In every Mount&blade title, cavalry is overpowered and when you get a decent company of cavalry NOTHING can stop you,it gets boring having to watch your Winged hussars or Asak-beys dominate everything. They rip infantry to pieces,if I understand Pikemen are supposed to STOP cavalry dead, they aren't supposed to be dominated by an oglan this hard.On the maximum difficulty I could get a 150 men battle of my 20 hussars vs. 130 infantry and cavalry always ends up with me having 2 casualties max. There should be a system to injured/killed horses,if you shoot a guy in the head he dies 99% of the time (him not being an npc character)
Historically, hussars had very low lossess during charges, in a charge of 200-250 hussars against thousands of infantry (with muskets and cannons) they were expected to lose 10 men. That was somewhat changed during Polish-Swedish war of 1626-1629 (which was their fifth and not the last war in that century), when in their first lost battle hussars lost 50 men, though it was due to extremely concentrated fire, especially from canister shots of Swedish cannons. But then the Swedish army had the highest density of cannons and muskets of these times, and they had almost no cavalry (like 10% at most).
Pikemen couldn't stop hussars, and you have no cannons. 2 casualties vs. 130 infantry is still somewhat high, when comparing to historical data. The reason why your casualties are so high (comparing to real world, again) is the bad algorithm for lancers in the game - instead of using sabers after the initial charge, they often tend to use lances. Even when dismounted. This is the same as in Warband, but in Warband lancers often had no swords, so couldn't use them anyway.
Anyway, I must admit that you are faring better than me, because I always lose most of hussars, on normal difficulty, against crap (but numerous) marksmen or infantry. I use less of them (1-10), because they die easily and I cannot replenish them, and I even don't want to replenish them, because they die easily. I'm sure they die due to the AI fluke I have described. Why it isn't working that way in your case - I don't know. And in my game pikemen are quite better against cavalry than you describe. Maybe it is down to numbers, or composition.
