My general, Spartikles the Crippled, is an immortal warrior sent by the gods. There's no other explanation. None that I'm interested in, anyway. The guy's stats are lousy, he's 0 for command, management, and influence. His lame from birth trait reduces his combat effectiveness and makes him useless for anything other than disposable heavy cavalry. He's also got some other bad traits, including flaccid. The guy can't catch a break.
All my men died outside the enemy walls thanks to being totally outclassed and charged in the back by sneaky ninja cav, so I sent Spartikles running after the fleeing king inside their capital with the intention of killing him and maybe getting a cheap victory by holding the square for a while. The king died, leaving me with Spartikles and 6 bodyguards remaining. The ragged remains of the enemy spearmen slowly trickled in and I got solid charges on all of them, killing them off before 50 heavily upgraded, veteran, well-armored Galatian Swordsmen finally came running in. Charged them for a last stand and my numbers dropped fast, but they still managed to kill ~20 before it was only Spartikles left. He was kicking ass, the little cutscene thing when your general dies showed up twice but he just kept hacking away so I ran him out of there and tried to escape. Couldn't leave, so I ran him back and spent a good 15 minutes charging him through the swordsmen, running to the other side of the square before they could retaliate, and charging him back. 30 kills unaided as the last man on the field and he won the battle, capturing and apparently subduing the entire city by himself. And he only got two bronze chevrons for it.
