What´s your actuell version of WF&S? Mine is V 1.143 - could it be the reason?

1.143 is the latest here as well.
how far are you into your game? i noticed the same thing at first but after about 60 or so days (broad estimated) I started seeing larger bands of bandits, deserters, etc..mostly in the swedish, muscovite regions

Mount and Blade: With Fire and More Fire...

    Lord Shields 说:
The days of line battles with the English and French are over for a very good reason (they weren't a good idea).

well yes now it isnt a good idea but that was THE ONLY way back then. think about it. you have a musket that is very inaccurate and takes a while to load. you get men lined up to volley a giant line of lead at the enemy. the reason you have to stay in formation is for concentrated firepower and a defense against a cavalry charge. if you are in a loose, everyone find cover, formation , the enemies cavalry will run you down and destroy your army. this is where discipline came in. the army HAD to stay together and hopefully your general wasn't an idiot who threw men's lives away for personal glory.
now military discipline focuses more on everyone being able to do their highly technical jobs under intense pressure than just being able to hold a line while cannon balls are flying at you. as modern soldiers are more engineers than warriors.
that was kind of an interesting thing about WW1 was that it was the first time armies had to deal with extremely accurate rifles, and machine guns. to stand in a line formation was suicide so trenches were dug vigorously . it was really the crisis that evolved warfare to its modern light guerrilla style.
ahh humans, always finding ways to kill more of each other  i just call it population control

Really getting ticked off at this game

this game does not hand you victory liek so many games do. you have to work for those endorphins here.
your king is probably held captive somewhere. and why would your generals know where he is? he was captured. the enemy probably would not disclose his exact location for fear of a rescue attempt or something like that. if this is the case. though it would be nice if there were added dialog to at least mention that he's been captured. come to think of it didnt they mention that in previous MB games?

you've gotta build your firearm skill, (im pretty sure my target closes more as my firearm skill goes up, could be wrong though)  and no these guns are not accurate, they are smooth bore. that means the gasses just roll the ball out of the barrel instead of a spinning effect like a rifled barrel. i watched a demonstration with a smooth bore musket. the operator was standing 25 yards or so from a wall and the gun only hit it maybe twice out of 6 or so shots. these things are not accurate at all, thats why they fire in lines as to create a wall of flying lead. i do agree that sometimes very close shots miss where i dont think they should but it rarely ever affects my game enough that i really even notice it.

and try shooting into clusters that is the best way to get a hit. change YOUR not your whole armies battle angle so that you are viewing their axis down the line. they will bunch up on your line of sight and you can start pluggin away. have some companion cavalry with you and just do guerrilla hit and run while your main line picks off the bulk of the enemy army. its great fun, i find my self hootin and hollerin like howard dean. and the uncontrollable anal clench at the lucky head shot. (though that is more reserved for games with sniper abilities like far cry2 and such)
though watch out for marksmen because when 10-15 men are all shooting at you  one is bound to hit. thats why i like a really fast horse

you've gotta join a faction to get their troops. swedes KICK ASS just like in every other century, they are brutal warriors.

you have to build a building (cant remember which one off hand, barracks or something) to start recruiting commanders and such. there is a build tree involved to make your town operate at full functionality.

oh and honestly try turning the game difficulty down a little if it gets too frustrating. i played on the easiest settings for a long time when i first bought MB a few years back. even on WFAS i played on easy until i got the hang of it and now i play on normal. still hard for me.

this game is very unforgiving but thats what i like about it. have some patience and once you build up an elite force you can start steamrolling over your enemies,  and you will will be giddy with all the blood covering your shiny armor. you will bask in the stench of the iron rich air, your horse will slip on the many entrails that you have personally freed from their host.

B Musket Era Sound and Smoke FX Mod v3.0 up!

    solecist 说:
it is my opinion that the new sounds are bad, yes. sorry you don't agree; you don't have to download the mod. i believe that they are tinny and cut off awkwardly.

i fully agree, they (in game sounds) sound nothing like any kind of gun past or present. i know there is more hissing in blackpowder rifles and muskets but there is like no "boom" and no reverb in the game. ive heard replica firearms and they go boom. and ironically in the beginning of firearm tech it was the boom not the bullet that had the most effect on the battlefield.
    good job solecist

    Too many deserters/bandits

really? i find myself looking for 100+ bandit and deserter bands to level my men up. it was a little tough (fun) at first but once you get around 50 or so swedish mercenaries and some decent npc's (medic/scout/trader etc...) do caravan runs then max out your troops. you will be bored in no time and ready to take on some professional armies. and for god sakes export your char if you start a new game, it makes it a little easier to start off with.

jesus christ people. what, are we 10 years old here? freaking out over a $15 game?
the game has some bugs. so did warband, so did mount and blade. so did every total war game. and pretty much every PC game I've ever bought in the last 10 years, and that's a lot,  have come out buggy on release. some worse than others.
like dude said, um...nox, they are working on it.
ive known quite a few programers in my life and what i always here is, "when you fix a bug, another one pops up. programing is about writing programs to fix other programs"
all i ever did was basic back in the day so i don't really know out of experience but it sounds about right.
anway good job taleworlds and sich i'm lovin this game. even if i have to be the swedish hero. at least my renown is going up beating off all the enemy lords.
ha.... beating off enemy lords...

It's because we love this game that we want it to be bug free. It has a lot of potential once free of bugs. Otherwise most of us would not buy all 3 M&B games and put up with all these bugs.
Also, other games may have bugs, but they're minor compared to F&S. At release there was a bug where we couldn't level our troops. A simple gameplay test would reveal it, so it feels like they just rushed things without bothering to test properly. We want Taleworlds to be more professional.

It costing only $15 and being an indie company is not a valid excuse to allow obvious bugs to happen. There is an indie company that created Torchlight. It was also quite cheap but it doesn't have bugs where you cannot level.

It feels like nox was a modder, now hired by Taleworlds to help fix bugs. Taleworlds should look into hiring more modders to fix simple bugs for native F&S, ask them to volunteer or pay them a small amount. That then frees them up for bigger bugs.

Taleworlds should also have a beta testing period, inviting players to test it. It would prevent many obvious bugs like the one where we cannot level. Such a huge and easy bug to detect should never have gone live.

right you may love this game. i do too. but truth of the matter is that the bugs encountered are not game breakers and are being fixed. yes the leveling up bug was pretty bad but they had that fixed in a day or 2 and it was only on the english version. IM sorry you have to wait for fixes but that is the way it goes. and yes being a smaller indie company does allow some room for error as they don't have NEAR the budget or staff of big game developers.  you obviously never played medieval 2 when it came out.
also torchlight would appear to me to be a much simpler game to create and release. with no multilayer. no real story to follow, just hack and slash, no economy, hack ans slash and a **** ton of items.

maybe im a fanboy but i see this with every game that comes out. OK maybe FS had a rough start but they are fixing things.

i just think the over reaction of some people is very reminiscent of childhood temper tantrums. i mean there are other things in life besides a game that has a few bugs.

I'm getting real sick of MB: WF&S

im just sick of my swedish faction's warlords sitting there while their castles are besieged.
i keep having to run in there and save the day. it's almost as if the swedish empire is not meant to expand.
we've gotten bigger and bigger and it seems that armies defend less and less.
it's not as if they're busy either they just sit there or wander around. same thing happen to anybody else?

doesn't break the game for me but it is a little unrealistic and annoying. it seems in warband and even original MB that the Ai was a little better at defending. i could be wrong though.
