  5. Steam for the next M&B?

    Archonsod, while I understand your reservations, driving people away from computer (as in PC) gaming to consoles is ultimately detrimental to its health. As it is, digital distribution has been a breath of fresh air for the platform, and it is instrumental to its continued existence, in my opinion. I know that as far as I am concerned I wouldn't game nearly as much on my computer, nor buy games for it (including M&B:W), were it not for the convenience of digital distribution, be it Steam, Impulse or GOG.

    I usually prefer owning a box I can feel in my hands, I still fondly remember unpacking my old C-RPGs full of goodies and such, but the level of convenience provided by digital distribution supersedes that feeling.

    Yeah, works while you're in the field but as soon as you try entering a town you get the siege screen, and you can't get out of it. It's good enough for me though, I can respec, import, save and then restore the vanilla menus.txt.

    Here's what I did, I ran a diff between 1.112 vanilla menus.txt and Knil's modded menus.txt, as inspired by bigtoebubby. There are a lot of differences, I wish I had a vanilla 1.111 to compare with but alas, I do not. Anyway, if you want it to work just replace

    Surely there's a more elegant way but this works pretty well, you can export/import all the companions in the game (whether you have them or not) as well as change your banner, and all changes are reflected right away. Also 1.112 changes the location where exports/imports are saved to/read from so take note of that.
