    Custom order items prices

Once I had a town, I was absolutely rolling in the money. Even a village's tax can add up. The prices start to make more sense when seen in that context

Warband Private Servers Modified to emulate a MMORPG's "persistant" experience.

If it could be coded at all, in my mind it would pretty much have to be a hacked on addition as a near independent client program. As far as I know it would be near impossible with the current framework and module system. Also what TheNarrator said is fairly true, I've noticed that but admittedly am unsure of the cause.

    Khergits in scrims?

Most people do not like to play as and against Khergits so as soon as they pop up they are being voted off. There are only a few people who enjoy playing with them.

Clan's who use Khergits are generally accepted in a skirmish against other clans.

lol you sure ?because i heard its common courtesy and basicly a rule for clans not to use khergits, and i second it, i mean, come on, Khergits? a clan that uses khergits can just always pick an open stepppes or plains map and then use khergits and its like they just auto win, i dunno, just seems really cheap for any clan to use khergits, thier not exactly a balanced faction...
On the contrary, with a good level of organization present they can be quite balanced.

    Somewhat weak bows?

WEll, for the amount of arrows, there is always a way to edit files with MB tweaker and so xD It's cheap and cheating, but.. eh xDDD.

Oh and one thing... Is there a way of making arrows faster?
To make them fly faster you need to edit the projectile speed stat on the bow/xbow you're using. It doesn't show up visible in game but it affects the drop and somewhat the damage as well as obviously the travel time.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY WARBAND BETA

Lol, it doesn't feel like a year has passed. . .(only been like 50 weeks for me :p)
But yea, I do miss knowing everyone or 90% of people on the servers by name and/or face.

Victory ! I Conquered The Map.

One of the things I've been trying lately to really increase my difficulty is to play with odd set ups(see above). My most recent is Swadians without cav, this works more in some mods than others. I think the next thing to try will be Vaegirs with only archers.

Server populations seem low (US). Why?

    Seawied86 说:
keep in mind, Warband is still an indie game , and I think the servers pop still reflects that.

More people are spread out over more server.

Also, this is coupled with the fact that college students are the main age group targeted by warband, and finals are right around the corner. I think more people will play come june
This is actually a big reason why my play time has dropped off lately, its getting hard to sneak in the time. It also does help to get your friends to play, I grab a melee javelin and everyone can enjoy themselves a bit.

The reason people are touchy about manual blocking is it removes all of the skill they have, it means that they are just as good at blocking as someone fresh from CSS, which, not surprisingly, means that any attempt to remove Mblock is met with harsh words, and I can fully understand where they're coming from.

It doesn't remove skill, it changes the skills required. Several people have already noted ways that good players can defeat automatic blocking, and they both work and have been used against me. Someone who is good at manual block but can't defeat someone on automatic block should take some of their own advice and practice a bit more. You'll get the hang of it eventually.

    DSlayer 说:
Personally I think that blocking "skill" is just an illusion. Sure you might be more skilled at "Simon Says" than me, but that's not what fighting should be about. There's much more to fighting than just blocking. Someone with autoblocked turned on is not 100% impossible to hit. Outmaneuver them, feint them, kick them, do something creative. Seems to me people are just scared of having to expand on their fighting tactics in order to win a fight. I'd rather have the focus of fighting on other things than Guitar Hero with swords and axes.

I really wish I had a clip of Zero Punctuation on QTE's. I agree with this 100%.
Warband beta/release time counts for 5x more than M&B release or beta experience when talking about Warband mechanics imo. Also, this whole "Blocking is a QTE" thing is absolutely ridiculous. Blocking is a valid, needed and interesting component of the game. Admittedly the learning curve can be quite difficult at the beginning and even if you're a pro your off days will still get you. Almost any part of the game could be simplified down to "QTE" if you wish to analyze it like that.

This is from your infantry primer. I'll agree hitting someone with the front arc of your swing is very effective. Not only do you hit before they do but you also do full damage. What I'm getting at is that damage needs to be reduced for the front half of the arc or at least the beginning of the arc. It's not realistic and makes no sense.

Think for a moment. If I'm turning into my swing, isn't my swing technically *faster* ? And do faster attacks not do more damage?
Speed bonus is based on character movement, not turning. Also, @ the guy above: Manual blocking is as much a skill as any reflex or practice based element is, a perfectly valid one. Fights with auto would be pretty boring compared to now at any high level.

Does it not depend also on the villages/towns prosperity the Lord holds ? Why should I raid a village ? Only for looting. I like also to weak an enemy lord. ( Sorry my english )
They get their tax income and stuff, I even think some from village raiding. They get the 1k to cover their inability to sell loot and stuff and to let them have an army if they don't have a fief.

Video - Common beginner player errors

Good video Reapy, I can definitely agree on the "spam" issue. It can be hugely effective against new players, but fails against a veteran with anything except a great hammer. I try to avoid random tdm unless I play with something to "challenge" me(imo anything much above 2:1 and I get something else instead of my favorite 2h sword), like the aforementioned great hammer. It always helps to keep up your habits that save you, blocking is good and getting too used to fighting only newbs is bad. Plus, I might put a video up if I feel like it comparing my average fight with a bot to that of a human player who is inexperienced, block once/twice, step forward, strike once, kick and slash. Doesn't work on everyone but helps to pad the k/d for whatever reason if I care.
On a different note, the tab thing has become so much of a reflex to see who's alive/dead and numbers etc that I constantly have to catch myself almost exiting in SP.

At which difficulty you play the campaign?

    Damage to Self: 1/2
    Damage to Allies: Normal
    Battle size: 150
    AI: Good
    Speed: Fastest
    Block: Manual of course
    Manual couch (hard)
Despite the above the AI has absolutely nothing to keep you from laying out windrows of them with anything longer than 75 and a thrust.

    Quick question about framerate.

I'm not going to fap all over my specs in this thread or anything but,
I can cap out in most scenarios with max graphics at ~180 fps but obviously a 63hz monitor doesn't benefit all that much from that. Comfortably running 400 battlesize at max is always nice. I can't deal with anything below ~20 although I got used to 20-30 on my laptop playing a while ago.

how to make spamming less effective?

    Reapy 说:
I think most people that play against me would call me a good player. I know there are many here much better them myself, but just want to baseline that in general I know that some decent players will sweat a little bit when we manage to run into one another (minus the times i go down in 2 hits  ).

So saying that, I have trouble with swing spam. A better player is actually easier for me to fight with since they behave 'normally', while the new player that is suicidally swing spamming catches me off guard.  I might try to do a feint on them and they just are swinging, and I get hit. It happens to me a lot.

But basically what I want to say here is you can't 'fix' swing spam. Here are the conditions that spam works and why (as far as I know).

***New players do not know weapon ranges and new players can not block. So if you are using a large 2 hander, you can often just swing as they run up to you, especially if you have a longer weapon. They will not block, and will probably try to swing at  you. They will do this even if you have a longer weapon. They simply do not know that you can hit them before they hit you. Swing spam will simulate this.

****Big weapons will introduce weapon stun when blocked with 1 handers. I have this problem here, because in general with most weapon match ups you can swing immediately after a block and strike a person first. If you block a 2 hander though, especially if they find the optimal stun bonus (.6 sec remember), they can generally swing again and hit you before you return swing. I forget this a lot, and die to 2 hand spammers like a newbie many times.

But that is really the only thing a 2h axe has going for it, take it away and the weapon is hurt too much. Once you close on a person they won't really be able to stun you again.

***With good position, you can swing twice against a person safely. New players do not understand timing and think that you are completely free to just swing after a block. I think the game designers have done most of their changes to actually avoid this hit trading gameplay that existed early on.

***Click faster. I don't mean that condescendingly... m&b really responds to you clicking faster with better timing. When you play a really good player the thing you will notice right away is things happen faster, it is simply because their brain is ahead of yours, they are clicking and swinging/blocking IMMEDIATELY because they know what they want to do. Most players (myself included most of the time i'm not amped up) have about a half second of time between when they input commands while they think about it. Even a half second sometimes is enough to hit you first.

So really, I understand that people failing around, especially in crowds, seems like trouble. But eventually when the player base understands how to play, you will see this less and less. When you identify the spammer you simply have to stay facing them, block each hit and return swing. When it is a 2 hand axe back pedaling you have to think a little more but just remember to block and you'll get to them eventually...when you close you should be able to out swing them a few times to give them a taste of their own medicine.

Finally if you are still hellbent on finding ideas to defeat swing spam... try a search on the beta board (not this one) for swing spam and stamina bars, you will find lots of discussion that might give you some new ideas and insights.
Reapy brings up a good point, many more experienced players will get messed up when people don't behave according to patterns usually developed later. However, I'm sometimes called a "spammer" and they'd be right often. Especially against weapons like lol-hammers if you have a really fast weapon the best way to kill is just to feint a bit and attack. Besides, if I don't think someone is going to be able to respond if I attack all out(for whatever reason) why would I patiently wait for you to counter to block instead of just attacking again? With most weapons if you see a timing fail coming up on your part you can block even if your attack is out a little bit.

P.S. While I'm not quite at Reapy's level(he's pretty modest) I'm fairly decent especially at duel-style fighting or small group. If I say I'm good I'll be asking for neih or gravish to pop in and inform me otherwise so hedging my bets.
