i decided to do it the old-fashioned way. i got some troops, charged them up the ladder, supported them with archers and my own trusty bow, and watched them die. thing is, blades don't die until they get at least two spawns of troops with them, and so i was able to wear down the castle in several charges. i replenished my troops from taverns and villages every time before a charge, but the enemy's number stayed the same, even the wounded got healed very slow (?!). if morale gets low, kill something along the way to boost it. it's costly, but it somehow feels more real than one man taking an entire castle and i have the money for it. but if realism is not an issue, your tactic is pretty much the best one - almost no loss of troops, low loss of morale, tons of xp for you, great boost to bow/crossbow skills etc... good luck
