Again, in one manuscript of his _Chronica Majora_, Matthew showed the banners of the Hospitallers, the Templars and the king of France: and again the Hospitallers' banner has a red field with a red cross (Cambridge: Corpus Christi College, Parker Library, MS 16 fol. 141). He never shows the Hospitallers' shields. I think that it would be most likely, however, that the Hospitallers' shields matched their banner.

    The official coat of arms for the Knights Hospitaller is a white cross on a red field, or "gules, a cross argent" (at least since 1189 or so, long before they started wearing red surcoats).

    Glad to hear that you like them at least, and Sander Marechal is not wrong, I'm just saying that he was probably talking of a certain kind of Hospitallers, as the Red and white coat of arms was used by the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order. Still, other Hospitaller orders used black and white. Anyway, I might make some Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order coat-of-arms later, up until right now, I only implemented one, the one from Malta. Just have to wait and see how much spare time I got.

    I know some of the Hospitallers used a Red Flag, but many also used a black one, so I made quite a few black and white ones. I did make one for the Order of Malta, but I've been quite busy lately, so Im not sure when I'll be able to add any more. The Black banners with the white crosses are still "proper" Hospitaller banners though, as not all of them were part of the Order of Malta. :smile:

    That would probably be the corresponding colour of the old banner. Seeing as I'm not really a Modder, I'm afraid I can't help you change that. All I did, was to replace banners that had the same color as the new one, at least then the colours fit.

    All banners should work correctly, if you use them the correct way. You use a program like Paint.NET and simply put the new banners you want to use, over those of the old ones you'd like to overwrite. Might take a bit of skill though to get it working correctly, but shouldn't be too hard to learn.

    Thanks. Some of the banners might look good on certain surcoats, though I am not entirely certain. I don't really see why they shouldn't... Although, if they don't look that good, you can probably do some changes, seeing as this download mostly contains the BMP files, which you again have to paste over existing banners... so pasting over an old banner with the same background colour, should make them blend very well with the surcoats. Suppose you'll have to try to know, really  :smile:

    Indeed, you are correct. It seems, in my hurry, I left out the two new banners. I've uploaded them over again, so they should be there now. Thank you for letting me know.

    Alright, so I've made the two banners you wanted, and added them to the download. I'm currently kinda busy at home so I don't have much time to make them as perfect as I might have wanted to, but they should be adequate at least. Hope you like them, and if you do need some help later, I'm always willing to help people who appreciate my work.  :grin:

    I don't mind getting feedback for my current banners, and ideas for new banners.

    When I first made these, a long time ago, I was still a newb to this whole community thing, and in a way, I still am. I don't really know how to move this thread to the Mod section, but if some Moderator could do it, feel free :smile:

    Use a program such as Paint.net

    You open the files with the banners, and paste in the Crusader ones on top of the ones you want to replace.

    Change the names of a few scandinavian locations. Trondheim to Nidaros, Oslo to Kristiania, Copenhagen to København. Nothing big, just small details. :smile:

    Played this for a while. It's very nice, even though it's still in Alpha. Some of the names concerning the nordic countries may need changing, as a few names were different in the older days. Trondheim was called Nidaros, Copenhagen is in Danish København. And Selbu in Norway is such a small place that you might want to use a village that was more known at that time, like Stjørdal.
    If you need any more Nordic names, send me a PM.

    In the end, a very nice module that I think will be very popular as the beta comes closer.
