  1. Post music that you have composed!

Here's my SoundCloud. It's got all kinds of random stuff going on, and some of it is old versions of stuff, but that's more or less what I do- stuff for string orchestras/string quartets.
  2. Scottish Independence

So, if Scotland gains independence, what does the UK get called?
  3. NaNoWriMo 2012!

I don't think I can do 50,000, but I'm gonna shoot for 15,000 quality words. Maybe I can get more done since I have Thanksgiving break, though. We'll see.
  4. The currently unofficial(Hopefully official) Poetry thread.

The second one's not so weird if you know what I'm talking about, but only a select few people would actually know everything I'm talking about there.
  5. Post stories you have written!

I had a story I got >30,000 words into, but some of the writing was atrocious (especially near the beginning) so here's the start to a new draft: http://ataleofgassad.blogspot.com/2012/10/prologue.html

If my chapters continue being this length, I'll be almost 100,000 words in by the time I catch up to the old draft. Which could lead to this story being as much as 400,000 words at the end. Definitely didn't expect it to go that far when I started writing it.
  6. The currently unofficial(Hopefully official) Poetry thread.

I'm not exactly a prolific poet, but here's a couple pieces of my own. Fair warning, I tend to write poems when I'm sad.

    I have a pet monster
    who lives on my bed,
    and every night we play.
    Sometimes he's red,
    sometimes he's blue,
but right now he's a little green.
My monster doesn't like my friends,
but he visits them all the time.
    I don't know why.
He's started living in my pockets
so he can see them more,
and the more he sees them,
    the bigger he gets.
    He won't fit much longer.
    He's getting too big
    to hide in my pockets.

    My monster promises me things.
    He talks of dreams,
    of would-be's,
    of could-have-been's.
    And every night
    he tugs at my hair.
He doesn't like it when I sleep,
so he tries to keep me awake.
    He talks and talks,
    like nails on a chalkboard.
    Scraping. Scratching.
    White knuckles. Bleeding cheeks.
The cold fingers running down my ear.
    No dreams, no would-be's.
This is the stuff nightmare are made of.
This is the stuff life is made of.
    You can't sleep
    when you're numb with fear.

Now he's back in my pocket.
    Scraping. Scratching.
    Doesn't anyone else hear?
No? I'll keep him a secret, then.
    Stifle him, strangle him.
    Drown him out.
    Lock him in my closet.
But he's too smart for that,
    and now he wants revenge.
    Claws growing, eyes glowing.
I clench my present to my gut,
    I keep it safe.
Then it starts to unravel from the ends.
He weaves the string into tapestries
    of if-only's, of cannot-be's,
    of should-have-been's.
I can keep him out of now,
but he gets to have then.

    I have a pet monster
    who lives in my head.
    He's a bully. A tumor.
    He's growing.
    He doesn't promise me things.
Not anymore. There are no dreams,
    would-be's, or could-have-been's.
    There's nothing coherent
    about my monster now.
My thoughts are blurry and muffled.
    There's no more sting.
    Just an echo.
My monster is starting to win.

I used to live alone with empty pockets.
    I had no would-be's, no should-have-been's.
    Then my monster came,
and all my friends ran away.

    This little Black Box is a little Black Hole;
it's dark as dark and cold as cold.
    It sucks you in and you never want out;
it's dark as dark and cold as cold
but you can hide in the nooks of the tree's white folds
till the lights come out and you love
    to see what you hate.

A strange kind of man lives in this funny little box,
with his hoods and his bards and bears and queer white maggots.
He makes this box a little black hole
that's dark as dark and cold as cold.
He makes you love to see what you hate,
to be happy because you're sad
    with the music and dancing and laughs and screams;
it's strange as strange and free as free.

In this house of string with its roof of net
and the floating tables where birds go to die,
with the music of the 30s and 50s and now,
with buckets on our heads and masks of snow,
with the bodies of babies and the poodles of stone,
where we made a wastrel into a noble ass,
and fought and fell in love and laughed
and died, we all take our chance
to remind ourselves just who we area
as we lose ourselves for one last time,
then we take ourselves off and mourn our loss.

    This little Black Box is a little Black Spot;
it's darker than dark and colder than cold
and with this strange kind of man we're left all alone.
  7. Any of us sing/ play music? Also I recorded a Bon Iver cover...

I'm a fairly avid composer, and here's the most recent thing I've done. It's still a WIP (ugh that ending) but really what isn't? Also, you oughta be able to see some other stuff I've done on there if you click around some.
  8. Steam: Whats your thoughts on Valves gaming service

I've never had any problems playing offline, but I assumed that I must have been imagining it based on all the *****ing about it. I never had to set up anything.

Exactly, when it pops up I click play offline then precede to access all of my games.
Most people, myself included, click "Play Offline" and then get told that you have to be online in order to be offline unless you switched to offline mode before closing Steam.
  9. Mount & Blade 2 Release Date Poll

I'm going to say 2014+. Not only does it seem likely, but I'd like it to be then, too. I'd rather get great games with quite a bit of time in between then have them churn out a bunch of mediocre ones. They can take all the time they want to release it, IMO. WB is good enough for now, especially with some of the great modders we have.
  10. How Can I Cut The Crap (boring) Parts

Or you can turn on cheats in the menu before the game starts and then just add experience to your character/troops so you can avoid making yourself OP by giving yourself too many skill points.
  11. Recommened mods for greatly improved visuals, diplomacy etc

If you don't want as much of a change, Diplomacy alone improves, well, diplomacy.
  12. [B] TEatRC Warband 1.134

Are there any plans to update it to 1.143? I had kept Warband on 1.134 specifically for mods, but then I got a new computer and when I installed it it went straight to the newest version. Depending on where mods are at, I might get a second install to leave at 1.134 if I can...
  13. Were cavalry so incredibly OP in the Middle Ages?

Well, if cavalry could be stopped easily, then there's no way the AI could deal with them and it would just be annoying for the player to have to maneuver them every single battle so they don't get destroyed because the charged.
  14. TweakMB (With Fire & Sword support!) [v5.09; updated 12.29.13]

I'm running Windows 7 and had the same problem, or it at least looked similar. Try right clicking on the .exe and choosing "Run as Administrator." That fixed it for me.
  15. Question about performance

Alright, thanks. It's running flawlessly on max settings. What bothers me, though, was that WFaS went higher... I would expect them to use similar formulas, but WFaS is more demanding on the graphics end.
  16. Question about performance

So I just got a new laptop, and I'm moving all of my games onto it. This laptop should be able to run Shogun 2 Total War, so I would expect it to run Warband very well... but the highest I can possibly get the estimated performance is ~130%. I can get WFaS up to 180%, though. Is there an...
  17. The Calradian Cost of Living - Biggest Absurdities in WB

I remember hearing that WFaS drastically reduced the ability of the player to cheat.
  18. Mount&Blade II: Bannerlord

    Outlawed 说:
    Its not hard..
A simple map interface or a zoom-out feature that allows you to switch to army selection, instead of first person is definitely not as far-fetched as you make it sound.
Improving economy/trade/agriculture options in your cities can be done in the game NOW. You just need to make it presentable and have a better UI.
You remind me of people who used to say M&B MP is impossible... People who now look at mod's like SRP, cRPG and Strategus and stfu in shame.

I didn't mean the economy/trade stuff, I meant in battle. M&B uses individuals as units, TW does not. Their recruitment systems are completely different, TW does not have the player or companions who you customize throughout the game, M&B units upgrade while TW units don't, and then you have to balance both aspects in battle. I mean, in TW you don't get too much time to just watch the armies fight, usually you're issuing orders, so you wouldn't have much time to actually go into first person mode and fight, and TW armies tend to be HUGE compared to M&B armies, so you controlling one person won't make a huge difference. Beyond that, other aspects have issues, like M&B being based on an individual while TW is a full country. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's not such an easy feat and there are a lot of places where TW and M&B don't blend. Depending on which game was used as a base, you would have to sacrifice some parts of the other game.
  19. Mount&Blade II: Bannerlord

Good luck balancing the M&B and TW components so both are useful and neither are overpowered.
  20. Ymira vs. Matheld ?

    Helmuth 说:
Ymira is easily one of the best characters in the game. Since she starts at low level you can raise her in any way you want.
I would say that's actually a point against her. The versatility is nice, but I could just specialize in trade, recruit Borcha and Jeremus, and then the big stuff is covered and I didn't have to raise anyone up for it.
