    Figured it out (or at least, got it working). One of the layers was ever-so-slightly off-size from the main image, because I had stretched it to size by hand. Had to select "set layer size to image" or something like that. Then it seemed to work.

    Should be really simple for you to swap their elephant for a horse with Morgh's. Can't say enough how easy it is to customize your game with that little gem - really worth spending a minute figuring it out.

    Well, chances are, the attackers got there first, no? Aren't you riding in to relieve the villagers, who have already been invaded? You've got to drive them out of your own keep because they've taken it while you were off "crusading" :smile:.

    EDIT: Oh, and as an additional note, check out some of the "scening" tutorials in the Mod Development section of the forum, and you can learn very quickly how to modify scenes. The editor is even in-game, so you don't need to learn to do anything fancy and technological. Shouldn't be very hard at all to change the spawn-points, once you get the hang of it. I bet you could get learn how in an afternoon, and then actually make the change in mere moments, and those skills would go a long way toward freeing you to change scenes as you like throughout your game. I've never had a castle I didn't alter, and I think that's fair - after all, I am their God. Right?

    Another idea, concerning recruiting deserters.

    Everyone knows at least one movie where the villain says to the captured good guys, "There's room for two on my crew. The rest of you are dead. Who's interested?" etc. Prevalent in pirate yarns. Heck, the Joker even did in the Dark Knight, more or less.

    Anyway, the idea is that when offering deserters to join you for "money and protection", if you don't have enough space in your party or money to hire them all, it would be great if you could just take the ones you could accommodate (as it is with mercs in taverns, when you can't take them all) and then proceed to annihilate the others.

    "I can take 14 of you."
    (14 A4 Bogsveigr join your party)
    "What about the rest of us?"
    "You'll feed the crows."
    (PBOD!)

    And, while we're at it, I'll just reiterate the old cries that taking deserters should tank your honor, not your renown.

    And BTW, since I don't say it enough - thank you Devs for all you do. This mod pack really is this game's destiny. As far as I'm concerned they released an unfinished game, and you guys have taken it all the way.

    I'll consider it.  I'm generally against clothing affecting skills unless it is in a penalizing way due to encumbrance issues, but I can also see the argument for some of the items listed above.  A person's wardrobe certainly would have some influence on their perceived power or air of command.  The surgeon's clothing shows tools on it for the purpose of that job which makes sense.

    It could be a great incentive for player faction leaders to wear a crown if they effected your RTR, though the mod doesn't seem to list that as an option, but if they effected persuasion and/or charisma/leadership it would do the trick.

    I would actually love it anyone could list any other items they know of that appear in the cheat menu list but are not actually used by any NPC troops. As a casual item-replacer, those are prime targets for me, since I could use MORGHS to rework them and still have my creations accessible through that cheat page.

    Another thought - Cheering. It would be great if I could hit a button that got me screaming along with the troops, holding my brand high. Always feels strange that I can't partake in the battle-madness that follows a crushing victory.

    I haven't noticed any effect at all, to be honest. Never seen a man rout - always figured that was an NPC thing. Not sure about the actual moral number, but I think I'm usually gaining enough rapid aggressive victories to keep them all pumped, the poor fools. If I were them, I'd sneak off pronto. I've seen their commander at work. Dude's a psycho. But then again, he'd probably follow them back to their villages for revenge.

    Which unit type you like most and why

    The Virago are the greatest. I have them in their own division called Valkryies. They're abundant, reliable, all-purpose, and I swear they take out A7's in the opposing line at least as often as it goes the other way around. Set them to join the shield-wall once they're out of ammo and you'll find them performing well there, too. Oh, and their gear is Heraldic, so they rep your banner in style.

    Outside of whatever troops my rag-tag band manages to free from prisoner trains or pressgang into service from the odd village, they're the only constant in my horde. Virago for life!

    After going the lordly/honorable rout I've been playing as a total homicidal maniac, and thus I tend to draw most of my troops from the "force villagers to join your ranks" option. So mostly, my army is made up of whatever faction I'm currently opposing, not the one I'm representing. It has the added effect of lessening my attachment, so if my men die on the field, it isn't a loss - they were sort of my enemies anyway. With that outlook at play, you can use whatever troops and strategy you want - it's all win/win!
