I can't but feel the same way too. The thing about this "game" is that it's nothing we've not seen from a mod before, if not done even better. "Professional polish"? aha.

Why are people arguing about the racist stuff... this mod is *meant* to be released in China only, so now that you have it, i don't think you have any right to complain. For instance, no one in China will play as the Japanese. If there was such option, people would trash WilliamBerne. He's letting you guys who don't have such a "patriotism" play the mod... which is a privilege for us already. You're not even Chinese or born under that environment, there might be a lot you don't know about.

WWII is just 60 years ago and that generation who experienced it still exists. Not that I think they would play video games, but would you want to see your grandson kill your own people with your once-sworn enemy? Japan had the right to ban fallout3 from having the nuke scene, hence WilliamBerne absolutely has the right to not let you play as Japan.

"I want to play Japan so make it that way" is such an insult to the mod itself. The effort spent aside, you're just being mean and selfish. I do agree the last generation of Chinese do have a bit ethical problems, but you really should learn to respect the mod maker's point of view. Our American (Western) view of freedom pretty much blinded us from respect for other cultures.

For those then, who thinks it's just a game, learn that this may not be just that to them. Not a war simulator of course, but just like how American patriotism is everywhere in our films, it means something to them. So please do not argue about that, enjoy the mod to the fullest extent, and respect the maker's decision.

If you are to take any action, there really should be a bridge between the English forums and the Chinese forums. See, that officially the Chinese agreed to buy the legal copies and closed all crack threads. And this proves that there could be stuff to be done.
I suggest all the modders should group together and take proper action, find a Chinese person at the english forums willing to help, speak to the Chinese forum moderators, and post a sticky on the Chinese forums stating what items and who made them and agree that anyone using the stuff had to put proper credits for the creators. But also, stop these retarded racism flame wars.

You're saying this because of pure logic; why not have more, better mods?

Well, to answer, you have to have made a mod before. Spent hours working on your projects- in the end, no one really makes a mod so they can spend hours and hours on it. We make mods because we get a nagging to see something done, and, who knows, help the community. At the end of the day, its the messages like "Hey man, great mod" that keep us doing it.

On the other side of the picture, its people like you, who say credit doesn't matter, or people like Expand that blatantly steal work from others.

"Would the downloaders know who the creaters are?" Yes. I think almost everyone here knows Ancient, just like everyone knows Markus. Why the hell should people make mods if your average people who can form coherent paragraphs, follow that mentality? They're making free content here, the least you could do is throw them a "Thanks to".

All modders or contributers to the community in different ways want themselves to be known, be thanked. You obviously didn't read my post carefully. The question I raised was "Would the downloadersknow who they are?", which is directly referring to the Chinese forum members, which is exactly what the entire paragraph was about. I doubt even that anyone from the chinese forums would know who armagan is. Now that mods people create here is massly distributed and introduced in different forums, not only here, people won't know who Ancientwanker is. All they know is that "there is a cool lotr mod!!". Even if any forum goers in other forums (not in taleworlds who) downloaded your mod(from a thread started by someone not in the mod team, just an ordinary M&B player), knew that you created the mod, yet you won't even know if they thanked you or not, if your mod really was so popular that you can't get track of where it is distributed. Thus your stuff being distributed everywhere is already a sign of huge success. If the motivation is getting popular, then you have succeeded. But if you want the whole world to know who made the gladiator mod, I'm sorry. 2/3 of the people who played the mod won't even give a damn about who made it. Tell me who created the indie game Stranded. You wouldn't even have noticed who made it, while still enjoying the moments of building a hut.

Now don't say I am against credits, I am actually trying to ask people to stop flamming, and do something. All this nagging here doesn't do any good. If modders here are really passionate about their work and want their names to be known, join the forums. Blend into the community. Let them know that this forum member is present, and he made the, say, story mod. That's why I suggested the solution.
